Me too. The Reuter was better trust me, but Chinese censorship allowing this much, is satisfactory, at least we got it.

I loved this episode. Li Boren should mind his own business tbh. He is an idiot. Pingjun slapping the Commander in front of all, like girl seriously. No he deserves slaps, but you don't care for your life do you. Whatever, this was the first scene when I genuinely liked YCX, him caring for the kids, made me feel good about him.
But he has to be an arrogant ass to Pingjun, like man where will you go with that ego.
Also that elder military man getting beaten- BEST.
The theatre show was mindblowing. Them depicting how two children born in the same era grow up differently just because of financial issues. It was so heartbreaking, but them showing that conveyed such a beautiful message. It was the best scene in all episodes I have watched.
Also the way YCX smiled at her, but when she smiled back wholeheartedly, him suddenly realizing that she wouldn't smile towards him like that, and his happiness changing to suspicion then disappointment, in a split second, ohh Cheng Lei I will always be so impressed by your acting.
The fiancé is here guys, to make things more interesting. Yayy

Pingjun is 18, YCX is 22. Age of consent in China is 14.
Plus the sequence was a dream.
But yes scene was too hot, but Chinese censorship these days has been a little lenient.

I have a feeling they know this isn't easy and maybe 25 episodes later, lol, so they gave something to us for satisfaction.

Bath tub scenes pass, but this was wild. I did not know about this scene before. I am speaking about the imagination part, the kiss scene, the neck kiss. The Reuters were wild. So all of us who were following the drama when it was filming, were 70% sure it wouldn't make the cut. Because firstly Republican era drama, secondly it will air in satellite channel. But glad we got something.

I NEED something very cruel like extremely CRUEL for Tao Ziyi and her gang by the end of the drama.

The Reuters of that scene were better. But the fact that the scene made it through the censorship, and it did not get fully cut is enough for me. So many of us have prayed for that scene to make through, ahh.
I will go back to those Reuters again.

I have not read the novel, but everyone who has said it was trash. The couple got SE in the novel. But the drama is different, FL was a doormat in the novel, ML much more toxic than what he in the drama. They have changed character traits, and taken some plots. The drama has filmed many scenes which were not part of the novel. So drama and novel are not actually very comparable.

Yeah you are not wrong. But ep 7, that scene with the children, was the first time I felt some liking towards the character. So I feel there is some hope. Lets see.

He is everything you said, a scumbag. But that's some of his personal character traits. He has been effectively making plans to reform Yu military.
If you have watched ep 6 and 7, he is a lot successful in that. He has helped people, children, dismissed a lot of people from the army who were doing illegal businesses, were corrupt or ineffective. He even started a system to take exams in order to show that they are capable. He has made alliances, and even saved his father's life.
So till now, we are shown nothing of why he cannot be a good leader. Yes he has a lot of problems personally just as you said. But I am hoping we can have a character development in those areas later.
