She's an actress, she acted all kind and nice but she's an obsessive person. Idk if the writer will modify her chatacter here, but she's a snake.

The one person who will be on Jeong Woo's side is Ha Seol. She will be the one who will be there for ML and help persuading Su Oh to come forward as a witness of both murders while Na Gyeom keep trying to make ML to leave the village and move on, because she's afraid ML will find out her involvement. She never try to understand ML's need to find out the truth and pursuing justice for his dead friends. Ha Seol instead will.help ML along.the way.

And she probably the one who sent the message to the doctor. As she witnessed the murder of Da Eun.

No she isn't Da Eun sister. She indeed just happened to come to that village and befriended Su Oh even before ML got out of prison. He didn't even know about Jeong Woo until he went to the restaurant to meet his mother. She's just a curious cat and she genuinely care for her friend Su Oh and actually wanted to help him and Jeong Woo as well.

In the novel her character was sent there by her mother to live with his father and step-mom if I remember it right. Then she just yes get involved by accident out of her curiousity. Da Eun didn't have a sister, she lived with her grandma.

They didn't just do that to him, but also to his family. Min Su's father steal ML's mom restaurant by buyinhg it a very low price and acted like they are good by accepting the mother to work as a cook there. They watched as she's been gaslighted and tormented on daily basis by that drunkard father. And still hating on ML for that too. ML's father also didn't die a natural death. ML just didn't know that. Those despicable parents and their children! Except Geun Oh and Su Oh, they basically tormented with guilt.

True, I feel for ZQL, he never knew that among the Zhang he actually had a true friend in Zhang Jiuri. He is the only want to wanted ZQL to have his memory back. Who faithfully waiting for him, leaving him marks, and desperate for his comeback.
It's really indeed heart wrenching.

Since this happened right after the Ultimate note in timeline (like 5 years after, while ZQL still inside the bronze door), the only one clan that had been hiding behind every villain is the Wang clan.

In the novel, Zhang Haixing tried to kill Wuxie and Fatty, when they enter another bronze door in snowy mountain to slain King Yama/Night King. Wuxie then realised he was again being used, as she needed his qilin blood to draw Knight King away and to steal something from there (something it guard, probably another bronze bell or something else related to either immortality or key to lead to the ultimate). When she tried to kill Wuxie and bleed him, she told Wuxie that she's not a Zhang, and told him that not everyone with two long fingers are a Zhang. And that the mysterious Zhang faction would never helped him (which in the drama already shown they helped ZQL for the last time and no more). The only family who had been infliltrating or stealing Zhanh families techniques and imitating the Zhangs only the Wang Clan.

So the faction Zhang Nian mentioned to Zhang Haike is probably the Wangs who offered to make a deal. Zhang Jiuri the only one refused that, and Zhang Haike and his sister accepted that but then Zhang Haike probably had a second thought, while her sister probably wanting to go on. As to why they did that, probably they wanted to know what Ultimate is. They wanted to know what the real secrets the main Zhang family had been keeping and guarding for so long. We don't know because the novel ended without completion.

Zhang Haike hated the main branch, the pure blooded Zhang for their arrogance and cold-bloodedness. Still ZQL is different and his patriarch and friend. No matter what he still a Zhang and his loyalty lies with his clan. And his sister we don't really know. The real Haixing probably held hostage by the Wang and the one with Haike was a Wang in disguise to force Haike to work with them.

But she definitely will try to kill Wuxie and Fatty and Feng later on.

Not just for the Zhang, even more so he's kinda like Wuxie's personal messiah 😅

ZQL age frozen in time the day he bacame Patriarch. He didn't age ever since while his friends age though slowly after being cured from that illness. Not to mention ZQL though not pure Zhang (as his mother wasn't from Zhang clan), he has pure qilin blood and when the main family deceived the outer branches family about ZQL as the immortal baby (they took away the actual baby who died in the box and put ZQL inside it) something in the box might cause him to have a pure qilin blood and him stop aging at certain age. Well it's just my opinion though 😊

He was devastated by the fact that Xiao Ge lost his memories of them after he went to Zhang Tower to become patriarch and saved the Zhangs from their illness. He just wanted ZQL to remember their promise right affer they get out of the tomb city, that they are a team. And he thought ZQL will be back and remember him. He wanted to properly had ZQL as friend, who share burden and even wanted to have proper fight with ZQL too, to show he's worthy a friend. Remember how they treated ZQL badly early on, never even address him by his name, but namecalling him instead, looking down on him, guarding against him, but he saved them and came back flr them and more skilled than them all.

