Trin and Tanwa connected through their losses in this episode. Tanwa opened up to Trin how he lost his mother. Trin can understand it because he lost his girlfriend too. It is was important when he asked Tanwa if he would stop his mother if he could (probably still feel guilty at he couldn’t stop his girlfriend going to the protests) and I think Tanwa’s answer was very important for Trin. Tanwa might take things lightly on the surface but each episode he has said something to change Trin’s perspectives on his view to himself, his experiences and life. Just because Trin talks with certain issues with Victor doesn’t mean that he would want to shag his student( I will be surprised if he does). It is bold and naive of Victor that he has a shot with Trin.
Out of all the characters, i would expect Trin be the last one to pull "what are we now?’ card hah! Such a possessive guy once he moves past his sexuality crisis😅
Tanwa gives so much joy to the viewers when he appears on screen, gives more dimensions to Shine as a whole
He will not be that joyful all the time (His father hitting him, destroying his guitar, sb punching him in the trailer) but even then he will still create a good contrast in the story.
Ah ok, then let me talk about Tanwa a bit more! 😇😇 Many viewers commented on the contrasts of some TT vs KN scenes. Like, Tanwa dragging Trin to the outside, to the rain and sunlight when Krailert dragged Naran to a more closed space and more darkness. Tanwa pushes Trin to be free when Naran wil have to hide to be with K. I like that two couples contrast with each other.
I was watching the Tanwa-Trin garden scene and the way Tanwa makes everything so simple, sensible and comfortable and how it catches Trin off guard. -Are you happy here? Than stay. -You can try whatever you like, how can you know otherwise? And Trin’s struggle is; he wants to let himself go SO BAD. Feeling how he feels, dancing under the rain and stay with the person you like as much as possible. Just existing as he is. It feels JUST RIGHT. But things are not that simple when he leaves Tanwa’s side. Surrounding with all the social judgements, social structures he believes in, prejudices and his belief that something is wrong with him because he likes a guy. How is something so right for you can be so wrong for others? How can Trin make himself believe that it is wrong when he feels that happy? I think he will say fck it at some point. Looking forward when that happens.
So, I know a man's gotta love, but I still can't help thinking that Kert had initially gone out with an actor…
I see your point but what is he supposed to do? Shutting himself down completely in a loveless marriage he didn’t want, depressed and let life go by? He was doing just that until he saw a light for himself. He saw a chance to love again and jumped in without thinking too much. I was even suprised how open and vulnerable he can be with Naran after that trauma imo. Maybe he thinks that he can protect Naran now that he is in a more powerful position.? Maybe he will risk his own destruction on the way? We will see…
Why do some people start talking about a love triangle btw Tanwa, Trin and Victor? Am I missing a scene or do people know what a proper love triangle means? For this to be a triangle, the object of the common affection (hence: Trin) has to be even a bit confused. Well, he is confused but because he likes Tanwa too much! Did you see how he stare at those origamis for the last two episodes? the literal embodiment of heart eyes emoji👉😍 We don’t even know what Victor saw during that last scene btw Tanwa and Trin and how he feels about it or what will make of it but it will definitely not be a triangle. That is for sure. One sided crush at most. And his role in this series cannot not be reduced to a student who has a crush to his professor. He has a different purpose in the story. The two couple are set and I can say that whatever will come between them, it will not be a third person, imo. That is not what Shine is about.
-The students saw Tanwa and Trin leaving together and connected to their father-uncle relation. I am curious if this will harm Trin’s reputation in students eyes and if Victor’s reaction in the last scenes has anything to do with that. Trin is from a well-known military family and now he is seen with the son of the certain businessman. And Victor has probably seen Tanwa in lots of…affairs in the hotel, he thinks T is shagging Moira. -I bet Dhevi will see KN together at one point. Even if them just standing together, she would know what is up. All it takes for her to see how her husband looks or smiles at Naran. Hell, that would be even more devastating than seeing their kissing. -Naran will not stop making news about military government’s shady business. That will put K in a very difficult situation. Though he didn’t bring up Naran’s news to his face even if he is very stressed about it because he is totally consumed by their situation. And he has already disregarded the suggestions to "handle" Naran and he will probably continue to protect him but for how long? Veera is paying attention already… -I am curious how (or if) uncle-nephew will come out to each other. When it is about having depression by suppressing your sexuality, Krailert knows one or two things. Unlike Trin, he knows who he is though, he is an experienced gay man who has to hide. Their struggles are different but the root of it is the same. -"Cheating breaks the whole deal, dork" Did Trin mean it literally and figuratively? He seems strictly monogamous and Tanwa has to give up his "relations sexuelles" if he wants smt with him.
