Grrr Arrrgghhh. So frustrating! This show had so much potential and obviously a decent budget, but who ever wrote and directed this dropped the ball. WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF THE DAD!?! That waaay to long of a scene to show that the father did to his ex wife what Jeng did to him, only to not have Pat empathize with Jeng?! If that was the case, then we could have skipped dad's return, he could have delivered the same line about pushing goodwill or whatever and said he needed to quit for himself, but that they didn't have to break up. That they needed to have a serious talk about boundries and communication. And WHY did Jeng hide using his money? All he had to say was part of him helping to fix the problems they were facing due to his scandal, he would replace the lost funds with his money. The end, I have faith in my team enough to put my own money up. The end. And thrn we could have had LOADS more scenes with Jeng and Pat, like we deserved after waiting 10 episodes. How do you make a romance series 12 episodes long and literally have maybe in total 2 episodes with ANY romance in it?!?! Other than the minor sort moments of Jeng kind of showing he maybe liked Pat, there has been zero romance between them. We got nothing with Jaab and Jane, so much so they didn't even show him in what was made to feel like a big reunion/make up episode, only to send him off for 2 years. Convenient since it looks like next episode take place 2 years in the future. Man, I am so sad at the wasted potential this show had. I have to say as many BLs have come out this year so far, they have mostly been huge disappointments. I cannot think of one that was outstanding, romantic, well written, directed, etc. When is the last time we had a ITSAY or TOATS? 😥
Edited to add, only the 8th Sense is in this category this year.
Not put off by the age gap, because they both presented as adults. One just full of life and optimism and the other, going through things. What I didn't enjoy was the lopsided love story. Other than Yechan obvious love for Yul, that was is as far as romance. I almost feel like we got more of a sense of romance from the flash back with the ex than with Yechan. They should have skipped the ex appareance and maybe addressed the age gap. Showned Yul struggle a little bit with his attraction to Yechan and how it might be considered inappropriate. That was we at least KNOW that Yul had feelings for Yechan. It almost felt like Yul only liked Yechan back because he was pursued so heavily, not because he had real feelings. Almost like he didn't want to hurt his new friends feelings, so why not. Another show that had potential, bit in this rush to put stuff out, they are not thinking through plot points. Like the Dad story line. It lumed over over the whole series and was done in a brief scene. I WAS happy to see Yul stand up to his dad. It's nice to see children of abusive and mentally manipulative parents stand up for themselves and their futures. Having said that, again I am not sure it was a plot point that was needed. He could have just gone to the country side because his grandfather passed and he was sad and reminscing, so he decided to stay. That being said, Yechan was a delight and all the side characters were funny/cute, so it wasn't a total drag, but definitely could have been better.
It was great until the grandma passed IMMEDIATELY as they had finally confessed. After that it was a series of Huh, WTF and But WHY!?!!? The song and confession wefe sweet, even though I cringed so hard until Boy Sompob started singing. I am not a big fan of super public confessions, especially when one of them has given zero indication of romantic feelings toward the other. If NanFah hadn't put that note on the plate, then threw it away, I would have never guessed he liked Phupha back. But the confession went well and it was sweet and romantic in the end. So we get like literally 5 seconds of an angst free moment and then Bam, grandma is dead, Nan is going to China, surprise that jerk who keeps hitting on your boyfriend is your brother aaannnnnd to end it off smoothly (NOT) we think Nan's plane has disappeared and he is probably dead. Say HUH?!?! WTF was that?!?! And in 2 episodes no less! Then that really crazy random scene where the brother gets into a street fight with 4 to 5 thugs with knives for some cute (sure he was cute, but wtf was he?) looks really young boy. What was the purpose of this scene? Then the cherry on top, the super awkward unneccesary NC scene. Ya'll have barely kissed but please include a random last minute out of place with the entire show scene made cringey with all the slow motion shots. Sigh, I am big fan, personally, of NC scenes being included in romances, because unless the couple is ace, then sex is apart of the expression of love. But its not always necessary, especially if it has NOTHING to do with the story. That last scene should have been them affirming their love for each other and then once Phu said, I'm going to unwrap my present, once he started unbuttoning the shirt, a fade away or camera panning shot would have sufficed to get the idea across. Then that the end. The Promise had promise but in then it went iff the rails. No clue what the special could be about, but hopefully some clarity as to who the baby Nan Fah is at least.
