i thought this drama is just a big PILE OF SHIIT.....but i was wrong , its WORST than that. -__-
Lmao…. I actually really laughed at this comment. I have no interest in watching this drama because I refuse to watch anything with Allen Ren in it but I’m reading the comments and yours was just so funny.
Let me start by saying it pains me so very deeply to rate this drama lower than 10 because I love Bai Lu so much and I like Luo YunXi a lot and their acting here was as incredible as I thought it was going to be. Bai Lu played her characters something fierce. You could feel Ye XiWu’s inner battle between wanting to kill the chance of the devil lord resurrecting because of the horror she personally witnessed and falling in love with the Tantai Jin who isn’t yet the devil lord. The naivety that was Sang Jiu came through the screens and although Li SuSu was majorly relegated to the background during the final lifetime arc, BaiLu still managed to do her justice at the end part of the series when she finally shared the center stage. Kudos my girl. But I must confess Luo was indeed that star of this show. He shone so damn brightly. God damn. If you think about it he had easy/hard characters to work with, easy in the sense that you can picture what they are supposed to be and emote it, hard in the sense that you can give either too much or give too little but boy oh boy he gave just the right and perfect amount. I was sold on all the characters. The way he played all the characters is mighty impressive. MingYe indeed felt like the god of war, Tantai Jin in Cheng Kingdom felt like a maltreated hostage and Tantai Jin in the Jing Kingdom felt like an unbeatable king. Cang Jiu Min felt like a sect member, and then what can I say about him playing the mighty and devious devil lord that would do his performance justice, I don’t think I have enough words to describe the performance so I will go with absolute perfection. Why then isn’t this a perfect score for my rating?. The impressive acting displayed and the wonderful cast were seriously screwed over by their writers and I’m not sure I can convey enough how much the writers royally screwed the actors with this weak, useless and illogical plot. It was sooooooo painful to watch, the only thing that made me not drop the series was the combo of one of my fave actresses in Bai Lu, one of my fave CDrama couple in BaiLu & Luo YunXi, the magnificent setting/CGI, costumes and then the music. The CGI was top notch, the costumes were so beautiful, elegant and powerful, it was a visually pleasing experience The music was also so good too. Someone said that some of the outfits worn did not match the scene they were featured in. I kinda of agree with the person. Sometimes they felt overdressed for what the scene called for but I forgave them for that because the costumes were just that spectacular. Since the plot was rubbish anyways I might as well get my satisfaction from seeing beautiful costumes. But god damn that plot was a total mess. I know with fantasy dramas the possibilities can be endless and the writers have a sort of freedom to go outside the box but that’s not what happened here, I had zero problems with the three lives and all but that’s where any sense in the plot ended. The rest of the plot just felt like the writers just wrote whatever the hell they wanted and to hell with the viewers and just honestly without any regards to the intelligence of the viewers. The writers didn’t feel they had any accountability to the viewers and I for one reached and exceeded my tolerance level for the foolishness that the plot became and I started fast forwarding after the dream arc. Lemme tell you, you cannot make up the incredulous nonsense the writers tried feeding and selling to us and I wasn’t eating or buying their crap. The level of misunderstandings in this drama was just so freaking unrealistic and unbelievable. Most of the decisions and actions taking by the characters did not make any sense. I understand plot device and plot advancement and when it’s done well you can forgive it and suspend your disbelief but when it’s cheaply done, it just ends up playing on the intelligence of the viewers. My friends and family know how much i hate when anyone tries to play with my intelligence or lie to me. I tend to be super unforgiving about any and both of them. It’s really hard to describe how awful the plot was without going into details and I can’t because I doubt the space will be enough and I don’t care to make this review lengthier than it’s already going to be. We have someone who is a known liar and a manipulator (to be honest I could not understand the power that was giving to this character in the first 2 lifetimes, it didn’t make any sense) but when she speaks grown ass people, supposedly smart people at that just take her her word as gospel. The amount of times I posted “so ridic” in the VIKI comments section where I watched can make up a script. I’m not going to further waste my breath on the character that is Tian Huan and Ye BingChang, she was already giving way too much importance that I’m not willing to give her anymore. Although I do echo someone else who said they were glad that Sang Jiu gave her a solid ass whooping, although it wasn’t nearly enough in my book for what she deserved but alas we got what we got. The amount of blood they spat in this series was enough to start a drink business lemme tell you. Lol Gongye JiWu’s arrogance and delusions of grandeur did not evoke whatever the writers thought it would, I just found him super annoying useless. IMO he was basically more weak/useless after every lifetime. It’s unbelievable and he was intolerable to me. Even though he temporarily betrayed Tantai Jin, one of my fave characters is still Nian Baiyu, the way he was loyal and loved Tantai Jin unconditionally was something for the books. Another thing that I didn’t necessarily like and was not a fan of at all, was that they went a little too far with the satanic occultist vibes. Honestly a part of me regrets watching this but I know i would have watched it because of my love for the cast members I stated above. I live by a code, I might not care for something afterwards but if I make a decision to do something, I will stand by that decision. So ultimately I can’t really say I regret it. But I definitely won’t be rewatching it that’s for sure Rewatch value 2/10 Overall 7.5/10
