Pretty sure it was wrong. The story itself has tons of mature contents like violence, torture and prostitution even if not explicit.

A lot of people kept asking if this is bromance or romance, what i can say is watch at your own risk now or wait until it’s complete. No one can give you an exact answer, manga of it i personally considered as action with a bit of romance between them (but not yet confirmed ) while drama is promoted as buddy drama from the start and they cut some flirt scenes from the manga but you can see the chemistry is still there, not possible to be erased.

Either romance or bromance, it’s a great plot, great budget, great acting investigation/crime drama.

It’s pretty obvious they wrote the drama to cut out most of Shirou/Ichirou gay moments to please bigger audiences lol but still these characters and actors seem to go other way 🤣 I still enjoy it and can’t wait for next

Ep 2 is making it more difficult to think that this drama is a bromance or just gay-bait lol they probably have more chemistry then male-female leads in romance drama by second episode. I know this is a crime/yakuza drama but I found both main characters adorable in their moments.

You are right the length of it being mini drama is pretty much one thing I’m sad about, some details from the source of it were not included ( some are pretty important like their little talk with each other in high school about Hira’s disorder, bully, and Kiyoi sharing about his family issue to Hira or when they live together in college ) which were important for character depth and development but it still ended well and being pretty.

This drama kinda attracted some non BL fans in this page despite some people said this was made only for Fujoshi. I myself watched a few BL only from Jdrama and 1-2 from Taiwan bc I’m picky and this one quite satisfied me well lol

Oh this is an interesting view from you because for me, from the start and until sequel, I always see Hira as the MC and Kiyoi as the love interest. Probably for me because the story mainly narrated by Hira more and he’s the one opened the story in both Utsukare and Nikukare (only in Nayamashii kare where Kiyoi got more narration than Hira) and Hira himself even tho he’s not aware, he’s the actual king in this story, he does what he want to and he think what he wants to without relating himself to how others would feel like the song “Follow” lyric with Kiyoi calling him the ignorant king lol Even both Utsukare and Nikukare the story problem rooted with Hira while Kiyoi was the one trying to balance and solve it.

But you are right tho, the story gave them equal time to shine so they are basically both MC of their own narration.

It’s true I do find Hira’s character more relatable at first too until I found out they toned down his characters a lot in the drama adaptation 😂 in original, he’s super creepy and cringe (in a way I can’t really hate him tho) especially in second book which make you question how could Kiyoi even loves him head over heels. As for Kiyoi calling him “Kimoi” it’s not as heavy as the English translation was, I saw a lot of Japanese fans try to explain to us lol it’s more of a child swear than actual cursing. I also don’t speak English so I don’t find that word offensive until I saw so much rage from the English side of fandom for this series over it lmao

Then maybe you can try listening to the Audio drama CD ? It’s not as detail in story like novel but some events and dialogues weren’t cut and still more than the drama. There’s eng translation you can try to find in the topic discussion on this page.

It’s true especially Utsukushii kare novel the sex scene alone took 20+ pages + all the things Hira and Kiyoi lived together and does a lot of stuff before they even dated ( It was cut completely from the drama and I understood lol)😂 at least the drama did as much as they could for non R-Rated adaptation and gave hint to what happened in the novel.

His acting with his eyes and the subtle expression in Utsukushii Kare was amazing, especially it’s his first acting. Kiyoi Sou was a complicated character who hid his emotion and therefore difficult to be portray in a way that let Audiences know what’s up before his turn to tell the story but Yusei did it. Hoping to see him in season 2 or another Drama/movie.

It’s funny and I feel bad since I had seen same things many times this week so I need to address this 😂 Many who came here and expecting people to agree with your negative comments/bashing instead of talking back, you will be disappointed, this page has been used by the fans of series to keep track of novel/CD/Manga update because all are still not available for english version and actively get updated slowly. I don’t mind both the good and bad side of the discussion, but I keep seeing people whining like little baby or delete comments because people talking back to them so I need to warn LOL

Haha I just express how i feel about the drama as someone who also thought it won’t be good before it started. It ended up being a drama full of hidden detail and something you can enjoy thinking about after it ended.