Soooo many feelings and they are all over the place like this episode! 1) We'll start with the good Man and Ben have great chemistry together and their loves scenes were well done. I loved seeing them together and it felt like they were in love. 2) That being said, we went from Pat rejecting Jeng and having no REAL idea what he feels for Jeng cause he was still dating Put not that long ago and didn't know how he felt then. One mini pep talk by the fabulous Chot (Bruce was once again the best in the whole show!) and off to buy a cake and then....cry at Jeng. Why, oh WHY did they have him crying for so long?! What was the reason? If they (the script writers) had JUST had Pat talk to Jeng in that kitchen about how he had always like Jeng, but didn't think he had a chance in hell cause Jeng is SOOOO hot as well as his boss, so that when Jeng confessed, it through him off, but that he likes Jeng back and doesn't want him to leave, that WHOLE scene would have been magical. Cause then Jeng could have delivered pretty much the same lines in English and it would have melted our hearts anf also made them getting together sooo quickly make a bit more sense then this episode did. I also needed more words from Jeng. Like, you really hurt me before, but I like you so much, can you be my boyfriend. THEN Pat can cry, softly, while Jeng holds him close and whipsered, ' We got together now.' THAT makes sense. Then when we ease into the passionate kissing in the kitchen, it would make better sense. They skipped sooo many romantic steps this episode, them going at it right away was soo jarring. Only saved by Man's top tier kissing. Ben tried to do those wimpy none kisses, but Man said, that bottom lip was made for kissing, we are doing this the right way! Speaking of kissing, what was with the angled kissing during the dream wedding sequence? Then we move on to Jeng and Pat being sooo unrealistic about how their relationship would impact them at work. It would have been so refreshing to see Jeng and Pat have an open and honest discussion about what they were feeling and how to deal with the rumors. Especially Jeng. He is too executive to not get how this would impact them both at work and to put some things in place to at least protect Pat. Like speaking to HR, at the minimum. Sidenote, the whole Pat not letting Jeng quit annoyed me. Jeng has at a minium, a whole ass resturant partnership/cgef job. Plus, he is rich, he will be okay, if he leaves. And finally, Jaab and Jane. The ruined a potentially amazing side couple story. Their whole arc since the kiss has plummotted to the depths of Hell. Where and WHY did Jaab get a whole partner from? Wasn't he head over heels for Jane at the beginning? He hasn't shown hardly any mourning over whatever the hell happened between him and Jane except to get drunk that one time. He should have been devasted tbat Jane left but instead he got a partner...huh?!?! The baby was still tiny, so its only been a few months. Jaab was ready to move on that quick...so why didn't he move on while Jane was in a relationship?!?! Gaaaah!! They had so much potential!! Wasted! This shis all over the place with great performances and scenes (Chot finally being able to be open about his relationship was sooo heartwarming and well acted by Bruce) to WTF!?! (The whole scene with the father acting like it was Jeng who had made Pat cry when really it was Pat being ridiculous and his own worst enemy. And next week looks more Ben ugly crying and I am not sure I can do it. Especially since Gaga hasn't added a skip 10 sec button...sigh.
Sigh...this show is trying to kill me. On the one hand, stellar acting by Man, cause when he burst into tears when he confessed his feeling to Jaab, I felt his pain. He loves some one, told them and they basically brushed him off, making it seem like he was being inappropriate with his feelings, when in fact he has been very careful. Then you have all the many, many MANY wasted scenes. What was the purpose of Pat's parents coming into the story at this point?! To tell Pat they were seperated?! But to what end, cause it certainly wasn't what it should have been used for, making Pat think about his problems with Jeng! Also, how long were they seperated for that Mom is remarried and dad has gained and lost a girlfriend, but Pat is just finding out?!?! That whole scene was confusing and pointless. The timeline is screwy, cause she was flat as a pancake last week and now she has given birth. Also, as a motber who has given birth naturally 4 times, that whole was written by someone who has never given birth. Cause sheesh! Whole scene irked me. And even then I wouldn't have minded it as a sort of break from Jeng and Pat only we didn't get enough of them to beed a break. That whole scene with Jane and Pat, huh!?! Why are bashing the brothers? One confessed his feelings out right. The other...well that was another storyline that made no sense, but I know he didn't do anything wrong. Yeah, he should have heard Jane out by now, but Jane should have also kept trying. Like confessing in a string of text messages or in a goodbye email how he had always liked Jaab, but since he was in a relationship already he felt like he couldn't hurt the other guy, at least not until they kissed and then he got some balls and broke up with other dude, so can him and Jaab pretty please be together. Then when they had that utterly pointless Jane, Put and Beam reaction to the birth (why the HELL would we care about 2 outta 3 of these dudes reactions to the birth, what was the point!?!? And even with Beam, it has never been made clear that he has feelings for Ae, so again, what was the point of showing his reaction!?!), they could have had Jaab running from the birth ,where instead of looking like he was either traumatized by watching the birth or in love with the baby (valid emotions but pointless plot wise), could have heard some wise words from the new parents (who should have said something about love being worth all the drama or something) and then he could have run after Jane while he sat on the bus, giving us JaabJane finally! But nope, just dudes looking in their phones saying congrats cause reasons. THEN Jeng sending a text, after he was asked not to, something that didn't make sense and again there was no point in sending. But now Jeng and Pat seem to be getting together FINALLY, next week and I am too invested. Sigh...it has its good points (Bruce showing his acting chops has been a true pleasure this series and I hope he gets lots more roles, cause he has proven he can do any kind of character), but man, they are trying to kill me.
