I think people are way to wound up in sexuality being a concrete certainty. You want black and white but they…
I think this is a possibility most people don't think about a lot.

That is an interesting perspective. I will just say for the driving one, I lived in a suburban area all my life. We don't have public transportation. Some kids need money from a young age to support their families or themselves. If they don't have a car, how can they drive to work? I go to college away from home, my parents are too busy to drive me to and from college.. no public transportation around my college either. I have driven myself to doctors appointments, to school, to the gym, to work (the few times I had jobs), picked up my brother from school (when needed), and etc ever since I was 17. My parents don't have time for that stuff. I have also helped my parents drive places when two cars are needed for whatever reasons.

I mean I am an internet kid. I've been in comment sections from a very young age. I am only 19. My opinions and way of thinking is flawed and not perfect, but I don't think we're not able to come to rational decisions or not able to have valuable conversations. I would not be the same person I am today without those experiences. Of course I voted too.

I mean, if we are not able to play with gray areas in fictional spaces as you have said, then how am I able to understand accounting or calculus? What would the point be in me taking philosophy, sociology, or psychology classes? I just think your way of thinking is very interesting.

26 age restrictions is so crazy. Lololol. I could not watch it then. A lot of the actors could not watch their own shows (i am joking but is true). I definitely feel you with differentiating between the fact this is fantasy and not real life. I think Papa & Daddy first episode was really cute, but I feel like it's gonna have so many serious messages from now on. It will still be good.

Even I try to understand gay people, so many of them hate what I say on here anyways. Always gonna be conflict.

I think it's hard to compare science fiction and BL because scientists are not a marginalized group. I enjoy BL for what it is and enjoy many "problematic" storylines, but I begin to struggle more and more with the criticism thrown at BL. I feel like conversation is good.

With so many gay men and other queer people watching these shows now, I just think about it even more than I used to. I think it's important to think about.

I mean, have you seen Japanese pink films? I want to see what you think about Bad Buddy Butt and The Ultimate…
I read your whole post, and I definitely respect you as a person. I am not perfect and don't know everything. Never claimed to be.

I would like to first say that I will call myself a fujoshi till the day I die. It is what I am. I am a rotten girl. I don't think it is a negative phrase. I think maybe when the phrase was created, it was created with negative connotation, and some people will still think of it as negative, but it is literally the definition of what I am.. I am a girl who enjoys gay content. I watch all types of gay content. Most of it is BL and not stuff written, produced by actual gay men, but I do watch that stuff as well.

I think the word fujoshi, while cannot be compared to the word queer as it was a much more hurtful and insulting word -- sometimes paired with violence, bullying -- can be thought of the same way. Now the word queer is a very positive and inclusive word because it describes someone who is not cisgender or straight. It is a somewhat liberating word. I feel like fujoshi describes me perfectly, and I will not stop using the word just because some other people think it is negative. It's like how some women will not call themselves a feminist because some feminists are man-haters. Well, I am a feminist, but I am not a man-hater. Such an extreme mindset it just not logical, so I just don't even give it validation. Like how I do not agree with all other fujoshis, but I still think of fujoshis as my sisters and fudanshis as my brothers. (:

I will never pretend to be a gay man or know what any queer people go through because I do not. I never will, so I also do not claim anything I say is 100% right, and I do appreciate your time for giving me your criticism as a someone part of the LGBT community.

A quick note. I say I have watched 100+ gay films as an estimate. Lol. I watch them as a hobby because it's fun. It is sad that queer people are not more mainstream on TV and they are not more main characters. They should be more. I have a hard time finding new content as well. They have gay torrents for that btw. Maybe you already know about them. I tend to use other methods.

I just think though, that it is hard to expect there to be gay people everywhere on TV. People usually enjoy writing about people who are like themselves or people they have experience with, so if non-gay people write a bunch of gay stuff -- BL happens! Something that you don't like happens because that person does not have the real experiences and is writing everything based off of preconceived-notions and non-personal experience. I feel like, for that reason it is expected there is just less gay content than straight content simply because there's less gay people than straight people in the world. Even though it sounds backwards for me (cis-het woman to say), I am thankful for what is out there. I am thankful there is anything. Imagine if I just had to only watch bromance and pretend.. Crazy.

