This drama has become a complete mess... I tried to look away but I can't stand it anymore. It's like…
You say you've read mythology yet fail to understand the irony of your complaint that the gods in Habaek are acting arrogant rich brats - as if Zeus & company DON'T act like that ALL the TIME.....
I don't like Nam Goong Min and I'm a bit tired of this kind of plot. Be honest, should I watch it? If…
Can't imagine what's not to like about Nam Goong Min - totally fantastic actor - but if you don't like crime/intrigue type suspense dramas this is NOT the one for you - especially if you don't like the actor.
I'd watch Criminal Minds rather than this if I were forced to choose (thankfully I'm not) - & yes, that is just a crime show w/o the political stuff.
Forest of Secrets has ruined me - I can't enjoy crime dramas anymore because I realise how mediocre they…
Oh, but I like Criminal Minds as WELL - wow! I happen to like this GENRE - so I loved Stranger, like Falsify, like Criminal Minds! All three! Mind blown now?
Come guys, I know you liked stranger but this drama does not deserve to fall under 8.0 =(
It always astounds me that certain people (probably rather young ones) feel somehow that if they like one drama of a certain genre they have to hate others of the same type - as if it's disloyal to like (in this case) Stranger & Falsify LOL I too think Stranger is better - but I still LIKE Falsify! Good grief!
Half the KDramas I've watched had close female friendships - about two thirds had bromances. This out of 275 dramas. Maybe 30 of these did NOT pass the Bechdal test (ie have 2 named female characters talk to each other about something other than their love lives...or men - ie they talk about work, cases, housework, their moms or kids, school, etc). So, yeah, I agree there are more bromances than sistmance, but still, not so shabby compared to the US!
I really feel you on this. Most K-dramas would so not pass the Bechdel Test. My favourite one that does is Reply…
Actually that is PATENTLY untrue - most KDramas DO pass the Bechdal test, honey - even the ones w/o a so-called sistmance. That's because the casts are more balanced (as in almost as many if not more women as men) & often the boss & one lead are both women in the same office (so they HAVE to talk about, you know, work) or you have a family where the women get together to talk about housekeeping etc. KDramas are MILES ahead of most US dramas this way.
Its so bad, like the writers have no idea on how human beings interact, they just want the thing to happen, without…
There's a lot to like about this show. Your take on what gods SHOULD be like is obviously different not only from that of the writers on this show, but of the mythologies of Greece, Rome, & I do believe ancient China. This is how most deities have always been portrayed, like it or not.
As for human behavior, which 'humans' do you mean? Most of the characters in this drama AREN'T human....
We get it - you hate this.
This is a fine fantasy modern fairy tale. All the whining comes from people who a)like to compare everything to their fav (& diss a drama if it doesn't quite measure up), b) who prefer the manhwa, c) hate the lead actress or don't think the lead actor is as good as he was in something else (see reason a), or d) don't really like fantasy/romcom/unrealistic dramas.
For what it is, this is a nice, entertaining little drama. Not as good as Goblin but same genre, lots of pretty, some very funny scenes (especially in the first few episodes), a mystery that intrigues me at least, & an ambivalent character played very very well by Im Joo Hwan, which is part of that intriguing mystery.
There are plot holes, leaps of logic, & loose ends (although not too fair since it's not over yet) - but nothing that makes this unwatcheable at all. As far as the acting, it is solid and professional. Krystal is not making me cringe (great), Im Joo Hwan is a joy to see (such a good actor), Nam Joo Hyuk portrays Habaek exactly as needed (& just basically lights up the screen whenever he's on) - & Gong Myung LOL Bad boy LOL
As far as our lead actress, I've liked her in everything she's done - as an actress. She delivers decent, believable performances. I wouldn't necessarily call her a GREAT actress, but then that's not what I expect from this kind of drama. She's certainly giving a solid performance, if not riveting. I don't expect everyone to be Gong Hyo Jin or Meryl Streep, LOL
Watch it for what it is.
Sorry, MY personal opinion is that anyone who would refuse to see a really good movie simply because they didn't like one of the minor actors is being silly. So sorry. If you've other reasons, whatever - you didn't say.
This has been dreadful. Not sure where the good reviews come from.
No, I ASKED you why you had that opinion. Go back up & read it yourself. You are reading anger into a post based on what you've perceived in other unrelated posts of mine. The truly pathetic one here is you - and it wasn't until your latest posts because you weren't the one whining about my request initially.