Sidenote, Man doing pushups, grunting while shirtless should be illegal.
While I love the idea and honestly the excusion of the cross over of BB and TOATS, I am not fooled by the lack of Pat Pran that we got. I feel like if Ohm and Nanon could give what they did in these episodes despite their problems with each other, they could have given us enough for a full section. They still have great on screen chemistry and it was fun to see them back together. I cannot say their current situation is the actual reason they had far less screen time together, but then what was the reason. They could have cut out the SECOND time Tian was lost in the woods (that whole plotline frustrated me as cute as the little boy was, what was his purpose?) and had more of Pat and Pran after the play. Also could have skipped sister interrupting at the end yet again. They could have even had them stop cause they anticipated her knocking, then when nothing happened, jump each other. I mean even the audience of the play was like cut the foolishness and just kiss like you 'cannot live without each other'. Sigh...That being said, holy moly did Earth and Mix deliver. That last scene of a proposal/promise ring was beautifully written and acted. Mix always acts like he is just trying his hand at acting, but man, he is better than so many seasoned actors. My only complaint is that they have kissed better in Moonlight Chicken and Cupid's Last Wish, I was a little let down. But over all, I am happy with this ending of Our Skyy.
Side note, not that I need all the kisses to feel like its a good show. TOATS was amazing with its one small kiss at the end. But also, established long term couples kiss and it would be nice if BLs didn't add the 'you want to touch me, that make you a pervert' parts to shows. Its silly and kind of makes it seem like gay relationships are cool as long as they are sexless and not intimate. IJS
I don't mind the pacing but what is missing is the showing of feelings from our main leads. I barely get that Jeng likes Pat and other than the beginning when he said Jeng was handsome, we aren't seeing alot. And where there should be moments galore, we aren't seeing them. Like when Pat was (over) crying, and Jeng was holding him, it would have been a perfect moment to see either Jeng struggle to not rub Pat's head or hold him closer OR Jeng giving in a little to his feeling and holding Pat tightly. Then Pat would sink ing them big manly arms and when Put came toward them, the break apart guiltily. Or the drunk scene! When Jeng puts Pat on the bed, Chot excuses himself to the bathroom and Jeng takes that time to stare lovingly at Pat and maybe brush his hair off his forehead. Or the kiss scene, with the way Pat seemed to be feeling some type a way about that kiss, I was expecting them to show that when Pat kissed Put he saw Jeng instead and was now second guessing his feelings for Put. Just these small teaks to the already established story and it would feel like it was moving along. Now for Jaab and Jane, I feel like I am missing something. Second couple is definitely stealing the show again, cause between Jaab being a total smoke show and the swirling emotions in their scene, I am invested and need more. Why did Jane breakup with Mon? Is it because of Jaab, did Jane always have feeling for Jaab? Why was Jaab so angry? Shouldn't he be happy they broke up?! I need at least 20 minutes next week devoted to them two.