As for BL in general, I think I am very in-the-know of what happens in the BL industry. I just do not think of it the same way as you. I have come to accept some of the atrocities. In this world, nothing is perfect, and there are so many bad things. I cannot get upset with every bad thing or every person who doesn't like me or with people who are different than me. I have to just focus on myself, be positive, and move on. I think of the BL industry that way. Maybe there are parts that are not good, but I still like it. I will continue to enjoy this series.

One thing that I will try to "invalidate" you on... Really it's just a question. If you hate the BL industry so much, how do you watch any BL and enjoy it at all? Of course I am going to like BL. Like you said, it is mostly created for women, and I am a woman. I enjoy the catered content. It's just, all the things you do not like about this show, so many other shows have tropes and follow the BL formula. Can you watch any of them and enjoy it? I think if you think everything you wrote seriously, you cannot actually enjoy 95% of BL. Do you actually dislike 95% or do you make exceptions?
On HIStory4: Close to You Apr 25, 2021
HIStory does use the, "I don't like men, just you" trope, but it also has gay characters as well, so I think it doesn't bother me too much.

I think this episode was better than last episode. Not sure where the plot is going, but I think the show has proved solid in progression at least.

James liked Ait before he even met him. Marco said, "Woah he's just your type" in the first episode when they saw him on TV, and then they play that "time stopped" music and camera angles whenever James met Ait and when Ait picked him up at the coffee shop in ep 3 as well.

Is it just me that doesn’t like the main relationship. I feel its unethical for a director to date their actor.…
I think Ait's character is supposed to be immature and naïve. He does not realize the weight of the situation, and he is willing to do stupid things all for a temporary feeling. Probably some actors are like this irl, and perhaps one of the actors in 2moons2 was like this?

I knew from the beginning of the show that there would lots of focus on this actor, director love story. It is supposed to be the main plot, and I think it is what the show is named after: "Call It What You Want." It means that, yeah, it is probably unethical for a director and actor to date. Yeah, the industry is against it, fans are against, their own friends and families may be against it, but that will not stop love.. Love is love, so "Call It What You Want."

I think it is a quick and shallow rationalization, but it goes perfectly with all the "love at first sight" talk in episode 4. It's as if the show is trying to justify the legitimacy of their relationship. Call it what you want... hahahahah,

Agree. Conversation is important, but it makes many of us feel defensive and mad. That is why so many people cannot bring themselves to watch this.

It's just, like you said, without fantasy, how would the BL industry make money and how would we have BL? It is a legitimate question. All stories are technically a fantasy, so maybe there needs to be a certain level of toxicity for things to blow up and get popular. It will take a long time for things to change.

I agree with you a lot. Some people act like the main problem is that queer people are being taken advantage of, but these type of fan mindsets have existed with straight couples and all different types of industries outside BL. It is not a sexuality thing. It is just a toxicity thing.

I think the idea that BL is only straight guys falling in love with each other is ridiculous, especially when people say that the fangirls only want to see straight guys. Like, then why are the fans so crazy about the actors having girlfriends, and why do girls hate the girl characters the most in BL? Lol. It is just so, so laughable to me.

Fans are toxic and crazy.

Title Call It What You Want Spoiler
This is written so well for a fangirl like me. Hahahahahahah. This is like a crackhead story. I feel bad for everyone who was involved in these real events since it's based on a true story. P'Tee is a fake monster person, and I refuse to believe anyone like him exists. Who in their right mind would refer to people as products that you can buy?

Anyways, is this supposed to be funny? Because I laughed way too much throughout episode 3 and 4. The show is about serious subject, but it has a super cliche love story in the smack middle of it. Where is my Ait? He is such a flirt, and he is almost causing so many problems in the show. He is breaking every rule, and he doesn't care! I don't know if it's brave or stupid.
On Call It What You Want Apr 24, 2021
At this point, Ait just reminds me of the actor Saint in general. Both of them play more cute, feminine characters (and are cute people themselves) but are really tall. Also Ait's character has the same aggressive style as Tutor from Why R U. In my eyes, Ait is Tutor. I am waiting for him to corner James, look at him in the eyes and say, "You like men." Hahahah.
