Perhaps, the actress who portrayed his mother is a better actress? His father seems like a quiet guy, so even if he does like Jing Jing alot, he kept it to himself. And, as MRSW2016 mentioned, at the scene when they were discussing the wedding, it was clear that he had no objection to Yu Tu marrying Jing Jing, so it is implied that he does like her and accept her as the daughter-in-law.

We need to see some of those imperfections, before we can call it character growth. If she starts and ends perfectly, there will be little or no growth. And, given the fact that she was pretty much sheltered in the palace all the way till the Xuanwu Gate Incident, it was 'reasonable' or at least understandable and realistic to see some of the early mistakes that she made.

And, of course, she has Ashile Sun to thank for, to give her the protection that she needed early on, while she was still learning and growing. Throughout that process, her IQ was never in doubt. She just needed time to figure out the mentality of the people of the people around her, and also time for her to understand her own evolving priorities in life.

Despite the pace picking up slightly on E10, SSS is still very slow. I think this is deliberate. I mean, the director wants it to be at this pace. And all the fighting sequences, all in slow-mo. This is very old school, like back in the days of the 1980s and 1990s.

I think most people have moved on from stuff like that. Like you said, after watching TLB, all these slow mo fighting is just not appealing anymore. Read an online article which suggests that SSS is not doing very well in China. Youku does not need to fear SSS at all. TBW will obliterate SSS. Now, it is just a question of them putting the finishing touches. They have time. If they wish, they could air is as early as 8 Jan 2022 onward.

SSS already starting to get better by E 10. Pace is picking up.
