I am struggling with how to fairly rate this drama. It had so many things wrong with it but it had some good moments also. I totally get the persistent and determined angle they were trying for with Ha Ram in pursing Seo Yi Jin but it came off as too pushy and was tending towards harassment, no should mean no. It seems when beautiful/handsome/rich people display such behaviors they are seen as cute/romantic etc but when people who aren’t attractive/poor do the same thing they get labeled as creepy/stalkerish etc. It’s a very dishonest and selective world we live in. This series struggled with really bad pacing, they tried to fit too many things without having enough time to flesh them out The acting, ots and chemistry between our main couple was actually really decent, so IMO it could have been a lot better if the things mentioned above where handled much better. This isn’t something I would rewatch and I am not really sure if I will say that I do or don’t recommend it. Hi. I read your review and was reading this thread of replies to your review. I just wanted to tell you and encourage you to never be afraid to speak your mind. I know there are so many delusional fanboys and fangirls on MDL that think they have the right to police what people can say on this site because of their obsessive delusions towards the leads, especially towards most of the popular/handsome MLs, therefore are aggressive/insulting to anyone who isn’t praising and singing kumbaya along with them in reviewing dramas. This is a public site where everyone has a right to review any drama based on how they felt while watching it. Your opinion is yours and yours alone and it’s valid whether I or anyone else agrees with it, that’s why it’s called your opinion. I hope I haven’t overstepped. Cheers
Well... if that's bad acting for you then I seriously doubt that you can judge good from bad 🤔Since he's one…
I guess you have the right to say my review/opinion is wrong but I don’t have the right to say the quality of the drama is not my cup of tea. You thinking I need validation from people I don’t know for whatever reason and that in the grand scheme of things won’t increase my worth and more-so on a drama that is pretty forgettable to me, no less, is hilarious. My opinion about his acting is not going to make them not cast him anymore in any drama especially since you claim that he’s praised for his outstanding acting skills, if you really believe that he’s acting is as outstanding as you claim why then are you mad at my opinion which you also generously pointed out didn’t get any positive response. Ooooooppppsssss sorry comment police, I didn’t know that I couldn’t post or repost my comments however much I liked, I didn’t read that in the MDL do’s & don’ts but thanks for pointing it out. Is it bad that I am laughing so hard about this whole thing because it’s pretty funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Review @ ep1-14 I actually do like this drama but I so wanted to love it for the sake of Zhou Ye, became a fan of hers after watching her in Word of Honor (I can’t rave enough about that series, special shoutout to the one and only Chief of the Ghost Valley, the philanthropist Wen Kexing) but I don’t love it so far. There are so many continuity fails but I will highlight two. 1). He had huge scars from Su Ying stabbing him in ep1 but all of a sudden the scars disappeared few episodes later 2). When he went to retrieve his sword the first time, the journey was so hard / tumultuous that’s why Yan Hui couldn’t go with him but when they went the second time, they just basically strolled into the place. Yan Hui keeps losing things just for the sake of furthering the plot which is out of character for someone who cherishes everything she has. Also once again we have a female character Su Ying who is so obsessed with a man (the only difference this time is her obsession isn’t with the ML) she is extremely vile and vicious and willing to go to any and all length for him. This perpetual CDrama plot is getting so damn old. Especially the level at which they make this female characters reach. It’s beyond ridiculous and unrealistic. I personally don’t know any woman in my real life who behaves in those extreme ways.
Update @ep21 I am struggling so hard to continue this drama. It’s not terribly bad but it’s not great either. The acting from the ML is actually so bad. He’s had exactly one expression so far. He’s acting range is very limited IMO but he’s handsome so I guess that covers up for lack of acting abilities to some people. Whatever floats anyone’s boat…. The comedic parts of this drama just feels out of place for me. One more thing I don’t care how handsome or beautiful someone is, or whatever reason they had to stab and almost kill me, nobody is falling in love with someone who literally stabbed them and left them for dead. The lovers of this series can try to justify it any which ways they like, “he has to save the kids” “he was going to return the protective heart thingy to her so he knew she won’t die” etc but to look someone you claim to love in the eyes and stab them for the 3rd time I might add is just unacceptable and as far I am concerned there is absolutely no coming back from that. He could have asked for it but nah, let’s stab her and then she literally fell so badly, he didn’t even try to break her fall, he just left her there, but wait, he’s really so sorry and because he’s so sorry she has to understand and not only forgive him but let it go and continue the relationship after he couldn’t take 2mins to ask for it and just had to take it in the most cruel way possible. I am sure eventually she’s going to forgive him and they will live happily ever after but that’s a relationship I can never get behind so that arc of the drama has already left a bitter taste in my mouth.
