The way that many lines that Hira said in his narration are also said and thought by Kiyoi’s narration?? I feel emotional with that or maybe I’m just dramatic. They felt like two people so similar yet so different brought in together and just felt attracted to each other like magnet because they need each other.
Just watched ep 5 and I can say it’s already the most outstanding episode and made me like the drama so much. Everything happened for a reason and everything has t different perspective to it. I can’t believe this drama is ending next episode, it was such an excited experience.
Both Kiyoi and Hira admit and know their bad sides and it's being addressed directly in the show, just people…
A lot of people have been calling him abuser until now it’s weird and uncomfortable since it might as well lighten the meaning of abuse. On twitter, people will call you abuser apologist and straight girl fetishizing toxic BL for liking this drama 😀 Yeah they will assume your sexuality and gender just to hate on this drama yikes

I guess bc first person point of view isn’t used often in drama, so people think Hira’s words is the final lol idk too, I just find it fun to analyze a drama that clearly has a lot of details and thoughts for you to think in it and now people are calling us abuser apologists lmao
Found all kind of weird criticism about this drama and character but the funny one I saw recently is when Someone said they found Kiyoi toxic because he has similar build and height with Hira, If he was smaller and act like this they won’t think it’s toxic 💀 I start to think this word is being thrown too often that people don’t know what it actually means.

I love how these characters don’t brush off their bad traits as nothing and getting called out and aware of it, also I think it’s kinda the intention of the show to get people on Hira’s side and hate Kiyoi from his POV and only to reveal other side of the story later on. Kinda telling us that like irl, every story has 2 sides to judge on. (Thank you, I really love their bike scene and talented people on tumblr have been making these edit)
man...if this was a straight drama and kiyoi was a girl people would hate hira. this guy follwing this pretty…
Both Kiyoi and Hira admit and know their bad sides and it's being addressed directly in the show, just people being only hostile toward Kiyoi I think because they are in Hira's side of the story so far so they feel relate or sympathize with the character? just my thoughts lol but i agree, I love the show but there's no way to not see the personality flaws.
To tell you the turth I am sure no one outside of Japan has heard about the novel before if not for the drama…
I really want to hear a news of it getting official english release. The novel and the illustrations in them are so beautiful from what i saw. Either that or I will have to go back to Thai class so i can read the Thai version 🤡
I didn't write any comments here but I want to share my thought and vent about how I like this so much..I see…
I like Hira but I also think if people’s gonna criticize Kiyoi, Hira’s action should be equally blamed. I feel like People are soft on Hira bc a lot of them can relate/sympathize with him 🥶
To tell you the turth I am sure no one outside of Japan has heard about the novel before if not for the drama…
Yeah it’s popular enough to get official translated in other languages (not english) like Chinese and Thai and I heard it’s award winning novel, not sure if it won or the author won for her other work. But yea I think i don’t know it bc I don’t really follow BL stuff other than some manga and recently drama/movie
The funniest part is how they're so upset about fictional characters being possibly mistreated, they'd be racist…
I would like to add some slice of life but with important messages like “His”, “love on the line” and short film “Surrogacy ” from Japan. As for manga, I don’t keep track of what i read but there are unforgettable example like “smell like green spirit” and “ until I meet my husband ” which was written base on real story of a gay activist. I believe there are more great example but sadly if it’s labeled as GL/BL people will suddenly assume it’s a fetish. I had met the young girls who fetishize yaoi irl and they made me uncomfortable with their concept and it’s a total different case.

I’m always irritate at the use of word “fetishize” without knowing the real meaning of it and it’s harmful bc some people just use it to put down queer contents especially asian contents. Some good lgbtq manga are under the label as BL which just simply mean love between boys and are written by lgbtq people or being supervised by one but being called fetishized contents by some westerners making it reach less audiences is just disheartening.

I saw this a lot in anime fandom and K-pop fandom whenever it got noticed by the west, there’s no peace just full of people gatekeeping and belittle asian bc it doesn’t fit their mindset. This is my first time following BL/Jdrama closely since i thought it’s lesser known to them so i didn’t expect to see them here too.
Man… I can’t generalize but whenever I see some western viewer’s take on this one I just automatically click my tongue lol Let people enjoy their fiction thing, no need to get lowkey racist over a show you don’t understand, don’t act like popular western show are not problematic. Also, It’s not a criticism if you don’t even understand it or open your mind in the first place.
At this point it became a fill in the blank kind of meme
