It was my first wuxia and got me hooked. Also made me a lifelong fan of Michelle Yeoh

It’s a mixed bag. I rate everything before 1990 on a generous curve. Oh and in my notes MAC means Martial Arts Challenge. I watch a martial arts movie a day for a month and write a review for it. Have had 3 Marathons so far.

I am glad its not just Chinese dramas that casts roles without paying attention to age!
No indeed. Ozu did this all the time. He used a lot of the same actors and even used the same character names repeatedly. Two of the “children” in Tokyo Story were only a couple of years younger than “elderly father” Ryu. 😄

Review Go East
“Her piteous and repetitive crying scenes made me yawn and roll my eyes. For sure, these scenes are exaggerated for comedic effect but her constant smug expression made her seem mean instead of endearing or comical.”

Enough for me to avoid this drama. Thanks for the excellent review!

I’m sure there are probably other sites. I watched it on the Criterion Channel.

Review Lost and Love
Thanks for the review. The recent iQiyi drama Lost in the Shadows also explores this theme. The closing credits…
Thanks. This film was hard enough for me to finish. The parents are left with a gaping wound that will never heal. Heartbreaking.

Thank you. 😊 🌸

This actress was traumatized and left the industry soon afterwards. No charges and he had plenty of excuses but this is the story that made me not want to watch his movies. He brought in an actor at the last minute to play the rapist, assured Sin Man she would be safe and nothing to make her uncomfortable, and then after finally stopping the scene after it was too late, still used parts of it in the film. That was what soured me, even if he didn't realize she was being raped. Who would put even parts of that scene out there for the world to see?

How are there no comments on this guy being named as a rapist in multiple cases, the one against Yammie Lam he…
How about Yu Sin Man who was literally raped while he directed a scene for Fatal Vacation. He claims he thought she was just into the scene even though he told her if she was uncomfortable during the scene to let him know. She was screaming and finally someone else realized she was being assaulted. They kept the scene in the movie. MDL biography makes him sound like a saint.

Wow - sounds like Sex and the City even before Sex and the City.
Twenty years before Sex and the City! 9 to 5 was considered one of the top feminist Hollywood films from that time and they had to approach it with comedy. I was just surprised to find this film from 1982 in a conservative Catholic country that had been under martial law and might still have been when it was in production.

Only they weren’t delusions and the real world could interact. Her son and her ghost son were able to cross over into the television in the movie that hadn’t yet been filmed. 😄
