I am watching the c-drama, Against the Current. It's still airing and it's insanely good so far. Made me forget all my kdramas😂.

I hope Eun Seol won't be dumb enough to confirm to Mi Ran that she likes Seok Jin. Mi Ran might be her Mom's high school friend, but she knows that Mi Ran is loyal to Hae Ra and her family, so she would not tolerate Eun Seol ruining Hae Ra's relationship. But Eun Seol is naive when it comes to all things Seok Jin. The naivety of first love, I suppose.

Yeong Hun cannot tell that the real danger is Mi Ran and not Eun Seol- he will get a shock when he learns all that Mi Ran has done and that his wife was an orphan. He is plotting to go behind Jeong Seon's back to get the board members to oppose the prison scholarship program. But I think the program will be successful, against all odds- it is something that will allow Eun Seol and Jeong Seon to spend more time together. I hope Hyeon Jae gets roped into the program plans too, so he has something to do besides taking Eun Seol out for lunch and hoping she falls for him. They are doing a great disservice to his character. He needs more to do. It's nice to see Eun Seol doing her own thing separate from Seok Jin.

Seok Jin is in his corner trying desperately to marry Hae Ra, even after her Dad told Hae Ra, in front of him, to find someone else to marry. Yeong Hun even said he wants to get back 3 or 4 times his investment in Seok Jin, through his work in the company. Marriage is completely off the table. But Seok Jin is pushing head. Hyeon Jae pointed out how ambitious Seok Jin is and I believe this ambition will make Seok Jin continue on the path he is on. He wants power- he wants to be the head and not just a lapdog. So he is using Hae Ra to climb the corporate ladder. Is this wrong? Yes, but we can argue that Hae Ra is a willing participant and Seok Jin has been honest that he does not love her so maybe it's not so bad??? And since he and Eun Seol were never together, he would only be betraying their feelings. Given how smitten Eun Seol is with him, if she were to find out now that she is the real heiress, she would be thrilled and tell him to dump Hae Ra and use her instead 🤦🏾‍♀️😂😂.

In any case, I don't see Seok Jin giving up his dream to become the future CEO, anytime soon. A sacrifice will have to be made and that will be his feelings for Eun Seol. Will he regret it in the end? It remains to be seen.

Grandma will not get the response she is expecting from Mi Ran/Ae Sook. Looks like Mi Ran will deny being Eun Seol's biological mother but Grandma won't believe it. Mi Ran should just give her a hair sample to compare DNA.

She wants that romance like yesterday. She has been openly pursuing him for over a week now. Even though she told Seok Jin that she thought someone else was behind Manager Na, she has not tried to investigate further nor has she told Hyeon Jae about her suspicions. So she is focusing on work and making up for those 10 years that she lost, and Seok Jin is a big part of that. So her revenge has kinda stopped for now, only because she does not know about Mi Ran. When she finds out that Mi Ran might be her birth mother, her focus will shift and eventually, she will be back on her revenge path.
This is why the writers are having other people cause trouble for Mi Ran- because those who are supposed to get their revenge on her are hibernating- and Jeong Seon is one of those people. Both mother and daughter are making nice with their enemy.

He wants to be the CEO. He probably thinks he will be respected when he is at the top.

Maybe he is also in a Trap of Desire. I would get it if he was shown to be an ambitious character, willing to do anything to get to the top. But he isn't- he is a soft-hearted and kind character. But not everyone wakes up ruthless and ambitious- they have to start from somewhere. Maybe this is how it starts. Yeong Hun might have started out like this.

I thought it was just a victory smile- she is trying to get him to leave Hae Ra for her and maybe she feels she is succeeding.

Knowing that, he should just quit, dump Hae Ra, find a job at another company- he is skilled enough, and be with Eun Seol. He is no longer that teenage kid without resources.

True. He is so focused on his goals that he is failing to notice other things. I don't even think Hae Ra's parents would accept him if he wanted to marry Eun Seol. What would he say- "oh, I really love your real daughter but I didn't really like your other daughter"? That would be an incredibly hard sell. Jeong Seon and Yeong Hun would never approve. And trying to marry two girls from the same family is incredibly suspicious.

I think, for Eun Seol, time stood still while she was in jail. This first romance is something she would have experienced and maybe got over if she was not stuck in jail for 10 years. So when it comes to Seok Jin, she is still that 17-year old girl and she believes that she and Seok Jin can simply pick up from where they left off 10 years ago. It's why she is relentlessly pursuing him, despite knowing that he is in a relationship. She believes that her and Seok Jin's feelings for each other are much stronger. She has not yet asked herself why Seok Jin started dating Hae Ra in the first place or why he would ever want to marry her when he clearly likes someone else. I think Seok Jin will disappoint her and she needs to experience that so she can finally move on.