Wym you're in the minority , gurl I'm loving that slow burn 😭
Please… Nobody can come close when it comes to finding ways to flirt with your crush than my creative hippie baby! He likes tormenting Trin and I like watching it!
-Tanwa… you are my bitch, my spirit animal and everything that I would like to be (such as being that confident by not finishing unv in 10 years or jumping into the pool so professionally) -I also appreciate Tanwa is up for anything with Trin. Origami making, under the pool kissing, under the rain flirting, some teacher-student fantasy, turning your crush into a pothead, serenading… What can I say, I appreciate creative hippies… -You know what? I feel for the librarian woman the most. That woman is paid for to handle BOOKS, no one mentioned being the gatekeeper of closeted and repressed gays’ turbulent love story?!! If I were her, I would locked those two into that room sooner. Libraries are supposed to smell dust and paper not testosterone, damn! -Victor…darling, no idea who you are attached to or angry at (or both) but if it is Trin then you need to start taking some origami courses instead… Clearly it is a big turn on for Trin. -Dhevi… my dear… did you have to blurt oout about babies when your husband managed to wind up enough once in a…5 years? I know you desperately need smt to hold on to but is it smart to add a baby to that disaster? And sorry, not sorry about your father’s death. I hope he doesn’t rest in peace. -Trin… You’re my Honeybunch, Sugarplum Pumpy-umpy-umpkin, You’re my Sweetie Pie and I don’t think I can handle one more episode of how lovingly you look at those damn origamis. I FEEL FRUSTRATED FOR YOUR SAKE. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
The song Naran and Krailert quoted (as they were flirting) during library scene: https://www.tumblr.com/heaven-is-in-your-arms-series/791969181602136064 Apparently it is a very famous song which has been covered many times. The 1960’s version was very popular at the time because it was performed by two very famous singers: Suthep Wongkamhaeng and Sawalee Pakaphan.
I should also mention about the young cast: Peter doing a very good job as Victor so far. Victor is one of the important roles and it is Peter’s debut role. What we have seen from him so far is very promising, imo. Mio, Fuaiz and Bump are also in the student camp and we will see more of them during student protests, I guess. We will see what Jjay as hippie Sucha will do. I liked him in 4 minutes already so I know he will deliver what he has here. I am also looking for what Senam will do. (And I hope BoC will create opportunities for all of them as actors out of the agency projects. Let and help them grow, BOC) In addition to them, I am curious about Victor’s father, story wise if smt else will come out of him. It is a very strong cast overall but also pretty crowded cast and we have just 8 episodes. So I am not expecting long scree times for everybody but it is about quality not quantity. I haven’t feel like any actor is out of place or fall flat and I easily feel that when I especially watch bl… I want Shine to succeed for Mile & Apo first and foremost but I also want Shine to succeed so it can open new doors and opportunities for each actor in the cast🤘🤞
Sigh • Trin is Thai, from a very affluent family, who studied abroad in France during the Cold War and returned…
-copy paste from press release- A tale of love and ideals unfolds in an era resistant to diversity set against the backdrop of the political turmoil of 1969-1971. Trin, a principled economist, collides with Thanwa, a free-spirited hippie. When they encounter Moira, an extravagant widow who lives far beyond the boundaries of freedom, their lives take an unpredictable turn. -copy paste ended-
And here is a little more explanation since you seem to need help to get the plot and I feel generous to educate: A bunch of characters (mainly closeted queers) from different social status in 1960’s Thailand tries to navigate under army controlled government and trying to explore and to live through their queerness.
All good? Good. Now please go and entertain yourself with Avengers an all. Cheers!🥂🥂

Hats off to you! This is great-detailed character descriptions with contexts 👏🥂 Would you consider to open a topic in discussion section and put this there? So confused folk can go and check.
