When you know someone’s weakness, short comings, flaws and all and still accept them for all that, that was Kim Mi So towards Lee Young Joon aka Vice President in this drama. He was a narcissistic character but he wasn’t a bad person. He was adverse to being touched and while we got to know the reason for it, it didn’t excuse some of his narcissism. Mr Aura-ous Vice President. The way he says that aura was always so cringe on so many levels but it was also funny and adorable at the same time. I loved their relationship so much and boy did they have steaming chemistry. Kim Mi So: I am not going home tonight, I’m not going to go home, I’m going to stay by your side thought out the whole night Vice President: If you come into my house like this, I wont be able to control my pace tonight, tonight I don’t plan on stopping. I am completely and irrevocably in love and obsessed with this series. I have watched it so many times, I have lost count and I’m still going to keep rewatching it over and over again. I cannot even put into words how much I love this series. Lu Si Cheng aka Chessman and Tong Yao aka Smiling will always have my heart. God Ming also stole my heart. My one complain and honestly I was super infuriated with that scene is how Lu Si Cheng treated Tong Yao when the got back to their base after her scuffle with an opposing team member, he “punished” her to stand outside until she acknowledges her mistake, that was wrong on all levels and honestly left a very bad and sour taste in my mouth. It’s very prevalent in CDramas to make the ML treat the FL as if he is her lord and master and they even go as far as making the ML punish the FLs like a child or threaten the FL with punishment if he feels she has erred, this trope is absolutely ridiculous and infuriates me so badly as the FLs are grown ass women and are not the properties of these MLs, they thereby don’t need any lessons taught via punishment to them. CDrama Writers and directors need to do better on the portrayals and treatment of not just their FLs but also their female characters. Let me tell you I have watched a whole lot of shows over the last 3years I started watching Asian shows and my top4 is still in no particular order, Falling into your smile, Word of honor, Vincenzo and Who Rules The World. I don’t know if the feeling I was trying to portray came through enough with the above write up but I will reemphasis, I am absolutely crazy about this show with the exception of that scene stated above. Wish I could give it more than 10 stars. Bravo cast and crew. Bravo indeed Rewatch value is obviously 10/10 (I have rewatched so many times and will keep rewatching) Overall 10/10
I just read a review where the reviewer was complaining bitterly about the amount of product placement. I totally get it and while I wasn’t as pissed off about the product placement issue like said reviewer was I do understand their frustration. My frustration was with the second couple. I actually liked Zuo Yulin aka FiveThree and Qin Qing as a stand alone character without their romance. FiveThree was smart, nice and loyal. While Qin Qing was annoying most of the time and took her bestie role way too far sometimes but she was supremely loyal to Zhou Fang and I can appreciate that. But they spent so much time on the second leads relationship and drama, sometimes it felt like they were the lead couple, if they had significantly reduced their screen time I believe this would have had better reviews. Then why the 10/10 everything, the love I have for Zhou Fang and Song Lin runs very deep. They are my favorite CDrama couple of all time. That accident rain scene, OMG, it gave me chills and goosebumps. I have watched a lot of CDramas that have good chemistry and whatnot but most of them felt like acting which wasn’t a bad thing because they are indeed acting and most of them acted super well but here it didn’t feel like acting at all between Zhou Fang and Song Lin, it felt so real, the way it felt so real and not acting made me believe that the rumors of Johnny and Dilraba dating might just be true. Song Lin’s sister Song Luo was my favorite character after my couple. They started her off with the typical annoying teenager troupe (but it was a bit understandable because of what she has gone through) but boy did she become so adorable. I absolutely loved her. Rewatch value is 10/10 (I have rewatched so many times and will keep rewatching) but every time I rewatch I skip all the parts of Qin Qing and FiveThrees relationship/story The second lead couple dragged down this series so badly but i will still rate it the highest because it’s my go to romance series. Overall 10/10