Welp, that went left...it went down hill so quickly after the amnesia storyline. I mean set aside tje whole uncomfortable tricks to help Bamee remember Kiew. The fact that they seriously had Kiew force himself on Bamee, even acknowledge it was attempted rape and then was like, my bad...huh?!? Every episode after the amnesia one was time fillers cause they ran out of script. Baiwan leading 2 boys on comtinuous was also grosd. Like make up your mind or at least tell them that you aren't in a place to be with anyone and want to be friends only, then stop taking their gifts and let them move on. Also...why was Franc forgiven?! They painted him as the villian, then out of now where he literally does the same pushy flirt move of his, but because it was fish, it was cute. Nevermind what he did to your friends and you, but yeah, fishies!! AND we didn't a resolution to her choice. Just a smirk and a shimmy to indicate she was having a blast stringing them along, so oh well. I was okay with Plawan and Moodaeng, only because they seemed similar in age AND they didn't do anything inappropriate, if if realistically, they would have been all allover each other. This show was so far from realistic that it was okay for 2 young men to act like they didn't have sex on the brain. Lastly, I didn't know how they were going to do it, but having them remeet while Kiew was older was...icky. I don't have a problem with May December relationships as long as they are both of legal age to consent and there is no weird power dynamic. So, fine, it was okay, technically. But its gross to think tjat Kiew kept the same feelings for Bamee while Bamee was an infant on up. He may have been in America, but I am sure he was update on Bamee's life....soo the ending was gross. For me, this may have been a worse ending than Love Area.
Just binged it. Man this had potential. Except like most Korean BLs it was too short, so it was rushed and therefore not as satisfying to watch. And some KBLs do a better job with the short time line. But this felt like someone who was used to making 15+ episide dramas wrote the script and they said, great now make ALL of that happen in eight 15 minute episodes. And doesn't help that some KBLs have stepped up their game so our expectations are higher now. I'm looking at you Semantic Error, TMS1&2 and my goodness the Eighth Sense! Even ChocoMilk was amazing and they had similar constraints. I need KBLs to get that they could really compete with Thai BLs if only they made their BLs as long as their regular dramas. I still like it. This kisses weren't horrible, the boys were cute. The crazy dude was super crazy (One of the reasons it was also bad, cause there was zero time to develop the story as to WHY he did what he did, like with out that, what was that tantrum he threw in the street!?!) I just wanted more time to make it make sense. Like the best friend, it seemed like he liked Seung Jun, but it wasn't ever said. I was hoping he would confess before they got back together, but instead he was like go get your man and here let me help. Making it seem like maybe he was just a really good best friend whose actions weren't from wanting to date Seaung Jun but more just wanting to protect bestie. But...it was so unclear. Also, what did Jae Hyun do for a living that he was so rich he could just go do whatever after he sold the business?! That coffee shop could have been that profitable, right?! I don't think its as bad as some reviews I see below, but definitely room for improvement.
I loved it. It was MSP cuteness sped up with some twists. I feel the chemistry better between Satang and Winny (although Winny still needs work on the romantic stuff, he was so expressionless during the bike scene) Got a great new song from Gemini and new merch, which is so cute. Plus more screen time relationship development with TiwPor! Yeah, cause I could feel the potential but we never really got anything. The fact that they are dating already in tbis is great. Also, how can ya'll be bored with serious, sexy Fourth! His natural flirtiness is making Gun go from cute and playful puppy to hot with a quickness. I didn't expect more from this because, 1) they told it would be a role reversal 2) limited time, we were NEVER gonna get much, even if they did a catch up scenario, so it would have been sad. 3) I pray this means we get a full season 2, like 2gether got, cause it definitely deserves one. Can you imagine Tinn and Gun in college!! The possibilites are endless!
Yay, finally some movement on Jeng and Pat. I liked this episode. I need on answers on dude side eyeing with longing(maybe?) Ae. I also couldn't quite tell if she was happy she was getting married. I think so, but it maybe this was all overwhelming so she was trying to process. Finding out you're pregnant when you are trying to get pregnant is a head trip. I cannot imagine what it is when you are not trying. I don't mind the side couples, but I definitely need just a bit more from Jeng and Pat. Although, I kind of dig how they are telling their story. It wouldn't make sense if the rushed into feelings and a relationship. With Jeng being not just his biss but the heir to the company, it probably doesn't even register as being possible to have a crush on Jeng (other to admit is is hella fine and smoking hot). And Jeng is catching feelings but is rightfully holding back because this could be an entire flustercluck. Speaking of holding themselves back. While I like Jaab and Jane, I really dislike the cheating. I really would have preferred Jaab resolving to put space between them after he was almost caught touching Jane in his sleep. If he had resolved to try to get over Jane by kind of being distant and maybe even getting serious about work, then when Jane realizes his friend has changed so much and he pushes to find out what is going on...and discover his own feelings and then break up with Mike...that would have been okay. Or it would have been great if after they kiss that they are so ashamed of themselves, they both resolve to get some space to reflect on their feelings. Jane goes home and admits what he did to Mike and accept what ever consequences come his way. And in the seperation period, Jane realizes how much he misses and needs Jaab and he breaks up with Mike and runs to Jaab. that could all be done in one episode with out Ae and Kanoon and we would have the series to see their relationship.
