I take it back lol. I just watched the ending part of Ep 26

YeZi is the character that confuses me the most in this show because in the book, I know what she did, but from the way she is in the drama, she does not look the type. In the beginning, from her first encounter with MYC, she looked like she had him in her sights because of his wealth, so she was trying to get him to acknowledge her. Now she somewhat looks like a good person. Is she more confident now because of their interactions?
But at the same time, there is a part of the teasers that show XQ and SY in front of the police station again, and they were hugging and the only other time they went there and such happened was for MYC's case. So I'm waiting her out lol.

On another note, if MYC is really getting attracted to or interested in YZ, it'd be so hilarious because neither of the kids is following their mother's plans for romance lmaoooo. They are doing the exact opposite of her wishes loooool.

Now that I think about it, I think they took it out because they modified her character description for the drama. She is not cold in the drama, and she is much less indifferent. She is more cheerful here and actually interacts with people. So it may not have made sense in the overall look

But insomnia does not equal depression. There was even a time in the novel that she went to see a psychologist friend.

The novel was like this. Like a reward the faithful kind of thing lol

The conversation between SY and MYC that I have been waiting for is happening tomorrow. But, from the way the preview is cut, it looks like they took out the part about her being depressed

Exactly. This is so much fun to me.

The drama is going a greater length to show them going somewhat back to square one to know each other again before they start dating again. This entire arc is not in the novel the way it is in the drama. Like this collaboration between the hospital and fire station arc is not there. I think it works better for the drama because there are a lot of thoughts and reasons for their actions that are told in the novel, but would be very difficult to pull off in the drama, unless they had a narrator that said those things. So this is actually the best direction for the drama.
I would say SY knows her well enough to know what direction her thoughts are at and would be able to handle it if it ever came to that. But both of them are learning. And SY was kinda reacting because of the conversations with her mother and brother. They will get better when they have a definitive stance.

That is not something to make her insecure. It is something to wake her up. She is very comfortable because they are toeing the line rn. SY is very brutal and straight to the point with all the women that approach him because he knows he is not interested, so no need to give them any opportunity. So on what basis is she trying to know everything about him? As friends? As people that are flirting or in the talking stage? But their relationship is not that simple. So what is she going to do with the information about who he is now and who he has been for 10 years? If she finds out, will it give her the courage to fight for them? To come to him? Or will it give him hope and leave him crushed when she remains the same way? Should he not protect himself at all?
In the end, the problem/question remains the same. Is she ready to stand up for herself and them?

I am aware that I excluded the emotional abuse she received when discussing her leaving her family. That is because the base argument still remains, especially since they still took care of her and she still loves them as her parents.

I do not think so, especially since with what I read from the novel. Also in ep 13, he was the one that wanted to pay the compensation for the laid off workers, but the wife said no and he did not push it. Even with what Fu Wenying did to SY, he was not aware until later. He even scolded her for it. It is not a strategy, he's just cowardly and a push over.

Let me give a new perspective to SY and XQ. Character development in a real individual is not linear. It does not go straight and keep going straight until perfect reformation. When you are trying to change, there will be ups and downs. That is because you are human. Even when you get to the standard level, you can still slip up or fall. So while watching a show that is aimed at showing real people with flaws, you should have that in mind.

SY and XQ's relationship with each other now may seem frustrating, but it is because they are dancing around what they are to each other. They both know they have feelings for each other, and have such a history, so they cannot comfortably be just friends. But then with their reality, it is not easy to become lovers either.

Someone said it is not easy for XQ because SY did not give her enough assurance and security and that is simply not true. She knows the type of person he is. He has treated her well since they were kids. He has protected her and fought for her and done things for her at her slightest request. She did not even need to directly say it to him, he knew what to do and did it for her. That is why she said she believed him when he said that he'd love her with his life. It was because he showed her that the all the time. Even in present time, he has time and again left everything up to her. He told her that if she came to him, he'd take care of everything else. So the problem here is not on his side. She needs to be brave and decisive, and almost losing him sobered her up real quick (earthquake arc).
As for XQ, earlier, she did not know he was walking towards her, but now she knows, at least that in their present time, he is. But she wants it all. At this time, the choices are to leave a man and your happiness for your family, or leave your family for a man and the later sounds worse lol. I cannot imagine throwing away my entire family for a man when anything could happen between the both of us in the future and when they gave me a chance at a good life. So at this moment, she has not found or gotten to a position (promotion at work) that would give her the right balance and empower her to be brave enough.
SY needs the boundary between them to survive, even as he waits for her. Also, he's subtly pushing her to make a decision, or it'd take them forever or never lol

If the Meng father was in charge pf his household, Xu Qin and MYC would not have suffered this much. But he is cowardly and a pushover. He actually loves XQ like she is his real daughter, but it is obvious that Fu Wenying sees her as a pawn to gain more power. Even in the novel, it was the father that put in effort to reconcile XQ with the family, but that woman did not even try.

I laughed so hard lol. He and his mother are similar, while the father is cowardly.
