I don’t really watch Korean dramas. I am more into Chinese fantasy and historical. But every once in a while I come across a really good one. This is one of them. I guess there is no way of watching it ahead.

I feel for LBY! But based on the trailers it seems Niaoniao’s Hitler mom prefers LBY. What exactly was the emperor thinking when he wanted to know how many daughters Cheng Shi has? Marry LBY to another Cheng girl or marry her to LY? There are too many matchmakers in this drama lol

It’s normal and a very natural thing to say however illogical it may sound. It’s called being human.

The shock expressions on Qiu Qi and Qiu Fei’s faces are so funny whenever Niaoniao does something unexpected.

Love this drama. Glad the humor is not silly and the timing perfect.

Very nice drama. Got Autumn Ballad vibes too. The ML is hot and he has good chemistry with FL. But what happened between him and his dad? Did the Dad turn his back on him because he married another woman? Why did he not wear a disguise like a moustache or change his hair if he is trying to hide? How someone like him turn into a criminal is just beyond me. I saw what happened but the logic I am not buying.

I did not know she has another identity. And I thought he knew her lol silly me

I hope so. It looks promising though. I just finished ep13.

Thanks, It is a little confusing, not knowing Chinese at all. If they are governing a fiefdom, in the west they could be a duke or a king or a feudal lord, depending on the system. Basically they are similar in nature in that they pay tax or tribute to a king or an emperor. I remember SSS.

Thanks! The thought crossed my mind. When the emperor talked about retrieving the missing object, I remember now they mentioned the other states . It makes sense. The other states are kingdoms ruled by a king.

Probably the best costume drama this year so far imo. there is just one thing I don’t understand which is the ML’s dad title. He is referred to as His Lordship not as an emperor (in the subs) but his sons are addressed as princes. Apparently his title on MDL is that of a prince. I am guessing it is like a duke/ brother of an emperor?

I agree. But I wasn’t referring to that although it would be nice if they spent more money on CGI and the like. I was expecting to be blown away but so far it hasn’t. I am a fan of both the leads and the story seems good which is why I am here. It is just that every drama involving mermen/mermaids I have tried recently is about their subjugation, their torture, etc. Tbh it is a little tiring and overused. This one seems to offer more though and I hope it will be a breath of fresh air. I am enjoying it so far and will probably stick with it till the end provided fans continue to sub it.

So between last year and this year many mermaid/man drama came out. I did not like any of them but this one is the best. I guess I am not a huge fan of merman stories lol.

As someone who enjoys cooking I was hoping to learn some recipes here but I guess it is not happening LOL
But I love the costumes esp in episode 6 I think. I love the color pallette and patterns not OTT or gaudy but very classy, haute couture-ish.
I like that the FL is bold and not the boring submissive type.
Why is the ML’s concubine so dark? The subs were very bad so I am guessing it is partly because of a past accident and also hates being used as a puppet by her dad and the family? Did she want to become a doctor not a royal concubine before because she was shown practising medicine before? I had to watch the drama on kissasian as the dram is blocked in Japan. The subs for ep 1 &2 are fine but they rest were all over the place and I had to put two and two together and come to my own conclusions. I didn’t quite get the fight between the concubines in ep 6 either. Sigh!

I was so looking forward to this drama that I subscribed to Croton on YT because the drama is not available on my WeTv Japan region. I wanted to watch the drama because the story piqued my interest and also because of the two lead couples (having seen their works in other ancient dramas before). Sadly I dropped it at episode 9 and have not watched it for around a month now. I found the story so so and the FL’s character too boring. The chemistry between the two main leads are off somehow. I don’t exactly know what it is but something is just not right about this drama. I am unable to feel it and I am very disappointed as I had such high expectations. I have since moved on to other dramas like City of Streamers and Autumn Ballad both of which I am enjoying thoroughly. They will end soon so I am thinking of picking this up again. But my question is: is it worth it??

Well ep 1 and 2 were interesting but after that not so good for me. The FL character is annoying. She is so childish at home unlike the professional doctor at work. I don't expect her to be professional at home or with her friends but she is a grown woman and needs to act like a respectful carreer woman instead of acting childish.
Then the ML. He looked hot and his character intriqued me at first. But he seems boring type. Also lack of emotion on his face. His facial expression does not change at all. I understand his loss and the nature of his work but at the end of the day he is still a man a human being. He needs to show his other sides of his character. I see zero chemistry between the main leads too.

Saw first three episodes. The plot makes no sense to me. If the FL was with MQ he must have known her name if she had accompanied him all those years even if he couldn’t see. It seems her evil sister and QM spent some time together after he got his eye sight back to a point that he proposed to her. Couldn’t he sense something is different or off with the other sister then? Also, there is little logic as to why the ML is interested in the FL’s relationship with the second ML. His opinion of her as a gold digger is not strong evidence to prove she is involved in his brother’s death. Since he is rich he could have hired a PI instead of stalking her himself. Even after not being able to prove her involvement he has no reason to keep suspecting her. Is he dumb? Just because he thinks she is not a simple person is not enough reason. And how come he is eating dinner at her place already? Cmon give me a break! No girl in her right mind would have a complete stranger in her home and even if he forced himself, cook and serve him food. Any sensible girl would call the cops on him lol

The two lead couples are just awesome. It makes waiting harder and harder each passing day. Lots of character development in the last two episodes 17-18. Waiting for QM to get a backbone.
I hope the mistake the FL made in episode 18 when saving miss shi will open her eyes and make her tread more carefully in the future. I understand she is loyal and will help those who treat her well. But she needs to learn when to hold back, plan her steps and not rush headlong into trouble. I hope to see her gain some wisdom as her character continues to develop. The ML has transformed almost completely when it comes to the prejudice he had about the FL. so happy yay! It seems like he is falling for her before she does for him. What do y’all think? I wonder who will be the first to become aware of their feelings for the other person.
