I don’t think Love Between Lines needed the VR theme, the architectural aspect alone is enough to make the drama…
100% this, I couldn't have said it any better. While I was watching it, it seriously felt like watching two separate dramas, just like you said. Unfortunately, I don't know about you, but I think this drama is a little overrated. I don't really see how it ever got a 8.8 score. I love the leads, and their chemistry is good, but I don't see it as almost 9-star material?? So ppl are rating it at the same level as Hidden Love, PoJ, and the First Frost?

Thank you SO much for this. I had actually abandoned Forbidden Flower when I heard it was a 'sad ending'. I will def be picking it back up now. And I had never considered The Double for the same reason 🫢🫢
You do know that on MDL there are two ratings. The one in the orange box is the rating of all accounts verified…
"Verified rating" is just the ppl who linked their phone no. to MDL, that doesn't tell you anything about reliability. I'd look at the "completed" rating for the most accurate score.

It's a little 🤏overrated imo, yes, but it's SO good that I honestly don't care. There's other dramas (many of them are k-dramas) that I think are more overrated than this. Lovely Runner, for example. DON'T COME FOR ME PEOPLE.
As you said, the cinematography is elite, the characters are dense and interesting, and the plot is really hooking. Personally, what made me absolutely fall in love with this drama was all the side characters and the insane script.
And if you're not digging the main couple, I recommend you just stay for the other characters. I've never seen a (historical) drama that gives the side characters so much screentime. (I'm thinking about Yu Qian Qian and Qi Min, but the others also)🤷♀️ Seriously, one of my favorites of all time.
Edit: Oh also, looking at the "verified star rating" or the "completed" rating also helps. So according to the former it stands at an 8.8
Don't base your opinion on rumours. Everyone with a keyboard and half a brain thinks they're a critic.
It's not just the rumors for me, and I'm not criticizing. I had started reading the manhwa a long time ago, but never finished it because it was so convoluted. It's an interesting production--I look forward to seeing what will come out of it.
