I tried at first to explain some stuff to one of these haters cuz his criticisms were explained in the drama, but all I got in response was insults.

King the Land ending was horrid in regard to the FL, it doesn't deserve anymore rating than it already has.

If this wasn't a romcom, and it was a serious police or crime driven drama for sure I would have had a problem with an underdeveloped villain, at the least I would have wanted to see their motivations.

But this is a romcom, and all I wanted was two destined lovers going through and overcoming some terrible stuff and coming out the other end even more in love and happy.
Romcoms lately have started to take themselves too seriously, they keep on adding stuff that's in a completely different genre than the one they've been advertising as, they take it so far that the comedy and romance take a Back foot and the drama becomes a mess, so seeing LR just focusing on the couple, their story and keeping the time travel science and the villain as vague as possible was a fresh breath of air.

I kind of liked that the villain was just pure evil (like how in Lord of the Rings Sauron is just evil), too many dramas and movies nowadays try way too hard to humanize the villain and waste so much screen-time on that, I'd rather have that screen-time to be used for the main couple.
Like in strong girl nam soon, they spent so much time on the villain that I wanted him to be redeemed and get together with the FL.

If you had read my comment you could clearly see that I never said it was QOT fans, someone else said that, and I said that I haven't even seen QOT.
I also only watched LR after it and finished airing, so I'm not in the loop of what was happening back then.

From what I've seen, the hate stems from pure jealousy that LR got a better rating than their fav drama, and they took their saltiness to a whole other level.

Yeah! funny thing is the moment I give them an answer to their "complaint" instead of having a proper argument and just talk, they go rogue and instantly start insulting, that's their whole defense🤣

They're salty LR got a better rating than their fav drama, that's it! that's their whole reason. If you look at their comments, they run circles around it and never outright say it, but it's very obvious to infer.

Like if irl someone tells me that my girl is always seen hanging and talking and chilling with some dude, and she is not setting any boundaries, I'd be out of that relationship so fast😶‍🌫️
I also feel like writers that don't have the brain or the talent to write a proper story for 16 episodes have to use a toxic SML just to fill the time cuz otherwise they don't have the talent to do anything else, and I automatically have a lot less respect for those dramas cuz I know already that the writer is shit so why should I waste my time on that drama when there are tons of better stories from both korea and china.

Exactly, I don't get this obsession so many have with SMLs, I think in general they're an outdated trope and dramas that don't have a meddling SML usually have a much higher rating than the ones that do.
So many SMLs just can't get the hint to F*** off, they stick around and waste so much of the Drama's screen time, also a lot of them treat the FL as if she is their property, and they have a say over her life, when in truth they are in no position to make any decision in regards to FL's life.