This series was just so bad all around. It really felt like the lowest budget series I have ever watched. There was zero continuity in this drama. One of the leads got punched several times but we see him in the next scene on the same day and he has zero bruises. This “I am so poor and struggling so hard financially but won’t take your money because I love you or hate you” only happens in dramas and movies lemme tell you. IRL that shit won’t happen. You need money so badly to pay off debtors that are goons but you won’t agree to get paid doing a job you are already doing because you are doing it for love, that is such BS and they need to stop portraying this martyr act BS in dramas. It’s not like it’s free money or hand me downs. I don’t even know what the hell is wrong with free money as long as it was giving to you and not stolen. Most of the so called rich people do so many shady things to make their money and get good lawyers/accountants to evade taxes and pocket more money and they don’t feel an atom of shame, why then should anyone who is struggling financially with no fault of theirs feel ashamed to receive free financial help. I’m not struggling financially but best believe if anyone was to give me free money right now, I would very gladly take it and say thank you. IMO, There will never be anything wrong or awkward with receiving money legally and honorably through gifts or menial jobs especially when the money is severely needed. Back to the review, I actually really liked the main characters, they were very cute and i especially liked how Sangha was sassy and spunky, he always spoke his mind. I am so over how majority of one of the leads in BL dramas being extremely/painfully timid almost to the point of stupid and fearing their own shadows because the writers wants to portray them as being cute. I really wanted to rate this higher because of how cute the main leads were but I just cannot justify giving this anything more than 4/10. Rewatch Value 1/10 Overall Value 4/10
This could have been really good with another set of writers. I liked the cinematography and the music was pretty good. The leads had good chemistry but that’s all that was good with this. I have read some reviews about the pacing and I completely agree with them, the pacing was just weird and felt convoluted. It just jumps from one thing to another. It felt like things were just going from 0-100 without any preamble, I have watched a lot of short dramas that managed to be cohesive, so it definitely wasn’t the length of time. So Kang In Soo has been putting the moves on Yoon Sang Yi, I mean it wasn’t subtle at all, it was full on come get it moves, then Sang Yi kisses him and he bolts, really, make it make sense, all just to add unnecessary and unneeded drama. This had so much potential IMO but turned out to be something that wasn’t worth it at all to me. Rewatch value 1/10 Overall 5/10 (And I’m being very generous)
This should have been called Old Fashion Pancakes, Lol. The best thing about this drama is definitely the dialogue, it was different than what you normally get in other BLs, I really enjoyed their flirty convos, it felt fresh and refreshing. This drama was way too short and had some scenes that could have been cut out to show us more of the main characters, this series started with so much angst and tension but it was just killed off midway instead of transitioning into proper romance after self discovery and self acceptance. I have had this on my list for awhile, I’m glad I finally watched it but it’s not something I would rewatch as I feel I didn’t get any pay off from all those angst. Rewatch value 3/10 Overall 7.5/10
I watched Manner of Death after watching this series and lemme tell you to say that the improvement in the acting department is tremendous is an understatement especially on the part of Max because i felt like he couldn’t act very well in this series as he had exactly one facial expression for every scene in this series, i didn’t even realize they were the same people who acted Together With Me when I was watching Manner of Death, that’s how good, different and significantly improved they were in the later. Now back to the review, the nerve of Knock to be annoyed/furious at Pleng and crying that she kissed another guy is beyond ridiculous especially since he has not only kissed someone else but slept with someone else twice and even has feelings for said someone else. As for Pleng, I’m sorry her story arc is beyond unbelievable, the extent to which she went is super unrealistic for a relationship that is not even up to 3months. Both Pleng and Knock were acting like it was a super long term relationship that they had and are trying to save it and make work by any means necessary. Puhhhhh-leassssseeee. I think the whole Knock, Pleng and Korn triangle took way to long to resolve and I was just over it. I didn’t like Pleng but I loved her outfits, they were so good but it felt completely out of place with the overall vibe of the series and other cast members outfits. I liked Yiwha because she was very good to her friends and sussed out Pleng right from the beginning. I have no problem with teacher/student relationship regardless of the age difference as long as they are both of legal adult age and consenting but there was zero chemistry between Phu and Kavitra, their attempt at romance was just so awkward and made it painful to watch as a viewer. The acting in this series is not the best IMO but it’s not the worst either, the plot is not realistic also IMO but it’s not unwatchable either too. Overall it’s a decent series just not anything groundbreaking.
