She appointed her own subordinates because no butcher gang there. She trained for a few days, sparred with others, He Jingyuan in the army, before the big battle against Changxin.

You can still enjoy the 2nd lead love story, just a heads-up it really gets toxic like really really toxic few episodes later. So enjoy it till the climax because silver hair guy is very important.

This! This is so true. I am appalled by people criticizing supporting actors. Who wouldn't take the chance if given? Why wouldn't they try to promote themselves? Why would they think of not achieving greater success?
If people have problems, take them to producers, editors, directors, writers. Other actors are doing their job.
Plus this is not just a romantic drama, never was. Political intrigue, war, secrets are a huge part of the drama, just like romance. So this cannot be done by 2 people alone.