No, they modified the story. There was no Zhang Jiuri and Zhang Nian in the novel. The old friends who went out to the trial that was named only Zhang Haike and Zhang Qilin who then meet with another 3 boys from the Zhangs and travel together to finish their quest.

It should be wang pang zi, panzi is another character from wu xie's family. I think Pangzi they modified the story, and since each season appeared to be stand alone experience when new season started doesn't necessarily picking up where it left off in other season. And also the order of the series also not continuous (maybe different produxtion?). Like Ultimate Note came after Tomb of the Sea. And then Sound of Providence came before Tibetan Sea Flower.
Because the order should be:
Ultimate Note
Tiberan Sea Flower
Tomb of the Sea
10 Years later?
Restart (Sound of providence 1&2)

I think affer Ultimate, Pangzi left to stau in rain village? While Wuxie went back to take care his store and his uncle's store, while waitinh for the 10 years time to pick upZQL from the bronze door.

In this one, Wuxie called Pangzi for help, and he came. And in this one, it happened like 5 years after Ultimate, ZQL still inside the bronze door. Something came up, as Zhangs (Haike's branch, need Qilin blood to enter another bronze door to get something from inside, not clear who they actuallt work for) and to convince Wu Xje to help them, Haike shared his memories of ZQL that he was indeed ZQL old friend. Those memories help Wuxie to understand what happened with ZQL memories and why it happened, and also gets to understand how ZQL must have felt, a lonely long life, his burden and his struggle to keep finding out his past and his history of existence because as time progress his started to ask his own existence and what connect him to this world is wuxie.
And along the way wuxie also learned about ZQL mission as patriatch.

Too bad we don't get to see him in this season, Wu Xie's fan boy indeed 😂

That's also what my point, sometimes our opinion can be very subjective based on our liking or not, our emotional response, etc, which I must admit I do too sometimes reacting the same at times but exactly because of that I learn to be better.

Like you, I think Rise of the Phoenix deserve decent rating, it's a great drama. Imho the rating didn't do it a justice.

I've wacthed dramas with impressive rating just to be disappointed, and dramas with such disappointing rating to be surprised.

You gotta watch something for yourself and made your own judgment, instead of looking at the rating first 😉

Yes I liked that coroner's story because it's really sad what happened to him, and how the story is wrapped up nicely.

And yesss Chicken Fed is my fave character, though his role mostly for the comical purpose, but he made everyone on equal stand with each other.

And thank you for confirming that, now I can watch it without windering about those two characters because they were just adressed as crown prince and princess. Or maybe I missed it on first season about their identities.

Love both season, looking fwd for season 3. In comparison s2 is better than s1 as now they have become a team work of 5 instead of 2 MLs teaming up. Nice to see 2 FL are more involved in cases actively, and what make this great is the comradeship among them. And no cringe romance either, typical in historical drama with over-exagerrating characters. Every character is quite realistic with their strength and shortcoming. None is too dominant or overshadowing the other, more like complementary to each other and that is rally nice.

I particularly like the episodes of the coroner's death, we get a glimpse (idk if it's real or not) about coroner's job in that era and how they are perceived by society. I really like the coroner's mom whenever she proclaimed her coming to perform post-mortem examination.

But wonder the crown prince then emperor here, is he Li Longji (Emperor Xuanzong)? And the grand princess is Princess Taiping? And Lu Ling Feng though the writer modified his character (since this is fictional) is based on Xue Chongjian - the only son of Princess Taiping who was exempted from death penalty by emperor Xuanzong because he often gave counsel for his mother to not retatining power and control to overshadowing the emperor, and he was bestowed surname Li (based on wiki). I wonder because we know for sure who the emperor and empress with Di Renjie. I just wonder because I really like historical setting dramas (C-dramas, K-dramas and J-dramas), always fascinating for me because it arises my curiousity about the real historical figures and their eras. And China history is surely super rich in that regard and it never fails to amaze me.

Really kudos to all the wonderful casts and their performances.

Why be sad, this is not a bromance drama, not even a romance though there are form of relationship they are just the elements that give pretext to how things developed. This is crime thriller drama. The bromance if we could called it that, was broken friendship, ML had a good friendship with all his highscool friends here. And with the derective though they started off the wrong foot, they'll get to know and understand each other eventually while solving the case. Imho the friendship even romance that started with misunderstanding mistrust and trials where they learn to know, understand and trust each other always produce the best of friendship and romance there is. I doesn't have to be bromance, friendship and brotherhood is the right term for it.

Well except you are looking for a specific kind of bromance then I don't think you'll find it here.

I forgot in which ep, in passing to her manager/assistant she called Jeong Woo her boyfriend. And her new project drama/movie "snowhite must die" is the namesake of the drama, so she's indeed played quite a sinister role for sure.