PS: the best line from this series is definitely when Korn asked Knock in ep12 “Are You Stupid Because of Love or Just Born Stupid”?
Hi actually the whole fl character has also made me pause watching for now(it was like i was enduring it)but i…
Yeah the romance is so much more better in Lighter & Princess although the reunion trope in this is kinda different. Although the romance is not a lot as I would have wanted but It’s really good IMO
After ep 22-23 this show lost all its positivity for me. I mean i still dont get the logic behind shiyi's action.…
You think they should have put her innocence over other designers and the whole company. All the designers want to bail and jump ship but wait In Your Opinion let them fight to prove the innocence of a dumb person instead of saving the company by any means necessary. The onus is not on Shen Si Yi or the company to prove her innocence. The business/art world in real life is cutthroat and she’s not equipped for it at all. Actually GuanYe is the dumb and pathetic one. After finally getting your big break through connections, you are dumb enough to just hand over your design to someone just like that, then you certainly deserve to be fired. If not because she’s friends with Lu Ke, she wouldn’t have even been in the company in the first place. I don’t care if she has talent or not, she is just not a reliable person and can’t be trusted. I can’t for the life of me understand how she is friends with that group. They all have their shits together outside of personal relationships, she looks like a child playing dress up with the group. They all keep babying her like she’s a child. Who needs that kind of liability as a friend and an employee.
I just finished rewatching “Why Women Love” and I wanted to watch something else that Jin “Gina” Chen was featured because that woman can act and has the best matured strong sexy FL aura for CDramas on lockdown IMO and I was looking for a mature CDrama without all the cutesy baby-voiced and baby-like FL characters and needed a break from all that. I never knew Cdrama had this mature type of series. It’s like watching real life adults live their everyday lives. There is no oh they are pushing 30 and haven’t been in a relationship before and that pull/push CDrama trope between the leads and then they start dating and are the only ones for each other for all of times but can’t even sit close to each other without being so shy and looking so awkward and also wouldn’t even sleep on the same bed, even a bed big enough for 3 people, how tf are you in a relationship but can’t even share a bed together, I still do not understand the logic behind this behavior in Cdramas because you can absolutely share a bed without having sex but wait for it this same people who are pushing 30 and haven’t been kissed before nor being in a relationship and who are so shy and adverse to sharing a bed at the beginning of the said first relationship would suddenly in a few episodes into the dating life, become experts in the bedroom without any prior experience, puhhhhh-leaassseeee. But there is none of that in this drama, thank God for that. The characters are real world/life adults here with their own struggles and challenges. The only character I do not like is Guan Yue. She feels she is owed something by everyone. She is annoying with the constant woe is me attitude towards her supposed failures which she is the architect of most of the time. I’m at ep18 and she has become less annoying but I don’t know if it’s too late for viewers to fall in love with her. Shen Si Yi takes life by the bull horn, she knows what she wants and she goes after it. She been so scarred for life by her parents and it’s really sad. I love her character so much, I agree with Yao Yuan though, if she doesn’t open herself to real love, she’s letting her parents win and they don’t deserve to win so I really wish she would open up herself to love so as to not let them win and also she can experience life in full. My favorite line so far is from ep18 when Lu Ke got back from here date with Zhang Mang and wanted to sneak in but Shen Si Yi wasn’t having it. During their convo she told her that “Zhang’s eyes are shining when he looks at her”, she’s like really, Shen Si Yi is like “Ofcourse not, it isn’t as if he has light bulbs for eyes”, I laughed so hard at that. It’s a really good series and I’m really enjoying watching it. It’s really not something I would rewatch though.
