I really am enjoying this drama - I have NO idea why it has such a low rating when there are demonstrably worse…
I actually liked a lot of Vampire Detective - it was episodic for much of it which was nice. But that ENDING which failed utterly to give closure & totally lacked any logic!
It is not exactly only about personal enjoyment, BTW. There ARE real critical standards that can be used to judge a creative work, believe it or not. With a drama, acting ability, script writing, camera work, special effects, directing, musical score and editing can all be evaluated and expert criticism given. That's not to say that some works that aren't up to par in a lot of those areas can't give enjoyment for one reason or another. But it DOES make the statement, for instance, that Goblin was overall a better written, acted, filmed & conceived drama than Bride of Habaek perfectly factual. Still doesn't dilute my enjoyment of Habaek one iota, however!

Obviously not everyone shares my opinion. However, using ratings to reflect quality is always a fail. In this case, it is airing late (11:30) & there's a lot of public opinion against it for reasons having nothing to do with the actual drama. Yours, for instance, in mentioning the manhwa, when this is a spin-off that is not very connected to said manhwa. Others when they are hating on certain actors or pairings without any real reference to actual performance in this drama. I daresay most people watching this are streaming rather than watching live when it airs on TV - ergo it WILL have low ratings obviously.
That doesn't mean that it's wonderful, a huge hit, etc etc. Just that some of the reasons for the commercial 'failure' are a bit artificial.

Every single crime show on all over the world has this exact same problem LOL Think about the poor residents of Midsomer County, Britain ROFLMAO After 24 years I think every single resident has either a relative who got murdered or is a murderer LOL

That's a rather silly statement. This is also an excellent drama - different kind really. Both are eminently worth watching. It's kind of like saying that just because Hamlet is fantastic you can't watch any other tragedy LOL

Yes, I expect that also has lots to do with it - but let's remember those ratings only reflect who's watching it AS IT AIRS. Also it is airing at 11:50 which is pretty late!

This drama is only a failure as far as ratings go, while airing. In actuality it is a fun, interesting little bit of fluff, & may do quite well online & w/international sales. This is not a horrible drama at all, unlike quite a few others I could list.
Kocowa will have exclusive rights to all the dramas from the big 3 agencies (MBC, KBS, SBS) - actually it is those agencies' streaming site to put it more accurately...
Everything tends to be overhyped. I really don't understand why the hate for the acting - it's fine! Our CEO is putting in a stellar performance as usual, & even Krystal is managing.

We really don't know if that's the actual choice or if it's the jealous goddess just saying that. I'm reserving judgement until I see how they wrap this up - so far I've been entertained, but the writers could easily destroy that in the last episodes - certainly has happened before.