The level of matured-ness that was this series is unbelievable. The chemistry between our leads was off the charts. I must give big credit and kudos to Wang An Yu because his ability to portray Duan Yu Cheng as a young guy who is also matured in so many ways was incredible and very believable. He is such a good actor, I was convinced that although he is young he was matured enough to pursue a relationship with Luo Na. The plot was ok, I enjoyed the fact that we got to see the work and dedication that was put in. My first love is sports and I have the biggest respect for athletes because I know how much effort most of them put into their craft. The kiss scenes in this drama is hands down the best in any CDrama that I have watched and I have watched quite a few. 2nd place in my opinion is Lighter and Princess between Li Xun and Zhu Yun. They were so fire 🔥 too. 3rd place is Love Designer between Zhou Fang and Song Lin (they are actually my favorite CDrama couple of all time followed closely by Chessman aka Lu Si Cheng and Smiling aka Tong Yao in Falling into your smile). Rewatch value 7.5/10 Overall 8.5/10
#TeamYoHan Kim GaOn is the most useless, weak, self righteous goody2shoes masquerading as a good person character. His character as a judge lacks believability, there is no way such person can ever be a successful lawyer much less a judge. Someone that can be easily manipulated, doesn’t have any self convictions and goes wherever the wind blows and always looks like he wants to cry, could never have made it to any judicial bench in any country in the world even in Korea I believe. I swear to God I would have dropped this drama with how many times the rage and anger in my heart was boiling to the extent I felt like I could literally explode with how completely useless the character GaOn was. Don’t even get me started with his cop girlfriend, she was basically of no use in the series and someone said Elijah’s wheelchair was more useful than GaOn and I think that statement applied to his cop girlfriend. She points her gun at people like it’s a toy, she goes to into dangerous situations without calling for backup and conducts vindictive/personal unauthorized investigations. You are a cop that claim you seek justice but knew of the corruptions going on and she never went after any of the corrupt officials but she was hell bent on going after YoHan and bringing him down because she was jealous of his budding relationship/friendship with GaOn, her character did not make any sense and I feel the writers just threw her in there in other the combat the BL tone the series was giving with the intense chemistry of YoHan aka Ji Sung & Park Jin Young aka GaOn. I solely blame the writers and directors for giving us such a useless character, that was basically a waste of space. The chairwoman was such a badass character. She was evil and knew why she was evil and made no apologies for it. She was super smart and the actress who played her portrayed the sultry creepy evil mastermind to perfection. The President was such a weird character because he was more like a comedic relief that no one asked for. Why then did I not drop the drama and rate it so high if I had all this complain and fury, ladies and gentlemen it’s because of the enigmatic character called YoHan played by the ultra super talented Ji Sung. OMG he was everything and so much more. He’s charisma and presence as the chief judge was captivating, enthralling and like I said literally everything. His little smiles and smirks like he knows your deepest darkest secrets and he’s going to use them against you and there is nothing you can do about it was insanely good. He reminded me so much of Vincenzo because he has brains and brawn in equal measure, I slightly preferred Vincenzo because he wasn’t boggled down by self righteous morality and faced evil with evil, dishing out revenge especially capital revenge punishment to the deserving perpetrators, while the writers here saddled YoHan with the useless and weak GaOn as kind of a moral compass that ended up biting him in the ass in ep15. YoHan I support you and everything you did 1000%. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a life for a life. If you kill someone and you are not remorseful and apologetic instead you are arrogant about it then you deserve to die, no ifs and buts about it. It’s so sickening and disgusting when people feel very sad and bad for the punishments (I don’t care how severe it is) a perpetrator receives instead of feeling anger/rage for the pain and crime against the victim. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. If you deprive someone of their ability to live in this world then you should be deprived of yours too. Simple as that in my book. YoHan’s badassry and the chairwoman’s cunning savagery made me rate this show highly because I refuse to let the mastery that were these characters be overshadowed by the uselessness that was GaOn and his cop girlfriend. I doubt I will be rewatching this because I don’t think I can endure watching GaOn & that cop girl again so it’s 5/10 for me, if I ever do I will rewatch only the live court scenes, they were so damn good. Overall 9/10. I highly recommend but prepare to be frustrated and angry.
