That's a very interesting theory. I am watching Dive because I am desperate and the sports/friendship stuff reminds me of Crossing The Line and Water Boyy, but it is not written as a BL, so. I think at least those shows support the authors of the books and more people will read them. It gives recognition to BL in that way. I look at it as right now they are being censored, but maybe over time if we try to push boundaries, these shows can become less and less bromance. I think the shows on the contrary keep BL alive in some form.

Right. I just started watching Dive and it is lovely, but it seems Taiwan will make more and more BL series soon. If China takes that away, it will be so sad. The fact that Taiwan gets taken over would be more sad, but the BL is an effect of that as well.
I hope BL get so popular that it makes one billion dollars a year in revenue, so then China will be persuaded to allow BL to increase their GDP.. hahahah.

I don't think many people believe that what Yong Jie did is not at least sexual assault. Many of the people who say it's not rape still believe Yong Jie is in the wrong. I mean, he did take advantage of Li Cheng.
I do believe HIStory 1 is great, so if you think the first HIStory is better, I do not blame you. HIStory 4 does seem to have a lower budget as well. With everything else you said, I think this show is not bad. It is just very controversial and is not what most people are used to seeing in other HIStory series or even BL as a whole. Really every HIStory show put out has been different from the last, so this one is not surprising for me. I think if you have not liked the show so far, the rest of it you will also not like. Lol. I cannot see this show changing at all! I love Mu Ren as well. Hopefully you do not come to hate him too. Lol.

Kind of glad he didn't stand out to me in WHY R U because he was underage then. He seems to have always been pretty, but I think he had an extra glow-up recently. I'm gonna contribute it to the fact he's 18 now. He is so covetable in Y-Destiny. I like how in the first episode of Y-Destiny they have him wearing the trendiest fashions. Reminds me of Mu Ren in HIStory 4.

I decided to skim/read it and lol. I have the same perspective on rape. This director also directed 2moons which I am not a big fan of either. I don't like his directing, but I usually don't say it. Right now his most recent show is Call It What You Want (CIWYW), and the first episode seems good. I haven't watched the rest. We'll see if I dislike it like all his other stuff. If I do not like it, I may just never watch anything he puts out ever again. Lol. Because I find his perspectives and direction annoying.
I can't comment on the portrayal of gay relationships, but in CIWYW, he wrote in a line talking about the definition of BL is "two straight guys falling in love with each other," and some comment about how that's all it is/all BL cares about. They said that like BL can't be and hasn't been anything else. I feel he likes to push unbased ideas onto others and pretend they're real just because he has something against BL.
I didn't read your whole review. It's been way too long since I've seen this movie anyways, but I didn't particularly like Present Perfect either at the time. Half the hype some movies get is beyond me. The only country's gay movies I enjoy more than half the time are Japan's.
