I think the show is more about the humanity aspect rather then the scifi or reapers or time freezing stuff.
It is - that's what so many KDramas do - take a weird, dramatic, fantasy or SF theme, and show the human reaction to that. This drama has several moving mini-stories of people caught up in the rules of those shinigami, and also other situations. Very moving indeed.
WHY do all of you who say this is somehow 'boring' not explain what you mean for those of us who don't see this?…
Exactly. I do find the main girl's character a tad annoying sometimes, but it's no big deal at all. The concept is intriguing, the story interesting, the plot well-realized (it IS a short drama), and all the actors are doing great! KHJ is really showing how much he's improved as an actor - he's spot-on for this character :D
For one thing, ALL these characters are reincarnated (except our fairy), starting out as heavenly beings. So the ages of the actors is completely immaterial. Besides, they don't look anywhere near as far apart in age as they actually are. She easily passes for 25. He does look younger than her but not that much. People get WAYYYY too hung up on age, especially on either perceived age (I've seen it with my brother and his wife - she really has always looked older than him - when they first met I thought she was in her late 20s/early 30s - my brother was 24 - but she's only 6 MONTHS older LOL) or real age differences that are imperceptible until people find out real ages (I was 5 years older than my first husband - nobody knew unless one of us told them cause I looked younger than him) Really, it's a stupid hang-up.
So I guess my dad (and other amputees) should just somehow throw away their artificial legs? Or do you just mean…
The device was not harmful. It got damaged when he got tasered, but he wouldn't just let it be repaired and he also didn't follow his doctor's advice to rest and get rid of the toxins that got released in his system due to the taser damaging the prosthetic arm. Yes, he was letting his shame at his disability and wish to hide it compromise his health - he should simply have done what his doctor told to do, be in bed for a week and the wheelchair for a couple weeks after that - then the device would have been repaired, his infection cleared up, and no problems!!!!
Can someone explain the ending? I didn’t totally get it. (Completely open to a spoiler & Thanks in advance)
It was stated several times that a) the device needed tweaking - ie fixing, which would take a couple months, & b) he needed to recuperate from the damage that taser attack gave him. He was putting it off cause he was in love.
This story would be more meaningfull if he accepted in the last episode his disability. And also a lot of questions…
So I guess my dad (and other amputees) should just somehow throw away their artificial legs? Or do you just mean his hiding of his arm/leg enhancers? I think he was not around for that last scene at the airport for some reason & that was a standin :(
So far I've counted 5 of Christie's murder mysteries acted out, with a clever little reference to Bertram's Hotel…
OMG, :( Nononononon :( Branagh's Poirot is anything but. Getting into a FIGHT????? GREY mustache???? The voice was decent, but OMG. David Suchet is THE definitive Poirot :( BTW agree w/you about Wallander - but I think Branagh did a much better job there than with Poirot. Watch Joan Hickson's Miss Marple. Agatha Christie herself much approved that casting, and I think she is the best of the bunch by a long way. Agatha Christie is now being studied in college lit classes! High time, too. She had an absolute gift for plotting mysteries, and for succinctly creating memorable, realistic characters! Her humor made the books so much more fun as well :d
Even though it’s somewhat predictable, every revelation still has unexpected twists to it, and the atmosphere…
Actually, these were taken right from 5 Miss Marple novels. The only one that has little relation to the original is the Bertram reference, but I can see one main likeness to 'At Bertram's Hotel' - the murderer in that book made a brief appearance in this :D
In the Korean, there's no way to differentiate between 'a' god/deity or 'The' god/deity except in context. And boy, the context here is shady shady shady for this to be an Abrahamic idea of the afterlife. It's very recognizably the shamanistic folklore of Korea & Asia, however. Where there are multiple deities, with the Jade Emperor ruling. This guy sure ain't the Jade Emperor...
Anyone saying that has absolutely no concept of a good actor.
So many people seem to think there's no way to objectively rate acting ability. That's just not true. Liking or not liking a character, a style of writing, a plot, an actor (for something other than acting ability) - that's opinion. But there are definite criteria to judge the skills of writers, actors, directors, etc. To pretend these don't exist is completely inaccurate. I totally stand by my statement - anyone saying SIG didn't carry this role to perfection is ignorant about what constitutes good acting. PERIOD.
Tragedy. It's a classic high tragedy, not a melodrama at all.
Oh, it's just me being an English teacher - I was so very pleasantly surprised at the way this drama developed (along side the constant sobbing, of course LOL)
