You did not misunderstand that scene, she did mention 3 sons, but they only mention Mingxuan, the other one is not mentioned at all. My friend who read the novel say, he wasn't mentioned at all there also. Seemingly he died very young or so due to illness, as it was hinted. ML also has another sister, who is not shown. YCX is called Wu Ge or fifth brother. He has 4 siblings ahead of him. One must be Mingxuan who died, another brother who died young, an elder sister who has a husband living with them, another sister (who as per novel studies abroad). So that makes him the fifth brother, and he has a younger sister as well who is shown.

Okay this one I am not sure. But if I have to guess maybe Pingjun and Ziyi are half-siblings, dramas often try to make such coincidences, so. Its possible her mother married someone whom she considered her dad, because she does go and tell him, she misses him as we saw in today's episodes. I don't if faking that is possible.

ML is not dating FL. FL and ML had a contract, where they would fake date to make SFL jealous. Because SFL as a woman is not someone who goes behind men, but ML will never get the land if he is the one doing the pursuing. If SFL becomes jealous, and wants ML, she will be willing to give up the land. That is why ML and FL have a contract. The contract is done deal now, considering ML has a deal with SFL's father.
As you see ML, he is a very manipulative cunning person, any time he feels he doesn't need SFL he will discard her off, or anytime he feels he has other motives (FL) he can break it off too.
FL herself has a fiancé who is abroad, who is about to come back. So both pretty much have relationships.

ML doesn't like SFL, but he is interested in the land owned by SFL's uncle. He wanted SFL to give him that land (for military purposes). When SFL finally relented after being jealous of him and Pingjun, she gave it to him. ML did a deal with her father, about him not joining the forces against Yu family, he can balance both sides, and both can profit from this deal. SFL's father just told him that in return he needs to be good to his daughter, kind of a silent marriage pact something.
So he treats her well, they are kind of public-dating, for sure he doesn't have feelings, but is using her to his advantage. Hence to impress her that necklace and flowers.
