What are the 2 elements that majority of Thai BL stories elements have?Students and schools.Since season 1, this…
I loved your assessment and agree with it, thank you!
The only comment I will add is that, since we're just halfway through the series and they are already discussing Oat's becoming a monk (right away, he says!), I'm thinking (okay, hoping) that there is still time for Oat and Pop to get together. If we were through 9 episodes already, I wouldn't have much hope but, at least it seems to me, that it would be pretty strange for Oat to become a monk and then... what? With 5 episodes left? It doesn't seem like the writers would just give up on OatPop with half the episodes left to come. Well, I guess we'll wait and see!
I'm enjoying it so far. Sure, the story is not very clear, but I'm just taking it for what it is: a cute, silly, lighthearted comedy. I'll admit that the scenes where Tee is daydreaming about Pond really do make me smile (especially when they show Tee standing alone with his arms outstretched or in a kissing position all by himself).
Probably the one serious message is the extreme homophobia of the crazy sister. I'm assuming that she will probably come around and see the error of her ways, by the end. Hope so!
Okay, I've watch 1 1/2 eps with English subs, now watching the rest raw. Well... it's different!
On the plus side, I like Saint sooooo much better in this (I wasn't a big fan of his one-dimensional Pete character in LBC). Glad to see TinCan back together (ok, MeanPlan). Perth is always great. And the story, so far, seems okay.
On the flip side, Plan is really kind of a dick now, and I'm not totally sold on wimpy, all smiles Mean. Looks like they're going for the TeeMork storyline of Our Skyy... not too original there. Saint can't sing. And, while it's not LBC, did they have to use all of the background music and the same song? It's all just kind of... strange.
One thing that made this drama special was the idea of a character like Oat, flawed but with good intentions,…
I've noticed that with a lot of BLs that are based on a novel (I'm not sure if WTD is or not), the authors (usually straight women) write a rape into the story, and then romanticize it (like with Addicted and Love By Chance, which many people love). Same with Together With Me, My Dream, and more. I hate that. Let's hope that this trend goes away soon. If there's going to be a rape in a story, it should be made to be the traumatic thing it really is, and the perpetrators should go to prison.
IT seems like the intention with the editing is to keep the viewers guessing if both Pent and Bo went ahead with…
Wow! Well, that complicates things, lol... I assumed that Oat was raped, because, after he started out laughing and saying "it tickles," he was then crying out in pain, "oi, oi... get off!" But I guess we don't know for sure. "Oi" is right... let's hope the story gets better in the upcoming episodes.
So... in the last episode, Pop seemed genuinely upset about Oat. Did Pop actually find out that Oat was raped by Pent (with Bo's assistance)? I'm confused.
This is one of the best Thai BLs I've seen. The story is so compelling, I can't wait to see what happens in the last two episodes!
And, while the plot itself is fantasy (interaction between a human and a ghost), it still somehow makes perfect sense. There are plenty of fun moments, without resorting to inane stupidity. The characters are all likable. Even better, we have a main character (Than) who is not only gay, but brave enough to come out to his friends and his mom. And they are all supportive and accepting! This is so important, and sends such a good message.
I say a big fat no! If you think logically, you'd be like 'no way they didn't even once,' but he's a charcter…
I agree with you! Just before the Chief proposed to Haruta, Haruta said that they were not in a relationship. But I did wonder, since Haruta announced earlier that he and Maki were dating, if they might have ever done the deed. But at the very end, it looked as if he and Maki were "finally" going to do it.
Also, off-topic, I guess: I felt kind of sad for the Chief. Despite the age difference, the Chief really was in love with Haruta and even divorced his wife for him. Oh well... looks like there will be a Season 2 with all three male leads. It will be interesting to see what happens!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for saying exactly what I've been thinking! Oat, you are NOT straight. Bisexual,…
Yes! I don't know what it is with Thai BLs, you'd think they would be more evolved than that. Even in Love by Chance, we know Pete is gay but they make it seem like Ae is straight, but just "gay for Pete." And Ae has never even had a girlfriend nor a relationship with anyone. So why can't he just be gay? Now they have Oat saying the same thing to Pop ("I'm straight, I just love you"). And Knock. Grrrrr!
I think the dads thing at the end was supposed to be funny. As for Farm and the doctor... I don't know, I think…
Thanks for your comments and perspective! I agree with some points. As for others... we'll have to agree to disagree. :)
As for Farm, sure, he was innocent in the beginning. But think about his first encounter with the doc. In the mens room at a gay bar, doc is carrying on with a young guy, Farm sees this, he could have been disgusted by it but, no, he becomes infatuated with the slutty doc. Why? Well, there could be many reasons... wanting a father figure, coming to terms with being gay, or... maybe even coming to terms with his own slutty side (it happens... after all, it happened to doc himself, who knows why).
As for Farm not staying with doc at the end of the prequel, there was no relationship to "stay" in. Doc always made it clear to Farm that he (doc) was a slut, would always have other guys and it wasn't going to change. They weren't a couple. And in TWMTNC, Farm still slept with doc, only this time Farm was the one acting like the slut. I think it was Farm's plan to get doc to really fall for him ("okay, I'll sleep with anyone I want, including you, and let's see how YOU like it!")--and, in the end, it worked.
No question, they're an odd and dysfunctional couple, but those couples exist in real life, too.
I absolutely agree with you regarding Asian dramas, especially BL dramas. A major lack of talking things out or coming to terms with anything. My biggest complaint is the whole "I'm straight, but I'm just gay for you" (as with Knock and Korn). As a gay male myself, that is so offensive to all LGBT people. And it's a lie. Knock, if you're "gay for Korn," than you're not straight, you're either gay or bisexual. Makes me so livid when the writers try to preach that bulls**t.

I see what you mean. But I've always believed that no one can be turned into something they're not, without allowing it. In the prequel, Farm was spying in the men's room on the doc who was cruising another guy... and Farm fell in love with the doc for that. Kind of strange to begin with. On the flip side, once the doc discovered that Farm had turned into a slut as well, the doc reversed his own behavior. Rit was the unfortunate victim of Farm's revenge against the doc, but it looks like Rit may have found someone better at the end. Also, in the real world, some people really do change.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for saying exactly what I've been thinking! Oat, you are NOT straight. Bisexual,…
Happy to find someone that's on the same page with me! With the KnockKorn thing, I've read so many comments from young female posters saying "Knock is straight, he's just gay for Korn." Makes me so mad, because it's not true in real life! If you're "gay for" someone, then you're gay! (Or perhaps bisexual.) Period!
Why does Oat feel the need to assert that he's not gay? Um yeah, you are at least bisexual, NOT STRAIGHT. Straight…
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for saying exactly what I've been thinking! Oat, you are NOT straight. Bisexual, maybe. I really hate this theme that BL series love to perpetuate: "I'm straight, but I'm only gay for you." As a gay male, I find it so offensive to gay and bisexual people. They did this with Knock in the TWM series as well. Just... no.
I don't know if BL producers just have this idea that their precious fujoshi fans can only fetishize two men having sex together if they are led to believe they're really straight, or what.
Question: when Haruta was officially Maki's boyfriend, and then with the Chief for an entire year, do you think he actually slept with either one of them? Haruta seems so naive. (Although I am in love with this series!)
The only comment I will add is that, since we're just halfway through the series and they are already discussing Oat's becoming a monk (right away, he says!), I'm thinking (okay, hoping) that there is still time for Oat and Pop to get together. But it was an okay diversion.

Okay, I'm done with my rant!

Okay, rant over. (Sorry!)