And they know that no one else would be willing to handle Hae Ra's tantrums 😂. They don't want her to be a spinster😂.

From today's episode, it seems like one of the reasons he wants to marry Hae Ra is to show gratitude to her parents, and to Hae Ra, I guess, because she is the reason he got to study abroad. But the parents don't even want him to pay them back- even through marriage. He can just reimburse them for what they spent on him. He is already loyal to Cheongma.

He was looking at his ring today- maybe he is considering taking it off and ending things with Hae Ra. Eun Seol is still trying to win him over😑.

Hae Ra got her nail-biting habit from Mi Ran.
Hae Ra will need to be institutionalized when this is done. The truth will be too much for her to handle. How can she basically cause an accident and then not know why she did it? She has serious issues.

Jeong Ran did not care that Hae Ra called Mi Ran and not her- no jealousy at all. Mi Ran even tried to hide the identity of the caller. I am sure Jeong Seon is taking note of these things- she is far more intelligent than she lets on. I also like the way she is cheeky with her husband lately😊.
Interesting that Seok Jin is similar to a young Yeong Hun.

At this rate, Gi Chan should be tasked with babysitting Seok Jin's Mom. He does not have anything better to do.

Since when has Cheongma been in dire straits? Such that the shoe line can save it.

I don't think Seok Jin spends as much time thinking about Eun Seol as she does thinking about him. This is where I take issue with Seok Jin:
1) He is giving Eun Seol mixed signals. He knows that Eun Seol likes him and when he opted not to go to Hae Ra and went back to Eun Seol at the restaurant, he knew what it would mean to Eun Seol. He even took her home. He also almost kissed her in the storage room. He has left her in an in between place. He has not explained that he plans to marry Hae Ra. So she is stuck.
2) The couple rings- He and Hae Ra are now wearing these and Eun Seol has been blindsided. She even visited his mother in hospital- mostly because she like his Mom
but also partly for him.
3) He has decided that if he cannot have Eun Seol, no one else can have her. He practically told Hyeon Jae not to pursue her.

It is hard to root for a ML who does these things. He was worthy of Eun Seol 10 years ago. But now, not so much. I do love how devoted he is to his mother, though.

Is today our last episode until 5 October? That sucks but they gave us a long preview for the next episode, at least. We will get some insight into Seok Jin's motives for marrying into the Kang family. One of them has to do with his Mom, it seems- I could be mistaken. Maybe those guys who meet him and Hae Ra at the bar are the ones who bullied his Mom when he was in high school. Will know more after watching with subs.

Grandma found Mi Ran rather quicky- just by watching TV at a restaurant😂. And she will find Hee Jung's yearbook to confirm it's her. Mi Ran is already super stressed. Things are about to get worse for her- I love it😊.

Eun Seol's story has slowed down considerably, though. Pining after a taken man is just not it.

Right now, she is doing whatever she wants and is not facing any real obstacles because Eun Seol does not know that she is the enemy. So Eun Seol's revenge plot has stalled for now. Until Eun Seol figures out the truth, other people need to come in to create problems for Mi Ran.
Eun Seol's revenge will be further delayed if Mi Ran pretends to be her bio-Mom. Mi Ran might choose this route if her husband is difficult to deal with and demands to see his child, if he is Hae Ra's Dad. To prevent him from finding Hae Ra and blowing everything up, she might say that Eun Seol is their child. Mi Ran could get this bright idea after Grandma confronts her about being Eun Seol's bio-Mom.

Mi Ran is delulu. The way she described Jeong Seon- she was clearly describing herself. She has a deep-seated jealousy of Jeong Seon.

She faces one major problem with trying to destroy Jeong Seon, though: Hae Ra. Hae Ra is so emotionally unstable that if something were to happen to her Mom, she will not take it well. And if Mi Ran has an affair with Yeong Hun, Hae Ra will hate her for ruining her parents' marriage. And Mi Ran can't tell her that she is her bio-Mom, either, because that will tip Hae Ra over the edge. I don't think Mi Ran has a lot of options.

I hope Jeong Seon's scholarship for inmates works out. At least Eun Seol is on her team to support her.

The strange thing about all this is that no one is forcing him to marry Hae Ra. He is imposing himself on the family. Even Mi Ran knows he can choose to dump Hae Ra at any time.

His feelings for Eun Seol are not yet strong enough to get him to leave Hae Ra just yet, I suppose.

I hope he is using her.

Very nice to see Mi Ran's husband appear. I wonder if he is Hae Ra's bio-dad.