This was 5-10 eps too long. Honestly if they had cut down on the episodes this might have been much better. I shockingly enjoyed the beginning part of the drama aka the high school period over the second half of the drama aka the college period. The writers lost the plot in the 2nd half and it was super boring and beyond ridiculous. There was nothing absolutely nothing based on reality in this drama in the aspect of the characters, they were just all too unrealistic especially the Male Lead but I wasn’t really mad at it, I love watching series for the fantasy even though I still want it to be rooted in a little bit of realism. You might have thought we would, for the 1st time escape the hospital troupe in a CDrama but low & behold that was not to be, they found a way to insert it into the drama come hell or high water. I struggled so badly with the rating for this drama because with how much I loved the 1st 18eps, the vein in which I loved it, is in the same vein in which I loathe the remaining 10eps. The brightest star of this show is the little boy, he was such a delight and stole every scene he was in, I also liked the high school teacher, he sure has the best teacher award from me. Do I regret watching this, not really but I definitely will not be rewatching this drama as I struggled to finish it and was thankful for the fast forward button which was maximally utilized from ep21 and I honestly ended up not caring about both the main lead couple and the secondary couple, no matter how much I initially enjoyed their diabetes induced sweetness because it had no humph to it and ended up being a juvenile middle school romance. I wish Young Beautiful Shu ended up with Sibo and not Cheng Erluo, he was better off as her best friend to be honest and it would have made the drama much better IMO. FYI to CDrama writers not every childhood crush should end up together forever, forcing this troupe when it doesn’t work just brings down the value of the drama but what do I know.. Rewatch value 3/10 Overall 6.5/10 I recommend if you have nothing else to watch.
You are right about the target audience. The majority of the watchers are from the younger generation but that…
Lmao. I laughed reading this. Nowhere did I say it was childish or immature in a downgrading way. I said it was for a specific target audience, although it wasn’t limited to just said target audience as someone said their elder relative enjoyed the series. I just wasn’t one of the people who enjoyed it as it wasn’t my cup of tea. BTW that wasn’t me rationalizing anything, it was my thought process written out on why I didn’t enjoy it. It is my right to either like or not like as it’s also your right to not only just enjoy it but also make a whole podcast about it. The only thing you are right about is that I don’t care to hear your opinion. I get defending the series you like, I can respect that but what you won’t do is to dare to come for me. You really don’t want to trade word of wars with me. I will leave it at that.
Finished it. It is.... a pitty. I wonder why the scriptwriters wanted to sabotage their own show.First half is…
I watched this on VIKI and I said almost the exact same thing in the comment section. I know CDrama’s like their misunderstanding troupe but this felt like misunderstanding just for the sake of it, the reasons were trifling, silly and ridiculous. The writers were determined to throw in that misunderstanding troupe come hell or high water and they didn’t bloody care if it made any sense or not. After watching the 1st 14eps I was going to give this 10/10 but the last 10eps reduced it to a 6/10 for me but I ended up giving it 7.5/10 because of those first 14eps. Do I regret watching it, not really but if I knew beforehand that the romance we were going to get was borderline middle school I would have passed on it. Sorry for the long rant on your comment.
Watching this series I just realized that Our Secret walked so that Lighter and Princess could run. I watched Time and Him Are Just Right & Lighter and Princess before I started watching this and as I am watching I am seriously getting the vibes of both of them and I am not mad about it at all. The only complain I have so far is that they are making the FL talk like a baby. I get she is in high school but her female high school friends especially KeKe wasn’t talking like that. I know it’s a CDrama thingy to make their FL cute or something by making her talk and behave like a child, just FYI it might be tolerable as a young girl but it’s definitely not cute as an adult so I hope that now that she’s gotten into the university they will make her talk and behave more maturely because I really like this FL. She’s sassy and has spunk but they are literally killing all her sassy spunky vibes with this baby-like acting BS. Am at the final stretch of the series, let’s see how they end this one. Fingers crossed.
Update: one of my bane of contention was with the way the writers and directors made the FL, with the childish behavior and baby-like speech pattern during the high school period and although the baby-like speech pattern persisted, most of the childish behavior was done away with now in the present time during university, she grew more backbone, which was good to see. The relationship progressed after ep20 when there are just 4eps left and the romance is so muted, it’s barely there. After concluding the series I realized that it’s a middle school type of romance and it never pretended to be anything else, I will try to not let my expectations of what I wanted it to be influence my rating so I will try and rate as fairly as I can. Overall I enjoyed the drama but it’s pretty forgettable IMO and not something i would ever rewatch. Someone said beware of diabetes with this series and I kinda echo the sentiment a little bit, it’s definitely a sweet and fluffy series but it lacked that humph to it that would have made it super memorable like it’s successor Lighter and Princess. Simply put Our Secrets was for teenagers while Lighter and Princess was for a more matured audience even though the lead actors were quite young themselves. Rewatch value is 2/10 Overall value is 7.5/10.
