I felt no suspense, no emotional-attachment to the characters, and the ending isn't even well explained. I feel like this movie focused on the parts I didn't care about and left out all the parts I wanted to see.
I don't care about the romance, but I do wanna know about the legality of the case. They showed so little even though that's what the story revolves around.
The 2nd story's ending is weird. I had to go to the comments to understand. I do like that these stories are short and sweet. They also are more interesting than I initially thought although the stories are still quite shallow as the BL element can't be delve into.
Can i watch this on TV ? No obvious BL stuff ? ( Being cautious from parents)
Mmm.. There is no kisses or I love yous. For me it is easily passed off as bromance, but if your parents look too closely they might ask why do the two characters look at each other like that. Lol. There are hugs and them taking care of each other, but nothing obvious..
And as of now I have finished the first two stories. The 3rd will probably follow suit.
I am not even mad at that spoiler. Ommm. At the very beginning of the show, it seemed like Aey had a little crush on him.. but it disappeared quick. Now I am so curious. The twist in the show will still be surprising even though I just read your spoiler. Hah.
I love Gene. I find everything about him relatable. He's a layered character. I feel he was written excellently and the actor, Up, executes him wonderfully! I love.
This couple, I genuinely find their personalities interesting, and that is my favorite thing about this show.
Imma write points as I watch the movie because I can't do this. Lol.
1) I do not like how Papi and Daddy seemed to shame the woman who gave up Butr for adoption. Never shame women for giving up their children. Never shame women for abortions. We don't know anything about her or what she has been through! I do wanna know though, why did she have to drop out of college when she was pregnant? My mom finished high-school and got a Masters degree even though she was pregnant at 17. Is there something I'm not getting? The mother gave the baby up, so why drop out?! It's not like she had to raise it. Did society shame her that much?! If so, suck my a** Thailand.
2) I find the conversations with the child somewhat aggressive at times. Yuke is like, "Do you not want to be with Papi and Daddy?" And Phoon is like, "You want a mom and then you want to stay with us. You're confusing." Like. GOD. This child is like 5, and on top of that, isn't it possible for him to want to know his mom and still want to be with Papi and Daddy? This movie acts like it has to be one or the other at some points, and I don't get it.
3) Another thing I don't get is why does Phoon feel like he needs to give up his son? And why does he think his son will turn gay if he sees his fathers being gay? We don't know all the way how sexuality is determined yet, but we do know that it is not transferred like a disease. If your son's gonna be gay, he's gonna be gay. And if not, then he won't be. And that's all. Your son won't magically turn gay just because you are Phoon. But since your biological father is gay as well, Phoon, that one could be genetic.. Don't know what to tell you there.
4) That social worker lady.. Who?! Seriously, Who gave her the right to track down the mother and then inform her about who adopted her baby.. The mother gave up the rights to the baby when she sent it to the orphanage. The social worker did not get Phoon's permission to do any of that.. Phoon just accepted it once it came to him.. Oh, Phoon. What are we going to do with you?!
5) I WANT YUKE TO SLAP PHOON. I WILL PAY FOR IT. Like.. Throwing the invitation for Father's Day in the trash? I really think that Phoon did not think well enough before adopting a child as a gay man. A lot of these internal issues he's having could have been worked out before he adopted. Like, the boy should have a chance to meet his mother, sure.. Sure. But not give the child to her (permanently, which he is obviously considering). The child feels like he's been abandoned! He's YOUR SON. What a wishy-washy father. I feel like this movie is about the struggles of raising a child as a gay couple, but it's also about the terrible father Phoon irrespective of the fact he's gay. Maybe he hates himself. I really think he hates himself or else he would not believe that his own son that he raised would be better off without him.
6) Thank The Lord Jesus! Phoon hit himself! That may be better than Yuke hitting him. SMACK SOME SENSE INTO YOURSELF MANN. Now I forgive him now. Okay, I don't take back what I said, but I do take (but I don't) take back what I said about Phoon. "Everybody makes mistakes. Everybody has those days. Everybody knows what, what I'm talkin' bout. Everybody gets that way."
