Title House of Stars Spoiler
It was really good in some spots, especially the beginning. And anything including Wahu and Weha. No notes, they were a solid pairing and storyline. In fact everyone but the actor who played Pitch was great. And maybe he was great because someone wrote Pitch that way, but I don't think so...either way, that was the worst part for me. Any scene with Pitch in it. Throw the whole character away. And they must have cause he went missing for the last 2-3 episodes.
Acting was actually really good in this, out side of Pitch. Susie was a bitch, and it was weird to try to redeem her behavior as just protecting them from her experiences. Like her rules didn't mean anything if she didn't tell them why the were in place.
Outside of Weha and Wahu, my favorite character was Pawin. Sooo messy! And I am glad he didn't fall for Korn's shit. I really wished they had shown them casting for the show they were going to be on together. That is a season two I would watch.
Sun was majorly scary and Inneed a side story explaining what he did to Host and what he did to get in jail cause they never said and he looked like he ate people for funsies.
I was kind of hoping that Sin was in on it with Soh, but I wasn't mad at the ending.
I do need someone to explain why everyone seemed to be head over heels for Pitch. Cause I really don't get it.
Overall, goodish show. Good NC scenes, some good messy messy drama.
Sidenote: I need to know was this written by a man, because all these women screaming like they were getting murdered everytime they were mad was nuts. I don't know one person who behaves like that. It felt like a stereotypical hysterical woman symptom, and just...yuck.

At first I was like, nope, this is gonna be awful. A Cringefest 3000, if you will. The voice over and the sound effects were too much. But they dialed it down toward the end there, so it went from, gah, another bad Thai drama to okay, this was funny. I'll admit that Nuea/Pak's voice got on my nerves at first, but again, it grew on me or the over acting got to ed down just enough to make it watchable. I hope that the storyline of Lom deceiving Nuea doesn't last long and he lets Nuea in on the ' we have to get married for looks only' trope. I am also hoping they explain next episode WHY Yiwa and Lom have to get married. I am hoping for light and silly, with zero to minimal drama. It was nice to see Prai, Sky, Payu and Rain.

Title La Pluie Spoiler
Another show that had potential, then suddenly goes left. I wonder if they ( the BL industry) collective decided that to get away from trope endings, they were just going to start throwing stuff together for the last few episodes of every drama.
I really disliked what they did with the soulmates idea, especially (surprisingly) with the parents. While I liked that in the end they were still 'soulmates' and had no ill will toward one another, their reason for divorce bothers me as a mother and a wife. The mom was distant and cold through the whole show. She was kind of mean. The kids expressed that she was never there for them and only cared about work. As a mom, there isn't anything more important than your kids. And while I respect and believe that a woman should pursue and be allowed to excel at her job even as a mother, there has to be balance. Her husband just asked her for sometime. Not all her time, just like can you think of us sometimes and was like nope! Let's break up. Huh?!?! Then why bother getting married and having FOUR children!?! And her unwillingness to change for her husband and family doesn't bode well for her new marriage, because marriage is all about give and take and making adjustsments to ourselves for our partners as we both change over the years. To be soulmates and be like, naw, you and our kids aren't important enough for me to figure out how to balance work and family. That whole family scene was designed to make us like the mom or understand her and I really didn't. She was selfish. They should have picked a better reason. Or if they kept this reason, not try to make her out as this mom who was just misunderstood.
Then the whole Lomfon/Patt/Tai soulmates thing...why mess with it if you weren't going to explain why it happened? How did they get their hearing back? Why did Lomfon, who did not have hearing loss suddenly join the chat? Why was Lomfon always looking so weirdly at Tai the whole first half of the show, if he didn't remember that Tai was the one who rescued him?! And really, he fell in love with Tai...when? Was it the 40 second rescue where he barely saw his face? Or the brief moments he met him with his other crush, his brother? Huh?!
Also irked me that there were several unnecessarily long scenes, while we got little to nothing of Lomfon and Tien or a reunited PattTai. The parent/family scene was way too long. The Chiangmai (as beautiful as it is) tour was too long. What was the whole weird out of gas meet a couple including a whole flashback scene? Like the ONLY reason to include that is if they knew where Patt was and could point Tai in the right direction. Otherwise, what was the point?!? Last unnecessary scene was the after credit ending. I agree with Tein, seriously!
Thai Bls are disappointing as crap this year. I need less product better quality/writing/plot. While on paper, more BLs seems like a good idea, if they are like this, they can keep it.