Update @completion. The production team for this drama really dropped the ball big time especially the editing department and script writers. So many inconsistencies and lack of continuity. The errors is the details was just way to much for me to ignore and tolerate. Marks appear and disappear in the same scene. The characters powers and strengths (with the exception of the dark lord aura guy) where so inconsistent and felt like it was based on what each scene needed. I can go on and on but I have already spent days watching this drama and that is enough time I’m willing to give this drama. The only thing that was good for me in this drama was the costumes., they looked beautiful and rich. I am obviously never going to rewatch this drama. Rewatch value 1/10 Overall value 6/10 (i am being super generous with this rating) I highly do not recommend but that’s my opinion, you are free to make yours.

I think Jiang is the main ML and Hua Wu Que is the SML. Jiang has more screen time especially at the beginning. I would say it’s about 65-35% with what I can remember.
I'm watching TWM right now, 2 episodes left, and I don't know if I can keep up... I already see Manner of dead…
The story continued in TWM: Next Chapter. I think I watched a couple of episodes of that and just couldn’t take it anymore and dropped it. Maybe I will finish it one day, who knows.
It’s been a while since I watched this and I’m just reviewing it now, kind of forgot majority of the plot but reading some comments reminded me a lot about the plot. Obviously nothing extraordinary about it, if I needed to read comments to remember most of the plot but It was a pretty good and quick watch and I found it interesting at the time. I did watch this after watching Lighter & Princess. I doubt most series going forward are going to come anywhere close to the chemistry and romance that was masterfully displayed, directed and produced in Lighter and Princess for a while. So I will try not to judge most series with those lens if not most of them will definitely fall short. But this drama did rather ok in the chemistry and romance part compared to other highSchool/College dramas. Rewatch Value 5/10 Overall 8/10
I wonder where it is that the plot unravelled for you. I rather think, and most here agree, that at least the…
LMAO. You were so eager to jump into the fray to display your “superiority” to me with your passive aggressive comment disguised as “TED” talk (your words) in a way to bring me down a notch, I presume without actually going the insult route but then you couldn’t help yourself and called me juvenile (although I’m sure you will disagree and say it’s the crap and so ridic words you called juvenile). Once more in your eagerness to show me, whatever it is you actually believe you did show me, I guess you didn’t see the part where I said where I said Luo portrayed the devil lord to perfection, I knew what it was before I watched it so I clearly was not judgmental about the genre or culture, this was fiction and to my knowledge China doesn’t have any devil lord so I don’t know exactly how I was judgmental about a culture, I think you felt using a buzz word like judging a culture would make me shake in my “do better” boots and maybe other intentions. But whatever your intention was I’m sorry but I will have to disappoint you, it didn’t hit the way you thought it would, because I wasn’t judging a culture. Aside from your passive aggressive comment, I think your forgot that your comment was a long one too but I guess mine is a rant and yours isn’t either because of your perceived superiority of yourself or because you love TTEOTM so much you are going to defend it against any perceived foe. So you are allowed to comment however much you want and however long the comment is but others who don’t share the same views can’t because theirs are a rant. It’s been noted. I never knew there was an award for reaching 80000comments but I am sure glad to contribute my quota in reaching it

You can disagree with someone’s opinion but insulting them (I’m not saying you did, because you didn’t) or telling people not to comment if they don’t like it, is not within your rights or anyone one else’s rights here. That being said, IMO, I clearly was very fair in my review, I said I liked the actors/actresses and that they did a fantastic job portraying the characters they were giving. I also said I liked the CGI and costumes (which I did as they were breathtaking and visually pleasing) but from the dream arc the plot fell completely apart and most of it didn’t make any sense (and I stand by that). If it was great for you then am glad you loved it but I didn’t and that is ok.

