Just drop by to say that this show broke me badly that I couldn’t watch any BL or romance genre in general after it lol I thought I might become come a BL drama fan after I like this one but it turns out the opposite.

They make me want to try watching more BL to see if this kinda of good acting and directing is so rare that’s why everyone coming to this drama acting like a child never been in literature class or never read a book.

I have so many things to point out but the most wrong thing in this is how you said Kiyoi made him unhappy and Koyama made him smile.

The only time Hira was showed happy and smiling was when he was with Kiyoi but when he was with Koyama, his eyes were blank and the emptiness in his expression was showed clearly by the actor until he met Kiyoi again that his eyes lit up. Yes, Koyama was nice to him but if it made him empty should he stay like that with him and lie to himself and Koyama, at least Hira knew what he was doing and rejected before he hurt Koyama in the future? He was interested in Kiyoi bc Kiyoi took the unwanted attention from him on their first meet, he then started to get obsessed with Kiyoi bc Kiyoi’s existence gave him strength to stand up (even more on this when he became working adult if the drama decide to adapt 2nd novel) and it’s the same with why Kiyoi was interested in him too. All clearly stated in both narration, anyone who paid attention wouldn’t miss. He could stay with Koyama bc that’s what everyone like Koyama and you think as ‘normal’ but if he wasn’t happy with it, wouldn’t that feel like a selfish marriage to the person you don’t like but others said the best for you?

Make sense if you find Kiyoi acting a bit weak bc it's Yusei( Kiyoi )'s first acting role especially when being next to his co-star Riku(Hira) who is a more experienced actor and was a trained child actor. But I still considered it good when It's for a character that could be difficult to portray like Kiyoi. I like his acting more when I do rewatch and love the subtle in his expression.

Minato is nowhere near being teen since his friends and him are already working men, some people just look younger than their age. Minato’s actor is in fact even older than Riku Hagiwara (Hira) while Tsuge’s actor is younger than 30 and only a small age difference between them.

It seems to be for Netflix Japan but hopefully it will be global Netflix after too.

Which one is best which one is better is only the matter of taste and preference, all 3 have great production quality and are my favorites even tho Utsukare has more limited time to tell the story. Some might find this better, others might prefer fluff to look for comfort distant from reality. Also this is a much different genre from the two you mentioned, despite the drama being shot with light cinematography, Utsukare was adapted from an adult psychological romance novel, even the recent manga adaptation of it was drawn in a dark tone.

They completely missed the point of the story lol this one may started with two troublesome kids who MIGHT end up in bad relationship but in the end it’s all about communication, growth and consent being emphasized before the two characters are allowed to get together in a relationship. They are no ideal relationship but nowhere near being abusive relationship as people claimed left and right.

Wish it was 8 episodes drama would be perfect to complete Kiyoi POV :( since his POV half of it was during the time they moved in together, when the drama cut that part out completely, Kiyoi’s part only left with the flashback and the part he thought of moving on from Hira before ending

Not sure if it will get better for you but 1-4 are Hira’s narration and can be quite unreliable IMO lol keep watching bc most of us enjoy Kiyoi’s narration in later episode more

I guess people are being nervous that they could get queer baited like many other shows out there but at least they didn’t erase Shiro’s sexuality in this and they promoted as bromance from the start.