Hehe! Sorry for the acronyms! Yes, those were the shows I was talking about! I only rewatch favorite parts. Then I'll go back if I haven't seen one in a while and rewatch. MSP was amazing! It is definitely in my top 10 BLs. But I love teen romances and musicals and they combined that really well. The OSTs were amazing as was the story. When you are in the mood for fluff, no drama romance, this is perfect.
Laughing at your take one Gun, cause yes at this point he has to be related to someone in the company. 🤣🤣

Love in the Air was great (especially their NC scene! Top Tier! 🤣) My favorite scene though is when Prai confronts Sky about his feelings. (Even though Peat didn't do a good job crying... but that's betwen you and me!)
I am almost done with La Pluie and then will move to House of Stars. I am also watching Hidden Agenda, cause I like JoongDunk's chemistry off screen as well as on. Well I hope you have a good week! Talk to you later!

🤣🤣 Yeah, I'll hold off on LOA until all the episodes are out. I am liking La Pluie so far. I heard that about Luminous Solutions. I put off watching it cause Golden Blood sucked and they have the same lead. I'll binge it when I get bored enough. Same with Love Syndrome. It looked like it would be a hot mess and from the reviews, I was right. It another one I am in no rush to watch. I'll just keep rewatching the good ones (still not over LITA, MSP, SE and CBIW)

Hey Lennie Hey! 🤣 I have been well thanks so much! I'll admit to being super disappointed this year in BLs. The last great one was the 8th Sense. That was everything! Right now, I am watching them all, but taking my time cause they have been like this drama. Good in the beginning and then dropping the ball! GMMTV is so far the strongest in dramas. But I miss the days of ITSAY or UWMA. Just epic dramas that are well acted, writte and produced. Getting ready to dive into La Pluie. I am sooo excited for the new Cherry Magic. I just saw the behind the scenes for Laws of Attraction, I just hope subtitles will be available. Hope you have a great weekend!

This last episode felt like they had filmed a bunch of stuff, then for some reason couldn't show it all, so they randomly cut a bunch a scenes out of the time jumping. Like why show 2 birthdays to show the passage of time, instead of like adding a Christmas with the whole gang. It almost felt like they couldn't pay the other actors anymore so they were left out the second half. I mean the mom came in and was gone in like less than a minute. What was that scene?!? I also did not like how the time skip was filmed. It wasn't til the second birthday celebration that I got they were now in a committed relationship. It went from, Do you still like me, to let's take it step by step to let me show off my boyfriend on the interwebs to lets move in together with no real clear transitions. This would have been better with a montage then the last scene would have been cuter. (I won't deny that it was still cute though)
Overall, I liked it. I mean getting to see Man really do anything was a treat, so it was worth it for that alone. (Side Note, during the tickling scenes, Man's laugh was so adorable!) And Chot and Ae stole the show for me, especially Chot! Bruce did an amazing job with this character and I really hope this role garners lots of work for him.
I feel like maybe they might do a special episode or a season two because so much was left out of that ending. Like the dad and his nefarious plans. Jaab and Jen. And Put was in this show so much for no reason at all. Once Pat rejected him that should have been the last we saw of him, so their continued use of Up made me feel like maybe we'll see more of him...maybe?!?
Anyway, it was a good show, but I was left wanting more. I will say I would not mind seeing Man and Ben again, they did have chemistry together.