OH MY GOSH, I am so very sorry I offended your delicate sensibilities with my personal opinion on a public site that is meant for exactly what I did, post my personal experience after watching the series. I guess you’ve never heard the saying that ignorance is bliss. So I will take your suggestion and continue to blissfully bask in my lack of knowledge about the inner workings of CDramas and rave over every CDrama I watch even if I didn’t like it so that someone named Regards Ty won’t come under my comment and insult me hence not only changing my view about said dramas but also making my life that much better for it. Just incase your level of intelligence is limited to insulting people because they don’t have the same views as you do, I will spell it out for you in plain English, do read the above as sarcasm. ✌🏻
i thought this drama is just a big PILE OF SHIIT.....but i was wrong , its WORST than that. -__-
Lmao…. I actually really laughed at this comment. I have no interest in watching this drama because I refuse to watch anything with Allen Ren in it but I’m reading the comments and yours was just so funny.
Let me start by saying it pains me so very deeply to rate this drama lower than 10 because I love Bai Lu so much and I like Luo YunXi a lot and their acting here was as incredible as I thought it was going to be. Bai Lu played her characters something fierce. You could feel Ye XiWu’s inner battle between wanting to kill the chance of the devil lord resurrecting because of the horror she personally witnessed and falling in love with the Tantai Jin who isn’t yet the devil lord. The naivety that was Sang Jiu came through the screens and although Li SuSu was majorly relegated to the background during the final lifetime arc, BaiLu still managed to do her justice at the end part of the series when she finally shared the center stage. Kudos my girl. But I must confess Luo was indeed that star of this show. He shone so damn brightly. God damn. If you think about it he had easy/hard characters to work with, easy in the sense that you can picture what they are supposed to be and emote it, hard in the sense that you can give either too much or give too little but boy oh boy he gave just the right and perfect amount. I was sold on all the characters. The way he played all the characters is mighty impressive. MingYe indeed felt like the god of war, Tantai Jin in Cheng Kingdom felt like a maltreated hostage and Tantai Jin in the Jing Kingdom felt like an unbeatable king. Cang Jiu Min felt like a sect member, and then what can I say about him playing the mighty and devious devil lord that would do his performance justice, I don’t think I have enough words to describe the performance so I will go with absolute perfection. Why then isn’t this a perfect score for my rating?. The impressive acting displayed and the wonderful cast were seriously screwed over by their writers and I’m not sure I can convey enough how much the writers royally screwed the actors with this weak, useless and illogical plot. It was sooooooo painful to watch, the only thing that made me not drop the series was the combo of one of my fave actresses in Bai Lu, one of my fave CDrama couple in BaiLu & Luo YunXi, the magnificent setting/CGI, costumes and then the music. The CGI was top notch, the costumes were so beautiful, elegant and powerful, it was a visually pleasing experience The music was also so good too. Someone said that some of the outfits worn did not match the scene they were featured in. I kinda of agree with the person. Sometimes they felt overdressed for what the scene called for but I forgave them for that because the costumes were just that spectacular. Since the plot was rubbish anyways I might as well get my satisfaction from seeing beautiful costumes. But god damn that plot was a total mess. I know with fantasy dramas the possibilities can be endless and the writers have a sort of freedom to go outside the box but that’s not what happened here, I had zero problems with the three lives and all but that’s where any sense in the plot ended. The rest of the plot just felt like the writers just wrote whatever the hell they wanted and to hell with the viewers and just honestly without any regards to the intelligence of the viewers. The writers didn’t feel they had any accountability to the viewers and I for one reached and exceeded my tolerance level for the foolishness that the plot became and I started fast forwarding after the dream arc. Lemme tell you, you cannot make up the incredulous nonsense the writers tried feeding and selling to us and I wasn’t eating or buying their crap. The level of misunderstandings in this drama was just so freaking unrealistic and unbelievable. Most of the decisions and actions taking by the characters did not make any sense. I understand plot device and plot advancement and when it’s done well you can forgive it and suspend your disbelief but when it’s cheaply done, it just ends up playing on the intelligence of the viewers. My friends and family know how much i hate when anyone tries to play with my intelligence or lie to me. I tend to be super unforgiving about any and both of them. It’s really hard to describe how awful the plot was without going into details and I can’t because I doubt the space will be enough and I don’t care to make this review lengthier than it’s already going to be. We have someone who is a known liar and a manipulator (to be honest I could not understand the power that was giving to this character