I keep trying to watch this because I enjoy watching the leads. But it is so slow and I get distracted. Your review…
Hi! It's because when she woke up after he rescued her, she remembered 3 years ago that she was in the carriage and about to be married to a man named Cui Jiu. She heard Dr. Zhao called Cui Xing Zhou as Cui Jiu ("jiu" means 9 and he is the 9th child), so she thought he was her husband.
So I finished this drama today, and I think it ended at more or less the right place, and it definitely indicates a part 2. I hope they release it this year or early 2025.
I've watched until episode 15 of this drama, and so far, it's good. It's interesting to watch the plot unfold, along with the scheming and political intrigue. I like the music! The color scheme is generally dark; I need to get used to the dark throne room/conference room (where they discuss state affairs), as it's not common in period C-dramas (it reminds me of a medieval setting). I also like that they show behind the scenes clips in the ending theme song. I'm eager to finish this, but at the same time, "dreading" to finish it because I know there's a part 2, and that this was originally filmed as one drama. I hope they ended part 1 in the right place!
This is a modern time travel romance drama with a twist. I like how it's executed. The flow of the story is smooth; it's not hard to follow and the events make sense overall (considering the time travel theme). Yang Xu Wen did a good job portraying 2 versions of He Zheng Yu. They're the same, but also different. I like them both. Chen Jia Lan, portrayed by Julia Xiang, is generally a likable character - she is spunky, loyal, and resourceful. There were just some moments in the second half when I got annoyed with some of the things she did. As for the ending, I'm satisfied with how it's done. So this is a good drama to watch, especially if you like time travel stories.
Agree with you, I like Pei Xi Jun too. She may not be very likable at the start, but she gets better as the story…
You're welcome! Like you, I like LLF and PXJ's love story more, though it's the more subdued and not showy kind (imo they did it just right). It's not the main focus of the drama anyway, but nice to have in the story.

Yes I have finished S2, and it's a very good sequel, imo 😊. Su Wu Ming and Chu Ying Tao's love line in the drama is Ok with me (not a fan, but it's Ok). I haven't written a review (I may or may not), but I shared some of my thoughts here: https://kisskh.at/748895-strange-tales-of-tang-dynasty-season-2#comment-18495631
Finished episode 10.Since they left Chang'an, scenes have been less dark. 🙂 I like it when I can see what's…
Agree with you, I like Pei Xi Jun too. She may not be very likable at the start, but she gets better as the story progresses, and she became an important part of their group.
Was prepared to hate the fl looking at the comments but she was literally not annoying at all. She may have whined…
Pei Xi Jun developed a lot as the drama moves along, and I have grown to like her character 😊. She's smart and charming, and made important contributions in many of the cases. Sometimes, one has to continue watching to understand and appreciate a character more.
I finally finished this today. I even watched the extra episodes and behind the scenes clips. Who knew they were…
I also watched the extra episodes and behind the scenes clips in iQIYI. I hope they upload more bts clips. Or maybe I'll have to search in YouTube 😊.
I finished SToTD 2 yesterday, and it's a very good series, love it! The overarching story and cases are well-written, and the music and production quality are good. I also like the excellent fight scenes, the cast's acting (from main to supporting) and the continually growing dynamics and camaraderie of the main characters - Lu Ling Feng, Su Wu Ming, Pei Xi Jun, Fei Ji Shi, Chu Ying Tao, and eventually, Xue Huan (who rejoined the team later).
I'm looking forward to season 3, which I hope would be shown next year 2025, or at the latest, in 2026. Aside from more interesting cases and the political maneuverings/gripping main story, I also hope they would further develop the 2 main couples' relationship.
Final verdict: SToTD S2 is a very good sequel and I highly recommend it. For those who haven't watched both seasons and thinking of diving into S2, I suggest to watch S1 first before S2, to get more context and to know more about the characters and their backgrounds.
"Murder on the Orient Express" is also what I thought of as I finished "The Letter from Shangxian Hall".
I haven't watched MLC. As to your question, it wasn't clearly explained, but that could be a reason why he admitted to it. Or could it be possible that he really did have a part in the crime?
Wang Chu Ran looks really good in costume dramas!