100% agree with this assessment as usual Lenny. I never wanted Gaga to have a skip forward button more than during the karaoke scene.
I was upset about Jaab and Jen, the might as well not have included him.

Jeng, Chot and Ae were my favs as well. I could watch a whole series with just Ae and Chot! 🤣 It wasn't the worst and even had some great performances, but it missed some good opportunities to be a favorite. Hope all is well!

On Tin Tem Jai Jul 11, 2023
Title Tin Tem Jai Spoiler
I didn't dislike it at first as much as others, but then I watched the specials and figured out where this went so wrong. Run wanted to make a successful BL, so he followed several BL formulas. Get a cute boy that every one loves (Think Lookchup from La Cuisine or Any character Bas plays) but forgot to give a touch a sass and instead went juvenile. Then his character was supposed to be tough and mean (think Tinn from LBC or Arthit from SOTUS) only he forgot to make his character secretly loveable/vulnerable. AND he forgot the most important part, at least letting the AUDIENCE know he liked the other ML, even if he hid it from Tin. He tried throwing in some girls, and he went with plucky bestie girlfriend who dresses differently from convention, is always by her friends sides, but has her own shit to deal with (think Yiwaa from TWM and even the other girl from TWM). He skipped the toxic ex-girlfriend cause he understood us BLs fans were sick of it. He threw a trans character to keep up with the times, and honestly if that storyline had been remotely fleshed and developed, it would have been a welcome change, but alas, nope! Of course he sort of succeeded in the time honored tradition of the side couple being just as good if not better than the ML, cause I was waay more interested in them...despite literally nothing but a decent NC scene happening between them. I feel like he was trying to give us WinTeam moments from UWMA in hopes of getting a Between Us like sequel.
It felt like the script was taken from scraps of paper written on in a cafe, with ideas of what he wanted his BL to be based on all the BLs that ever were, especially the successful ones. Look at the specials, even those were constructed like Mame does her special episodes. No real plots/story just a vacation with loads of NC scenes. Only with Mame, you liked the characters and the OG story, so you come back just to see how the characters are and to see ususally even sexier NC scenes than the original show. But I did not like one of these characters.

Sidenote: what was up with all the extra little girls in this show?! Something felt so off about their inclusion in almost every episode. I want to believe that it was because in most BLs if kids are involved its a little boy who is super cute. But the sheer amount was disconcerting. They even had that SUPER weird scene where Pao and Bai's mom maybe kidnapped a little girl in her rush to see her husband after he fainted and hit his head. Like whose kid was that, why did she have her, and WTF was the point of her character even doing that. Like huh!?
Anyway, I feel bad for Run, he's been in so many BLs and hasn't really found his place yet. It almost wasn't a bad idea either. It had potential. But really, I wish someone would stop folks from producing this level of crap. Like can several people outside the friend group real the script first and just see if there is anything missing before they green light this kind of stuff. Sheesh!

On Tin Tem Jai Special Jul 11, 2023
Title Tin Tem Jai Special Spoiler
I think I know what went wrong. I think Run was trying to copy famous BL series and failed miserably. Take these special episodes. I think he was like, let me do what Mame does and make a special that doesn't have any real story, just a trip out of town, and then the characters will have have lots of sex we amp up cause its 'special'. Only...Mame makes characters you love, and plot lines that make sense, has and actually tells a story in her BLs, so when she does a special with no real story, who cares cause its characters you love having hot sex. Also, as much as I complain about the crew (sound and camera) who work for Mame (consent poor sound quality and ackwardly shot angles that show tops of heads) The underwear in the tub was top tier clownery. Not to mention the riding scene wear they were sorta kinda of moving...all those NC scenes were like no involved had ever had sex before. And if the purpose of these specials was to give us NC scenes they couldn't or didn't put in the original, well, they could have just not. It was just a bunch of weird scenes that had no reason. Like the dude hitting on Tin who stood with his boyfriend the whole time. And Park letting dude touch Tin, but storming off some how let him know that Tin was off limits...huh!?!?!
Pao and Kana were sort of maybe cute, except they still NEVER clarified the relationship and again, the in the tub scene was just weird.
! Throw the whole show away.
That concert might have been the stupidest thing I ever skipped through. Man, I need my time back