in the first 2 lifetimes, it didn’t make any sense) but when she speaks grown ass people, supposedly smart people at that just take her her word as gospel. The amount of times I posted “so ridic” in the VIKI comments section where I watched can make up a script. I’m not going to further waste my breath on the character that is Tian Huan and Ye BingChang, she was already giving way too much importance that I’m not willing to give her anymore. Although I do echo someone else who said they were glad that Sang Jiu gave her a solid ass whooping, although it wasn’t nearly enough in my book for what she deserved but alas we got what we got. The amount of blood they spat in this series was enough to start a drink business lemme tell you. Lol Gongye JiWu’s arrogance and delusions of grandeur did not evoke whatever the writers thought it would, I just found him super annoying useless. IMO he was basically more weak/useless after every lifetime. It’s unbelievable and he was intolerable to me. Even though he temporarily betrayed Tantai Jin, one of my fave characters is still Nian Baiyu, the way he was loyal and loved Tantai Jin unconditionally was something for the books. Another thing that I didn’t necessarily like and was not a fan of at all, was that they went a little too far with the satanic occultist vibes. Honestly a part of me regrets watching this but I know i would have watched it because of my love for the cast members I stated above. I live by a code, I might not care for something afterwards but if I make a decision to do something, I will stand by that decision. So ultimately I can’t really say I regret it. But I definitely won’t be rewatching it that’s for sure Rewatch value 2/10 Overall 7.5/10
This series was just so bad all around. It really felt like the lowest budget series I have ever watched. There was zero continuity in this drama. One of the leads got punched several times but we see him in the next scene on the same day and he has zero bruises. This “I am so poor and struggling so hard financially but won’t take your money because I love you or hate you” only happens in dramas and movies lemme tell you. IRL that shit won’t happen. You need money so badly to pay off debtors that are goons but you won’t agree to get paid doing a job you are already doing because you are doing it for love, that is such BS and they need to stop portraying this martyr act BS in dramas. It’s not like it’s free money or hand me downs. I don’t even know what the hell is wrong with free money as long as it was giving to you and not stolen. Most of the so called rich people do so many shady things to make their money and get good lawyers/accountants to evade taxes and pocket more money and they don’t feel an atom of shame, why then should anyone who is struggling financially with no fault of theirs feel ashamed to receive free financial help. I’m not struggling financially but best believe if anyone was to give me free money right now, I would very gladly take it and say thank you. IMO, There will never be anything wrong or awkward with receiving money legally and honorably through gifts or menial jobs especially when the money is severely needed. Back to the review, I actually really liked the main characters, they were very cute and i especially liked how Sangha was sassy and spunky, he always spoke his mind. I am so over how majority of one of the leads in BL dramas being extremely/painfully timid almost to the point of stupid and fearing their own shadows because the writers wants to portray them as being cute. I really wanted to rate this higher because of how cute the main leads were but I just cannot justify giving this anything more than 4/10. Rewatch Value 1/10 Overall Value 4/10

1). He had huge scars from Su Ying stabbing him in ep1 but all of a sudden the scars disappeared few episodes later

This perpetual CDrama plot is getting so damn old. Especially the level at which they make this female characters reach. It’s beyond ridiculous and unrealistic. Update @ep21
I am struggling so hard to continue this drama.
The production team for this drama really dropped the ball big time especially the editing department and script writers. So many inconsistencies and lack of continuity. The errors is the details was just way to much for me to ignore and tolerate. Marks appear and disappear in the same scene. So I will try not to judge most series with those lens if not most of them will definitely fall short. But this drama did rather ok in the chemistry and romance part compared to other highSchool/College dramas.

I never knew there was an award for reaching 80000comments but I am sure glad to contribute my quota in reaching it
That being said, IMO, I clearly was very fair in my review, I said I liked the actors/actresses and that they did a fantastic job portraying the characters they were giving. I also said I liked the CGI and costumes (which I did as they were breathtaking and visually pleasing) but from the dream arc the plot fell completely apart and most of it didn’t make any sense (and I stand by that).
If it was great for you then am glad you loved it but I didn’t and that is ok.
✌🏻
The CGI was top notch, the costumes were so beautiful, elegant and powerful, it was a visually pleasing experience
The music was also so good too.
Lol
Gongye JiWu’s arrogance and delusions of grandeur did not evoke whatever the writers thought it would, I just found him super annoying useless.
But I definitely won’t be rewatching it that’s for sure
