Finished episode 7, and it gets more and more interesting! Chang Yu Qing is an intriguing character. I'm looking forward to more of his scenes, whether it's with the FL or not π. The pacing is good, not slow and dragging. Hope they keep this up until the end.
I'm 2 episodes in and the story's interesting so far. The role of Ah Mai suits Zhang Tian Ai, I like how she's portraying her at this point.
So the King of An in AJTL is the emperor here, and Xia Jiang from NIF is the prime minister. The emperor looks so unkempt in most scenes in these 2 eps π.
I finished Under the Power yesterday. It's my first time to watch the main leads, Allen Ren and Seven Tan, in a drama, and they are amazing! It's so much fun to watch them here. IMO they carried the drama in large part, and they have great chemistry. Seven Tan is such a revelation to me, and now I understand why she is well liked and has many projects. She is a very good actress.
Will definitely watch more of Allen Ren and Seven Tan's dramas now π.
I finished "Destined" a few weeks ago. This drama's themes include romance, familial love, friendship, love for the people, burden to help the country, and loyalty. I laughed at the funny and light-hearted moments, cried at the emotional scenes, and celebrated with them in their victories. There is also some political intrigue, strategizing and battle scenes.
Bai Jing Tingβs portrayal of Gu Jiu Si is spot on! His comedic timing is gold, and he can also carry the heavy scenes. Song Yi also gave a good performance as Liu Yu Ru. Her LYR is gentle yet tough, savvy yet kind, loving yet firm. Their chemistry is natural and doesnβt feel forced; hence, the growth of their characters and their relationship flow organically.
The supporting cast is commendable too, and those that stand out to me are Ray Chang as Zhou Ye, Zhang Hao Wei as Ye Shi An, and Li Xin Ze as Shen Ming. Together, they are like the three musketeers. I also like Zhao Yuan Yuan as Qin Wan Zhi, the badass female warrior and friend of LYR.
Despite some unanswered questions (things not clearly explained in the drama), I like this drama and enjoyed watching it. The story is balanced and well-paced, and the characters are generally well-written, so I would recommend it! π
Great review! I always appreciate someone who can see the beauty of my favorite drama. The only thing I would…
Thanks for the comment! Appreciate your inputs. I agree with you that Gu Jiu Si is a good person from the start, and he grew to become a great person not entirely because of the FL's influence (though she played a part - NOTE: I think I would add "partly" in that section of my review). And I didn't mention this explicitly in my review, but I agree that Yu Ru marrying Jiu Su helped her change for the better. They mutually help and complement each other. Also, as I wrote above, I like how their relationship developed and their love for each other blossomed throughout the drama. They have a healthy relationship π. Anyway, thanks for reading my review!
I watched a few minutes of their interactions in Hello Saturday, and I'm already feeling their chemistry π. I might wait for more epsiodes to air though, to avoid much waiting time, while finishing the ones that I'm watching now π.
Why oh why it isn't available on WeTv international app?!? (It's a drama with a popular cast for God's sake!!)…
Hi! I'm subscribed to WeTV and it's there, I even reserved it ahead of time. 5 episodes are available, and there are teasers until ep 9. Maybe you can refresh and check again. From what I know, there is no geo-restriction in WeTV (unlike iQiyi and Viu), but I maybe wrong.
I finished Rattan a few weeks ago. The premise is interesting, I like the mystery, the unique/uncommon story line, good development of the plot, characters, and their relationships. Since this is a fantasy drama, some suspension of disbelief is required. I like Jing Tian and Vin Zhang's portrayal of Si Teng and Qin Fang, respectively; they have good chemistry. The supporting cast did well too, especially Zhang Yi Chi as Yan Fu Ru. The cinematography is amazing and the costumes are lovely, especially Jing Tian's clothes!
Nevertheless, there are some cons. There were some unanswered questions, an inconsistency in one of the time gaps, and I was not as fully immersed in the last 5 or 6 episodes as compared to the first three-fourths of the drama, where most of the untangling of the mysteries happened. Even so, itβs still a good and enjoyable watch for me.