Update @ep23. I didn’t think GuanYue could be dumber but well she’s proven me totally wrong. She finally gets her big break through connections (which I personally have nothing against as long as you are worth it but in this case she’s totally not worth it IMO) and then she’s so dumb, stupid and gullible and just hands over her design to someone else just like that, she deserves to be fired IMO. The business/art world is cutthroat and nobody has the time to hold your hands. I don’t know where she gets off throwing tantrums and the self righteous indignation towards her friends, who are trying their best to cheer her foolish self up. I can’t for the life of me understand how she’s friends with that group. She looks and feels out of place with them. Even though they are struggling with maintaining personal/romantic relationships, they all still have the matured adult aura but she just looks and behaves like a child who is playing dress up with her elder ones friends. And the group keeps babying and coddling her instead of telling her to grow the hell up.
Update @ep36 after completing the series. I reduced my original rating of 9/10 to 8/10 just because I wished the series focused more on the personal/romantic relationships of the characters, I don’t know if they changed directors half way, because the mature sexy romance of the first part turned into a muted romance, maybe that’s why they left Shen Si Yi and Yao Yuan’s reconciliation to the last episode because there was no way they could have muted that chemistry/romance, which was a real shame that we didn’t get to see them together for longer. Guan Yue should have as well been one of the leads because lemme tell you it felt like she got more screen time that the leads, which would have been fine if her story arc was interesting. Anyways overall I enjoyed the series and I don’t regret watching it because I got to watch Jin “Gina” Chen.
Rewatch value 5/10 Overall 8/10 Even though I would not necessarily rewatch this I highly recommend you watch it once.
This is the most eloquent review I have ever read on this site. Damn I was almost hoping the review didn’t end because I was enjoying your use of word play so much. To say you’ve convinced me not to watch this, well that’s an understatement.
They certainly don’t make them like Vincenzo or Taxi Driver anymore. Damn. I actually really liked part 1 because it was like a build up for what’s to come but to say I am super disappointed with this part2 is putting it mildly. It was super anticlimactic and extremely underwhelming. I honestly wouldn’t even call this a revenge drama at all, IMO it’s more like a Justice (law) drama. I wanted to see pain and suffering in a severe way but all I got was loss of voice, maybe or maybe not blindness, and 2 freaking prison sentences for our 4 major perpetrators. To say I have been left unsatisfied with the outcome of this is such an understatement. It would have been better and made more sense IMO if it was Kim Gyeong Ran that pushed Jeon Jae Joon instead of Ha Do Young. Someone’s review was like, yeah I get all she went through and that they don’t agree with bullying and abuse but said reviewer would have preferred if she got some awakening and chose forgiveness and chose to let go instead and I’m like GTFOH with that stupid self righteous goody2shoes fake and pretentious attitude. It wasn’t you or any of your family members that was tortured so brutally for an extended amount of time, so you can come here and sit on your self righteous high horse and spew some pretentious crap so you can come across as a good person, once again GTFOH with that BS. She didn’t even get revenge, she more like got Justice, the people that were hurt/dead was not even her doing, it was their fellow perpetrators that dished to them just a little of what they actually deserved. My rating is lower on this than part1 because my revenge fantasy wasn’t met at all and I’m super pissed that no severe bodily harm was done to the 4 of them especially to Park Yeon Jin, Jeon Jae Joon and Lee Sa Ra, the same way they did to several other people. I am an eye for an eye kinda person. In my book whatever is good for the goose is also good for the gander. I’m going to go watch season 2 of Taxi Driver and then rewatch Vincenzo to get my revenge fix. This was the perfect drama for the lead actress and she shone in this drama because it didn’t require her to show a lot of different range, i don’t think she can act very well, if she’s to display several/different expressions, I don’t know how that will come across because her face always looks so frozen like she can’t move any of the muscle on her face. I haven’t watched decadents of the sun but I have dropped all the other dramas of hers that I tried watching, this is the only one i completed. I definitely don’t plan on rewatching this. Rewatch Value 3/10 Overall value 7.5/10