Grrr Arrrgghhh. So frustrating! This show had so much potential and obviously a decent budget, but who ever wrote and directed this dropped the ball. WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF THE DAD!?! That waaay to long of a scene to show that the father did to his ex wife what Jeng did to him, only to not have Pat empathize with Jeng?! If that was the case, then we could have skipped dad's return, he could have delivered the same line about pushing goodwill or whatever and said he needed to quit for himself, but that they didn't have to break up. That they needed to have a serious talk about boundries and communication. And WHY did Jeng hide using his money? All he had to say was part of him helping to fix the problems they were facing due to his scandal, he would replace the lost funds with his money. The end, I have faith in my team enough to put my own money up. The end. And thrn we could have had LOADS more scenes with Jeng and Pat, like we deserved after waiting 10 episodes. How do you make a romance series 12 episodes long and literally have maybe in total 2 episodes with ANY romance in it?!?! Other than the minor sort moments of Jeng kind of showing he maybe liked Pat, there has been zero romance between them. We got nothing with Jaab and Jane, so much so they didn't even show him in what was made to feel like a big reunion/make up episode, only to send him off for 2 years. Convenient since it looks like next episode take place 2 years in the future. Man, I am so sad at the wasted potential this show had. I have to say as many BLs have come out this year so far, they have mostly been huge disappointments. I cannot think of one that was outstanding, romantic, well written, directed, etc. When is the last time we had a ITSAY or TOATS? 😥

Edited to add, only the 8th Sense is in this category this year.

Not put off by the age gap, because they both presented as adults. One just full of life and optimism and the other, going through things. What I didn't enjoy was the lopsided love story. Other than Yechan obvious love for Yul, that was is as far as romance. I almost feel like we got more of a sense of romance from the flash back with the ex than with Yechan. They should have skipped the ex appareance and maybe addressed the age gap. Showned Yul struggle a little bit with his attraction to Yechan and how it might be considered inappropriate. That was we at least KNOW that Yul had feelings for Yechan. It almost felt like Yul only liked Yechan back because he was pursued so heavily, not because he had real feelings. Almost like he didn't want to hurt his new friends feelings, so why not. Another show that had potential, bit in this rush to put stuff out, they are not thinking through plot points. Like the Dad story line. It lumed over over the whole series and was done in a brief scene. I WAS happy to see Yul stand up to his dad. It's nice to see children of abusive and mentally manipulative parents stand up for themselves and their futures. Having said that, again I am not sure it was a plot point that was needed. He could have just gone to the country side because his grandfather passed and he was sad and reminscing, so he decided to stay.
That being said, Yechan was a delight and all the side characters were funny/cute, so it wasn't a total drag, but definitely could have been better.

It was great until the grandma passed IMMEDIATELY as they had finally confessed. After that it was a series of Huh, WTF and But WHY!?!!? The song and confession wefe sweet, even though I cringed so hard until Boy Sompob started singing. I am not a big fan of super public confessions, especially when one of them has given zero indication of romantic feelings toward the other. If NanFah hadn't put that note on the plate, then threw it away, I would have never guessed he liked Phupha back. But the confession went well and it was sweet and romantic in the end. So we get like literally 5 seconds of an angst free moment and then Bam, grandma is dead, Nan is going to China, surprise that jerk who keeps hitting on your boyfriend is your brother aaannnnnd to end it off smoothly (NOT) we think Nan's plane has disappeared and he is probably dead. Say HUH?!?! WTF was that?!?! And in 2 episodes no less! Then that really crazy random scene where the brother gets into a street fight with 4 to 5 thugs with knives for some cute (sure he was cute, but wtf was he?) looks really young boy. What was the purpose of this scene? Then the cherry on top, the super awkward unneccesary NC scene. Ya'll have barely kissed but please include a random last minute out of place with the entire show scene made cringey with all the slow motion shots. Sigh, I am big fan, personally, of NC scenes being included in romances, because unless the couple is ace, then sex is apart of the expression of love. But its not always necessary, especially if it has NOTHING to do with the story. That last scene should have been them affirming their love for each other and then once Phu said, I'm going to unwrap my present, once he started unbuttoning the shirt, a fade away or camera panning shot would have sufficed to get the idea across. Then that the end.
The Promise had promise but in then it went iff the rails. No clue what the special could be about, but hopefully some clarity as to who the baby Nan Fah is at least.