What a ride! I am glad that Nai Mae and Ah Jia got was coming to them. But what about Jan. She tried to kill Thian at least twice, when he literally did nothing but defend her son. She deserve more that that butt whooping in the end. Yes, I felt sort of bad for Nai Mae and Ah Jia, but man they were on one heck of a heck of a killing spree. I eill say it was light on the romance and super heavy on the drama, but it was worth the wild wild ride. If you can get past the repetitive dialogue, the crazy staring into the distance, the excessive crying scenes that go for just a bit too ming and a tad bit of overacting. Its soap opera at its finest, so I say go ahead and enjoy!
I still liking it because I am enjoying the story. I just need them to bump up the romance by like 10%. I lingering glance, a tried but true ol' stumble and fall into the arms bit. I can kind of tell Jeng likes Pat, but other than Pat thinking he was cute, nothing. And I think they were going for a jealous Pat with condo discoveries, but covered too much of it up with the ridiculous, I'm mad at you so I must your weakness bit. I think this show would greatly benefit from internal monologes, at least from the main leads. Orrrrr, open convos with besties would work too. When he was sitting in the resturant before the owner/Jeng's friend came over. When bestie mentioned how hot Jeng is was a perfect time for Pat to confess his less than employee feelings. Otherwise this definitely more office than romance.
Glory Be, Man is smoking hot. Almost distractingly so. Luckily the story and acting are also good, so I don't jist look at the pretty pretty man. Honestly the whole cast is stunning. Jaab/Saint are also very distracting, who ever decided to keep his hair down deserves a raise! I actually love all the side characters/friends. That whole game of everybody getting drunk with Jeng smirking scene was hilarious. This feels like it maybe going on the favorites of this year.
So much fluff and many kisses! And not stiff lipped awkward ones either. One thing I appreciate about Joong and Dunk is the intimacy they add to their roles. Dunk is still not as good an actor as Joong, and I am hoping their next series together has him improve a bit (his way of talking/drawing out words, can be annoying at times). But I appreciate that they both sell the idea that they are in love.
I want my time back! Man, that sucked. This up there with Physical Therapt, Bite Me. It would have just been just okay, if they had at least showed Ken going to the wedding, and Din is there, back with his old face, reclaiming his life since Lue is wanted for murder. Also, why is Lue wanted for murder. He was working with the police, yes? They literally couldn't have done any of that without him...and the doctor I never once paid attention to as a character but apparently he was there doing BIG things the whole time. This wanted to be so many things and even had the budget for it, but man, this sucked. Check Out was better.
What a fluffy ending and all the happiness Uea deserved! I love that they showed he finally cut ties with his mom but still supported his sister. Not too long ago, a Thai Bl would have the mom give a weak ass apology, Uea would forgive so that he didn't abandoned his sister. But THANK GOODNESS, we have people realizing that when family is THIS toxic, better to go NC than put up with it for 'family sake'. I kind of wish the proposal wasn't at work, but I get why they had it there, if only for a yummy Tutor intro. I, too, got the Check Out series vibes from the boat scene, and just kept praying they didn't do like Check out and completely bone in from of the captain of the boat/yacht. I mean the tub scene was mostly making out...maybe they took it to their room. Also, maybe the captain went to his room while they were in the tub cause it was obvious they anchored for the night. I am just hoping out loud! 🤣 Overall, a good series and now I can't wait for Middleman. I hope Yim's character gets go tone it down some for Middleman, cause as cute as he was in this, it would too much for 10 episodes.
Edited to add, only the 8th Sense is in this category this year.
That being said, Yechan was a delight and all the side characters were funny/cute, so it wasn't a total drag, but definitely could have been better.
The Promise had promise but in then it went iff the rails. No clue what the special could be about, but hopefully some clarity as to who the baby Nan Fah is at least.

Got a great new song from Gemini and new merch, which is so cute.
Overall, a good series and now I can't wait for Middleman. I hope Yim's character gets go tone it down some for Middleman, cause as cute as he was in this, it would too much for 10 episodes.