Did you know that Rainbow Xu is 28 now and she will be 29 next month. She acts great as a younger character with…
Baby voice is not needed or make one cute, it rather just comes off as stupid/weak but that just my opinion. Its not the actress’s fault, I blame the writers and the director. I still like the actress and drama regardless
Although some parts of the drama got on my last damn nerves and the win-win resolution pissed me the hell off, I still consider this one hell of a series. Top notch everything, this series had it all. It was quality all around. The chemistry between Chen Fei Yu as Li Xun and Zhang Jing Yi as Zhu Yun was so scorching hot it’s was incredible to watch. It’s been a long time I saw chemistry that was this fire in CDrama. The only thing I didn’t like was that they didn’t make Zhu Yun have any identity, goals, dreams or aspirations that wasn’t somehow tied to Li Xun, he was literally her whole world but if you are going to go all in for someone in the way she did you might as well do it right and boy did she go all in for him and while I can’t be like her I certainly wont knock her for it either. I completely understood why he took the extreme route in propelling her to break up with him because God, him and everyone watching the show knew that she would never give up on him easily but I didn’t like how the writers took his bad treatment of her too far after his prison release, especially in that office scene before her overdose. But Li Xun was who he was and made no apologies for it. I agree with one reviewer that said how they made some changes to Li Xun in the later episodes just so they could give us a win-win situation that literally nobody asked for and was undeserved to say the least, I also wasn’t happy about that. If you want to watch a CDrama with real matured make out seshs with a good plot and solid acting then this is for you, I also recommend Falling into You. Rewatch value is 10/10 (I have already rewatched and planning on rewatching again soon) Overall is absolutely 10/10 I obviously highly highly recommend.
I dropped this like a hot rotten potato. It was just super boring and very cringy. I was going to rip out all of my hair and probably my eyeballs if Pharm cried one more time trauma or not, so the best solution for me was to drop this. You are suffering from “severe trauma” but instead of you to go to therapy and see a psychologist, you don’t, then what do you do, you cry and cry and cry incessantly, every f*cking ep. The tears were beyond ridiculous I stopped caring and didn’t give 2 f*cks how he and Dean turned out, hence the drop. If Pharm and Dean had any sort of chemistry, (which incase you don’t get my drift, they didn’t have any whatsoever), I don’t know if the incessant crying would have been tolerable but on second thought nothing absolutely nothing would have made the level and amount of crying I endured in the 5eps I foolishly watched worth it. Dropped this so obviously the rewatch value is Zero but since that’s not an option 1/10 it is. Overall is 1/10 also. I definitely DO NOT recommend this cringy boring cry fest masquerading as a series.
I’m curious what your pick for the best KBL would be. No shade intended, just wondering.
OMG. You sound like me, unfortunately, although we slightly disagree on the “epic-ness” of the eight sense, we have almost the same aesthetics. The way I hate those dead fish kisses in KBL or any series for that matter, I really can’t put it into words. It’s beyond ridiculous how anyone can justify people who are 25yrs and above kissing (more like lip pressing) like that, prior solid angst and chemistry be damned
I’m curious what your pick for the best KBL would be. No shade intended, just wondering.
I appreciate your take but I kinda disagree on the naked in bed together part, the lighting used for that “naked in bed” scene was so dark you could barely see anything, it was done more like an illusion and it apparently worked because you and many other people seem to have loved it. To be clear, I didn’t hate it, I actually did like it but I felt it was more showy than doing, hence the illusion. I love the bed scenes in To My Star, it was emotional, it was romantic and it was intense, I might be biased because of how much I love TMS so IMO I think TMS is way better but I liked this one well enough too.