It's easy for me to judge as an outsider and non-parent. Hahahah.
I think the movie is great, it is just very frustrating as well. Don't be a coward. (:
How come Yuke literally is the only one who had the right perspective the whole time. My feelings on this character Nat (actor of Yuke) plays is so different than my feelings of his character Sam in Friend Zone. Hahahah. I had to go through all the struggling just to hear Yuke repeat my exact words to me.. Yeah. Sounds about right.
7) Meddling Lady: "There's no love that can replace another." WOW. She actually knew what she was doing this whole time. Still don't approve of her methods although. I think the writer of this movie, wrote the movie like this on purpose so all the issues brought up can be shut down. The writer effectively shut down arguments such as, "Every child needs a mother and a father," "Gay parents make gay children," and "Kids with gay parents are unhappy."
Also, I feel bad for the social worker when her pug dies because then she ain't got no one. Also, I like they didn't give her a lover or something, just a dog. It shows diversity for me. Tbh I was thinking they were gonna make her a lesbian, but a loner dog-lover works for me as well.
Wasn't that a struggle bus?! Wheewww. They should change the title from "Fathers" to "Phoon's Journey" or "Phoon's Truth" or "Phoon: Cowardice" because none of this story would be possible without his self-doubt. Lmao.
I get it's supposed to be realistic. But two men in a relationship raising a son together pretending like they are brothers or friends.. OH MY GOD. AHHHHH!!! I just wanna scream at the top of my lungs. This is tearing me apart.
The last time I felt like this was when I watched Mood Indigo.. but I won't go into detail. I'll just shut up till I finish watching..
I'm only half way through this movie. Maybe I should wait until I finish it, but quotes like, "There's nothing wrong with being homosexual, but if there were choices, no one would want their son to be gay" really irk me.
I get it, being gay is hard, and it becomes more difficult in certain societies vs. others. But I do not understand Thailand's ideas. The idea that homosexuality is something undesirable and that it can be transferred like some disease seems to be shared among those both queer and not queer. This bothers me a great deal.
I like this movie. It's good. It's not really gay because they don't say I love you or anything, much less kiss unless you count a CPR scene. It's supposed to be gay I guess. Lol.
I like the story. It's sweet. I think the girl, Nam, that Tum is with is cute as well. They don't really explain his sister's story. I am sorry her boyfriend died. The movie is not a super strong story, but it's a nice watch, and I enjoyed it. It changed my mind on Thai films a little bit. I have only watched so many. I normally prefer Japanese films, but this one was pretty good, so I will watch more.
Kao is in this y'all. From Lovely Writer and UWMA. An actor from Friendzone is in it as well. I love seeing now popular actors in older stuff when they weren't known. Hah. I'll add them here to the cast list.
Yeah. I was thinking that as well, wondering if they had something more specific in mind but that's probably right.
Honestly, I find half the time trailers are accurate and half the time they're not, so we'll see. I am betting that it won't be that dramatic. OR Gene will yell at Nubsib and tell him something horrible, and then they'll wake up the next day and everything will be okay. Hahah.
Maybe I am too harsh on these. I have only watched the first four episodes of the cat one, and I have finished Precise Shot although not a part of this series. I just feel like there really is not much of a plot. It's cute that these are little "fantasy" BLs, but I just find myself trying to grab onto some deeper plotline, but I am having no luck. I will watch more and see. Overall, I have a very empty feeling after watching these like, "What was it for?"
Hmm.. You're right. I don't want to call what LC did wrong because I like the couple so much, and if I see it…
For sure. I am not perfect either po. Nothing wrong with liking messed up stuff. I like MR and LC.
Funny hearing someone say that about YJ. I liked the idea of having XS's ex-boyfriend come back and see what he'd do. That would be so entertaining. Would YJ kill his own father? That is unrelated, but if YJ and XS's father don't accept them, what will he do?! Excommunicated!!! Hahahahh. Get him fired from his job.

Sometimes I am so glad that I am American.

And I have felt sick as well with the BL community. Like I said, it will make you stronger.
