Not trying to start anything here, I totally respect your opinion, to each and their own. And as much as you had…
I like Allen Fang and the trailer looked promising, so I tried to watch this. But I didn't even finish the first episode, because the hasty identity switch didn't make sense to me, and I couldn't get into the story after that. So I agree with your points on that one. It's like they just wanted to make the switch as quickly as possible and get on with the rest of the story. Too bad, because I wanted to enjoy it (Maybe, just maybe, I might try again some other time). And thanks for sharing your thoughts on Love of Nirvana. I haven't watched it, but will consider it.
This drama caught my interest from the first episode. I've watched until episode 17, and it's actually good. I like the ML and FL's characters, and they have great chemistry. So far, the pacing of the story is good, and the fight scenes are well done. I'm looking forward to the story's progress in the next episodes.
Thanks for this short and spoiler-free review 😊! I'm watching this drama now, and just like you, it grabbed my interest from the 1st episode. I hope it would be sustained!
Just finished this. It is indeed the longest day in Chang'an. Some parts are exciting and keeps you guessing and anticipating the next scenes, some parts are touching, and there are some parts that are slow and dragged on. Pretty good acting by the cast and I like the soundtrack; it fits the mood of the drama. Overall, a good mystery/political drama, but would have been better if the pacing is faster in the slow scenes and some annoying characters have less airtime.
Another Zhang Wan Yi drama! I like him in "Are You the One", and I'm glad I saw the trailer for "The Rise of Ning" in YouTube. Have not read the novel, but it looks interesting based on the trailer. I have added it to my watchlist!
I couldn’t stop laughing while watching this!! It’s slow, but you can’t fast forward it, because you would…
So agree with you! It's true, he liked playing house with her. I never fast forwarded, in fact, I did the opposite (rewound/rewinded) in some scenes 😄.
One of the drama's funny scenes is in episode 26. In the bookstore, Sa Shi Zhuan volumes 1 and 2 were mentioned, where volume 2 talks about Su Wu Ming and Lu Ling Feng's exploits in defeating Sa Shi. LLF was pleased to hear this, but the store owner broke the bubble when he said most people read volume 1 and not 2 😄. LLF's reaction was funny!
Also, I'm glad Xue Huan came back in time for the last case. I like his interactions with Pei Xi Jun and Lu Ling Feng in season 1.