I finally got around to watching this series. I taught it was overhyped but i am going to tell you right now, it’s not. It’s not perfect by any means because I noticed some flaws but they are not dealbreaker’s kinda flaws, so overall it was really good. So far nothing has really happened to any of the perpetrators, so am assuming they are leaving it for the part 2. The brutality that was the bullying was beyond my comprehension. I can’t believe that in a whole school and city no single person could do anything about that level of brutality. That some teachers and some students can just brutalize people at will and absolutely nothing is done about it. I have seen this on a couple of Korean series and if this is what is going on in their schools over there without any protection from the authorities, then I really have no words. My only complaint is that for someone who has planned so long and hard for this revenge, she should have taking self defense classes and learned how to fight. I don’t discount her trauma at all because what she went through was pretty traumatic but if you are going to say that you are hardened now and are going to exert cruel revenge, you can’t be shuddering, flinching and terrified at the sight or touch of the perpetrators you are going after, it really does defeat the whole badass-ry persona. If the perpetrators can tell that you are still afraid of them, then you are likely not going to strike the kind of fear and terror that you need to when you face off with them. I don’t know if that’s what they writers and directors were going for but I would have preferred she was mentally and physically stronger and they were all super terrified of her but it’s still a pretty good revenge drama. I have enjoyed this first part but I sincerely hope to see some severe damage being done to this arrogant vicious bullies in the part 2. I very much doubt I will be rewatching this, this is something that I think can be enjoyed only once. Rewatch value 5/10 Overall 9/10
you're sooo right about the highs of this show being better than drugs (which in return, made the lows hit even…
I’m so glad everything I hear people say they loved it as much as I did. It really did hit all the right nerves and gave me all the good feels. Our one and only consigliere.
1) A man declares himself to a woman2) A stranger enters their room and says: 1-You killed my sister!3) And he…
I tried to echo this sentiment but you phrased it better than I did. That literally ended any chance whatsoever in a realistic scenario. You accuse me of murder or you even believe that I am capable of murdering someone, how can that even be repaired? But it’s a drama and the leads have to end up together so there is that
This was a fluffy romcom that wanted to add a bit of tension with the whole dead friend/sister arc and IMO it wasn’t successful. I wish they had kept it as just a romcom and not overdone the whole dead girl Su Tian angle. It became way too much for a girl that both boys barely knew in the real sense of the word. The nerve of that man child to just barge into her hotel room and accuse her of murdering his sister without having any evidence and she had to leave her child to go investigate and clear her name and was able to find someone to collaborate her story but if there was no other person on that bus that saw what happened they both would have branded her a murderer but oh wait since they have all cleared up this tiny little misunderstanding *insert sarcasm* why don’t she become his sister so he can stop being so sad. Puhhhhhh-lease. I don’t know how realistic this would happen IRL but I sure as hell know it wouldn’t happen with me. And Boy GTFOH. She’s very nice because best believe I wouldn’t be so nice and tolerating after he accused me of a whole ass murder, grief or not, best friend’s boyfriend or not, much less offering to be his sister. Smh. As for the male lead, you were literally proposing and someone barged in and accused the woman you claim to love but instead of stating with a matter of fact tone that you know she’s not capable of such, no what does he proceed to do, he turns to her with a suspicious accusing look and he ask for her to explain herself and give details of what happened. Best believe that IRL, that relationship ends right there, at least for me. No ifs and buts about it. The extreme level of bashing and vitriol that was directed at the FL in the comment section on VIKI where I watched was seriously telling of the amount of vile/hateful/idiotic arrogant judgmental pricks we have in the world. Every time on social media we read about people killing themselves because of hateful comments. People will then flood social media like justice warriors with their faux outrage and things like #StopHate #SpreadLoveAndNotHate #BeTheChangeYouWantToSee #MeTooMovement #WomenSupportingWomen and all the other buzz word worthy slogans and hashtags will start trending, which sound all nice and good but in reality are not practiced by a lot of those who preach it. When they get on an anonymous sites, then they