Is there a way to watch it elsewhere? That subscription is not available for my region apparently.
That’s the only legal site that I could find it on. YT has some Naruse films on it but I didn’t see this one there. Might be available on alternative sites. You might check Internet Archive.

Trigger warning: Bare old man butts in a bath house.
I try to make sure anything triggering is noted. No twigs and berries showed—-thankfully. 😆

Pretty much. The number of coincidences and sheer luck was astonishing. Poor Chen Kun’s face just got bloodier…
He did look particularly fine in this film even if he didn't look like he was in his 20s. 😏

Chen Kun’s face just got bloodier and more beaten as the film went along. Apparently Fate was trying to beat some sense into his character.

Review The Glory
So many dramas start out with an intriguing premise but lack commitment and falter on the back half.

I wonder if I should even watch this. It seems too real to my own Beloved maternal grandmother's story which is…
It’s a feel good movie so everyone learns valuable lessons by the end. But if this is too close to a personal sound you may want to avoid it.

My grandmother was not wealthy but split everything equally between her three children, or in the case of my deceased mother, my sister and me as her share. Amongst us there were no quarrels as everything was shared fairly. That didn’t stop distant relatives from suddenly showing up which was really gross. The only part of this movie that made me cry was remembering the beautiful woman who touched me with her love and wisdom and is still sorely missed.

I think if I wad watching it when it was airing and everyone was hyping it, my disappointment would be bigger…
I kept wondering if I was watching the same drama. 😄

Thanks for this review. The title made me notice it but the topic seems quite distasteful and probably difficult…
Most people who watched this were deeply moved. It has a high MDL score. But it’s one of those films I had to struggle through the majority of it to get the payoff in the final minutes.

Chalk it up to me knowing too many M’s IRL when my grandmother was dying. Relatives who were always scarce unless they smelled money.
