Four episodes into this second arc, and I don't know what the main focus is. The first arc was quite clear: saving…
I'm fear for this part of the drama. The first one was a masterpiece, but the abrupt change of pace, focus and setting -although fitting and emotionally resembling the sad and cruel ending of that part of the story - make me unease. I want this drama to keep the mastery it had till end of the Mountain Patrol arc
Well these two episodes were more depressing than the last. Duo Jie was the heart of this show.
Yeah, I was fearing that might be happening, and still we have 14 eps to the end. The change of setting and vibe really impacted - not for the best imo - in what otherwise was till now a steady solid mastespiece. I hope we´ll get back in track and in the mountain setting assap.
I didn't expect the Mountain Patrol era to end so early. We still have 14 episodes left but without the og team…
Same. The charm of the drama lies in the landscape, and it feels a too abrupt change of pace and vibe that - in my experience - lower the quality a bit. I hope the former setting returns quickly.
There were a lot of text in ep 26 but subtitles didn't translate that for me. If someone who is fluent in chinese…
The members of patrol team were imprisoned for between 2 and three years, and Bai Ju received a warning from the Party. The years that appeared later refer to the ones where natural reserves were created in the area.
yes. it’s very good. deserve a much higher rating.
Yeah, one of those rare dramas that gets better with every episode and keeps that quality all the way to the end. I usually don’t rewatch dramas, but I’ll definitely be revisiting this one.
The uplifting and touching OST keeps repeating in my mind, especially the opening and ending credits, plus a special theme and a scene in the second half. 😊
It also has already started airing on CCTV-1, and will get a second run on its original channel, CCTV-8, in a few days.
Really well written review! Im Mahayana school, but the basics remains. Agree with the storytelling and pacing, and some directing/editing decisión cater to new douyin audiences that reduced the dramatic impact for some scenes, but the flaws were minor compared to meanings this drama brough. I found episodres 1-2, 31-32 and 39-40 the pillar points of the story: the beginning, the turning point, the realization and ending. For me he reached englightment, and as so, he isn´t attached to timelines, spaces or óther constrictions. He´s an awaken one, and that´s why he can still exits in this new world (but I like that the drama only implies it ; it gives room for viewers to reflect but also to choose their conclusion without estrictly corseted to Buddhism.
A detailed analysis! It's a shame the first review was accidentally deleted🥺, but this new review with a Buddhist…
Thank you for your words! I tried to write an extra review adding the erased one but the platform didn't allow me. So I decided to keep this one as it's the core of the story.
For western viewers with secular or Judeo-Christian mindset and without any phylosophy background or knowledge, the show is really difficult to grasp completely.
Add pay attention to everything, having to read translations that aren't always accurate and don't be able to understand the lyrics playing in the sequences that might have help as act as complementary information, all leave to only really on the surface level of things or a more intuitive and open disposition.
This is truly helpful! I'm still writing mine, which takes a more Buddhist perspective. It's challenging to interpret,…
Thank you!! I really have to sump up here, sacrificing a lot - even pictures. That's why I left the links as there the meanings are more better explained - I believe lol. I'm still working if the Buddhist part, so it would be great to share insights with yours about it!!
such an insightful and deep review! I love when dramas inspire reflections and this one shines in all the details…
Thank you! I also like this type of drama, and although I do have cons to point out for Whispers of Fate, the pros and the richness overly surpass them. But I understand it's difficult to comprehend from a total western and secular perspective, that's why I embarked in this trilogy project. It's a shame I had tu really sim up the meanings, and couldn't use pics but I hope those that want to read the full and more colorful analysis can go to the links. Still have to finish the last part about Buddhism lol
A very well written review. Educational and informative;). I learnt so much about the symbolic undertone, thanks…
Thank you! In fact, this is a summery of two posts I did with images, but I'm afraid I won't be able to add the Buddhism part because of words limits - when I finish it.
Liu Yan tried to k!ll him, put his body in a well. Tang Lici was found by minister’s daughter. Her father adopted…
They did tell this in the drama; during the second part, don´t remeber which ep but they did. I didn´t read the novel nor new the story, the drama was my only source. The problem is the drama has so many things happens in the surface and in the back, that it´s easy to loose track - plus subs
Gee... sounds complicated. I haven't finished. Thank you though for the summary.
As all the drama, the explanations were given by pieces, and we - at least international viewers - had to pay attention to many things PLUS reading subs. It´s easy to get lost. I remeber the scene where T1 and T2 were explained, but I should needed a replay as I was paying attention to many things and this just kept resonanting in the back - Thenm it totally escape to my that both YM and TLC can reversed time :) and that´s exactly what they both did :) - had to go back and rewatched it.