spew their hateful vitriol because no one will know it’s them. Know the kind of thoughts and words, the people who you associate yourself with utter on certain and especially important conversations/topics. Be intentional with the kind of individuals you surround yourself with. We really do need to do better as a society. #BeWise & #BeGuided. I know I deviated from the review but that level of hate and insults towards the FL in that VIKI comment section was just beyond intolerable. It was a nice romcom and that little kid was so damn adorable. The romance was cute and all but it lacked fire and it was surprising considering they have done a drama together before. Maybe it’s the director, who knows. I very much doubt I would be rewatching this as that whole dead girl arc grated on my last nerve + there was really no bite/fire in the relationship. I can tolerate watching vanilla romance just once. Rewatch value 4/10 Overall valve 7.5/10
Damn I can’t believe someone wrote a long “epistle” review just like I did, but ended up giving a different view point than I did. This really does show how terribly bad the plot of this series was. It’s unfortunate that most people won’t rate a drama logically/rationally just because they are obsessed with the leads especially with the MLs. Thank you for being bold enough to write this honest/real review. The plot of this drama was bad. It was really bad and a lot of people calling it the best drama they have ever watched is so wild to me. I question the taste / intelligence level of some MDL reviewers.
A fluffy nonsense. I Honestly don’t have the wherewithal to write this review but I will for the sake of anyone who hasn’t watched and debating if they should. This started so good. It was funny and cute. But it ended up being a cute fluffy middle school romance drama that disappointed me greatly. I don’t know if it’s because of his age or what the reason was that made the kiss scenes so extremely bad. But that’s just an excuse IMO as Wang AnYu was the same age when he acted in “Falling Into You” and he over delivered there (I keep saying that actors/actress and CDrama directors need to go take kissing lessons from that drama). If it was only just the issue of the kiss scenes been terrible i could have tolerated it but no, when they finally confessed to having feelings for each other we got the most horribly awkward tv couple of all time. The awkwardness was so damn painful to watch and it was illogical. It didn’t make any logical sense why these two people who have been living together for so long will be this extremely awkward with each other. Like I said i don’t know if it was the age of Lin Yi or because of the director that the kiss scenes were so bad but am just glad that Tang Xiao Tian the SML made it up to Xing Fei aka FL 2yrs later in their own drama My Little Happiness. If you want to watch an adult romance with better plot featuring 2 out of the 4 main leads in this drama then go watch My Little Happiness. Enough said. Don’t even get me started on the second couple. The FL was in love with the SML since highSchool but the SML kept putting off starting a relationship with her and disappointing her so many times, when the FL finally got over him, the light bulbs went off and he realized that he’s in love with her but alas it was too late. One of the FLs best friends fell in love with said SML even knowing the situation-ship between her “friend” aka the FL and the SML, that was icky alone on its own for me but the major eye roll moment was when they tried to sell me that the SML has now falling in love with said FLs friend. The way the feelings happened went from 0-100 and was so super unrealistic, he was crying over the FL but less than a week/month he’s now in love with the FLs friend, puhhhhh-lease. Rebound anyone? I was going to give this a 2 or 3/10 to be honest but the last episode was nice so it made me change it to 5/10 but that is all this deserves IMO. I won’t be rewatching this horrible awkward painful experience that’s for sure Rewatch value 2/10 Overall value 5/10
You are so lucky, so envious. Wish I could erase my memories… 😔
Me too. Wish I could erase my memories and watch it all over again for the first time. But it’s all good, because I have rewatched so many times and I love it each time
Bai Lu played her characters something fierce.
The CGI was top notch, the costumes were so beautiful, elegant and powerful, it was a visually pleasing experience
The music was also so good too.
Lol
Gongye JiWu’s arrogance and delusions of grandeur did not evoke whatever the writers thought it would, I just found him super annoying useless.
But I definitely won’t be rewatching it that’s for sure

Even though I would not necessarily rewatch this I highly recommend you watch it once.
To say you’ve convinced me not to watch this, well that’s an understatement.

Our one and only consigliere.

I won’t be rewatching this horrible awkward painful experience that’s for sure