I swear, I’m seriously literally in tears laughing so damn hard after reading your comment. Unfortunately you can’t see me to believe it but the tears won’t stop rolling 😅😅😅😅😅😅 Good funny review
I have read so many people saying this is the best KBL of all time. IMO, It’s NOT. Although I say it’s not, it’s still pretty good. The best thing about this series is the dialogue, cinematography and music. The acting was pretty good overall and the dialogues felt like how people communicate in real life aka the dialogues felt real and not scripted.. It touched mental health, I’m so over this new trend of mental health this mental health that because a lot of people have started using mental health as excuses for their weakness/shortcomings and it has taking away from people who are actually really suffering from serious mental illnesses/ health. And in the case of this series Jae Won was genuinely suffering from it in a bad way and I am glad that we got to see him work through it with a therapist. The cinematography was top notch and most of the close up shots were so beautifully done. I loved the beach/water shots it was beautiful. The music selection here was sooooo good. Hence the only 10/10 I gave. Why then did I say this was not the best KBL. The series felt very choppy. The transition was way too horrible, It cuts from one scene to another, sometimes you don’t know if it’s a flashback or current or even a dream, and honestly sometimes the series was not making any sense. But the leads had mad chemistry and their relationship was cute and all, so there was that. I personally won’t take someone like Jae Won back after everything he did even though I understood why he did so. I honestly get the trauma but what if something happens again, then you will shut down and shut me out again and what go back to your ex again. I watched on VIKI and someone in the comments said they would advice Ji Hyun to stay the hell away from Jae Won, I understand the sentiment but while I agree on not continuing the relationship I don’t agree with him staying away, I think he should only be just friends with him but that is my opinion. Plus I hate when a relationship feels like it’s only on one person’s terms and timeline which was the case in this relationship. Jae Won pursed him 1st, kissed him 1st and then ignored him afterwards. Then the Un-fateful beach trip was also on Jae Won’s timeline and even after the unfortunate incident, he alone decided to shut Ji Hyun down to “protect him”. Their getting back together was also on Jae Won’s timeline. The two best character was the boss lady and Ae Ri IMO. The 2 ladies were awesome plus their acting was really good. My best scene was the classroom scene in ep10 between Ji Hyun and Ae Ri, I tried to be fair to this drama in my rating. I was originally going to give this 6/10 because of the choppy and bad transitions of the scenes but I decided against it and was instead going to give it 7.5/10 but that Ji Hyun and Ae Ri ep10 classroom scene alone made me add .5 so my overall rating is 8/10. I didn’t love this series but I liked it enough, but not enough to rewatch. So rewatch value is 5/10.
The beginning part was completely out of this world because it was all martial arts, the later episodes were more scheming and it took away a little bit of the essence of what made me fall in love with the series in the first place, I’m not adverse to schemes in a series so it didn’t damper it too much for me. The only problem I had was that I didn’t think it needed any romance and while I have nothing against mismatched couples this one’s just didn’t do it for me at all. There was absolutely no chemistry or even any type of sparks flying between the pair of Xiao Se/Sikong & Lei Wu Jie/Ye Ruo Yi, especially Xiao & Sikong (their romantic moment interactions was really painful to watch IMO) and the writers trying to force the couple thing to work was just cringy to say the least. I really wish they took the faux romance part out. They could have all just been martial brothers and sisters. All that being said, as much as I wanted to take out some points because of the forced romantic pairings, because trust me it was incredibly bad and I so badly wanted to but I decided against it as the overall series did outweigh the poor romance efforts so I still gave it a solid 10⭐️. Xiao Se was a breathtaking character and Li Hong Yi who portrayed him is such a good actor and did a very fine job. He sure brought Xiao Se/Xiao Chu He/Prince Yong An characters to life. He’s surely becoming one of my faves. My favorite character and I think he will also be that for most of the viewers is none other than Wu Xin, he’s one liners were a thing of joy. I wish he featured more throughout the series especially at the later episodes. Every moment he was on screen was important and meaningful. I also applaud Liu Xue Yi for going all in for this character, starting with agreeing to shave his hair for the role (he looked so handsome) and then bringing the character to life. The Bromance between Xiao Se&Wu Xin, Xiao Se&Lie Wu Jie, Xiao Se/Wu Xin&Lei Wu Jie was the only relationship that was needed to be very honest. One of my major disappointment was that we never got to see Spear Deity fight. The top3 fights IMO: 3rd place goes to the fight between Lone Deity and Xiao Se in Tianqi City. 2nd place goes to Baili DongJun (Liquor Deity) and Mo Yi (Earth Deity) on the celestial island. 1st place goes to Tang Lian against the Dark river people. OMG Tang Lian stole all our hearts with that fight. The actor that played this role did such an awesome job with it. The CGI and fighting choreography was so incredible I was pleasantly gobsmacked. It fulfilled all my martial arts fantasies and then some. Rewatch value 10/10 (I have already rewatched) Overall 10/10. I highly recommend.

Rewatch value 3/10
Overall 6.5/10
I recommend if you have nothing else to watch.
Rewatch value is 2/10
Overall value is 7.5/10.
Rewatch value is 10/10 (I have already rewatched and planning on rewatching again soon)
Overall is absolutely 10/10
I obviously highly highly recommend.
Good funny review
The top3 fights IMO:
3rd place goes to the fight between Lone Deity and Xiao Se in Tianqi City.
Rewatch value 10/10 (I have already rewatched)
Overall 10/10.
I highly recommend.