Soooo many feelings and they are all over the place like this episode!
1) We'll start with the good Man and Ben have great chemistry together and their loves scenes were well done. I loved seeing them together and it felt like they were in love.
2) That being said, we went from Pat rejecting Jeng and having no REAL idea what he feels for Jeng cause he was still dating Put not that long ago and didn't know how he felt then. One mini pep talk by the fabulous Chot (Bruce was once again the best in the whole show!) and off to buy a cake and then....cry at Jeng. Why, oh WHY did they have him crying for so long?! What was the reason? If they (the script writers) had JUST had Pat talk to Jeng in that kitchen about how he had always like Jeng, but didn't think he had a chance in hell cause Jeng is SOOOO hot as well as his boss, so that when Jeng confessed, it through him off, but that he likes Jeng back and doesn't want him to leave, that WHOLE scene would have been magical. Cause then Jeng could have delivered pretty much the same lines in English and it would have melted our hearts anf also made them getting together sooo quickly make a bit more sense then this episode did. I also needed more words from Jeng. Like, you really hurt me before, but I like you so much, can you be my boyfriend. THEN Pat can cry, softly, while Jeng holds him close and whipsered, ' We got together now.' THAT makes sense. Then when we ease into the passionate kissing in the kitchen, it would make better sense. They skipped sooo many romantic steps this episode, them going at it right away was soo jarring. Only saved by Man's top tier kissing. Ben tried to do those wimpy none kisses, but Man said, that bottom lip was made for kissing, we are doing this the right way!
Speaking of kissing, what was with the angled kissing during the dream wedding sequence?
Then we move on to Jeng and Pat being sooo unrealistic about how their relationship would impact them at work. It would have been so refreshing to see Jeng and Pat have an open and honest discussion about what they were feeling and how to deal with the rumors. Especially Jeng. He is too executive to not get how this would impact them both at work and to put some things in place to at least protect Pat. Like speaking to HR, at the minimum. Sidenote, the whole Pat not letting Jeng quit annoyed me. Jeng has at a minium, a whole ass resturant partnership/cgef job. Plus, he is rich, he will be okay, if he leaves.
And finally, Jaab and Jane. The ruined a potentially amazing side couple story. Their whole arc since the kiss has plummotted to the depths of Hell. Where and WHY did Jaab get a whole partner from? Wasn't he head over heels for Jane at the beginning? He hasn't shown hardly any mourning over whatever the hell happened between him and Jane except to get drunk that one time. He should have been devasted tbat Jane left but instead he got a partner...huh?!?! The baby was still tiny, so its only been a few months. Jaab was ready to move on that quick...so why didn't he move on while Jane was in a relationship?!?! Gaaaah!! They had so much potential!! Wasted!
This shis all over the place with great performances and scenes (Chot finally being able to be open about his relationship was sooo heartwarming and well acted by Bruce) to WTF!?! (The whole scene with the father acting like it was Jeng who had made Pat cry when really it was Pat being ridiculous and his own worst enemy. And next week looks more Ben ugly crying and I am not sure I can do it. Especially since Gaga hasn't added a skip 10 sec button...sigh.
