She will really need to film something in 2022, because she did publicly mentioned, in 2019, she was pleading for producer/director to contact her as she did not film anything for 8 months and not a single drama aired in 2019. She will not want history to repeat itself. There has to a script out there that will meet her taste and her standard.

You described the relationship between the two leads in YAMG very well.

YAMG is the best modern romance Cdrama for 2021, accumulating 4.22b views so far, fair and square. A number of people who watched that drama are here on this comment page. We just do not wish to make too much noise here, not wanting to start any kind of 'war' on this page.

The airing of TBW in Jan 2022 is still a real possibility, even if they have yet to release new stills and trailers. Perhaps they are still busy putting finishing touches to the post production. Youku would not want to miss the Jan window, cause if they do, they will have to air this in March, after the Winter Games, and lots of other dramas in their inventory will be jammed up.

It is well possible that they will release the airing schedule just a week before the actual airing, so they could actually air this anything between 15-19 Jan 2022. If so, we will hear something by the end of this week, or next week at the latest.

I see. I think apart from the aerospace theme, the thing that sets this drama apart from other dramas will be the amazing chemistry between the two leads.

This is basically a romance drama, sprinkled with some humour. And in a romance drama, people want to see romance, meaning do they believe that they saw two people in love?

I think a great majority said yes. When we see them in the small screen in front of us, we cannot deny that they were madly in love. This is seen from the way they embraced each other, look at each other, talk to each other; pretty much all of their interactions convey a sense of love and affection.

And, of course, their journey to reach that point, Yu Tu having to overcome his insecurity or even inferiority complex, compared to the career success of Qiao Jing Jing. And QJJ, not looking down on Yu Tu, despite coming from a richer family and earning much more than him.

What was it that you couldn't see? Or, we could also put it another way, what was it that you saw?? Don't worry. I am just trying to engage you in a meaningful conversation.

Yup. I provided some fan base number in one of the posts below. Dilraba has about 74m followers on Weibo; Yang Yang has 53m. Total 127m. If all of them watched every single episode, that alone will lead us to 4.06b views. The rest of the views provided by 'neutrals'. So, the 4.2B views is hardly unrealistic.

Many of us were here, looking at the view count everyday. It was a steady climb. There was no sudden upswing or sudden downswing of views. The views went up, above the average of 100m a day, from around the episode that caused Tencent viewing platforms to hang, due to overwhelming demand.

Just ignore those people. They are just jealous that YAMG did so well.

YAMG did not hit 2B in 5 days. It hit about 100M per episode, and higher in the later episodes. Tencent was very strict in the view count. Gone are the days when a single click on an episode would count as a view. I think you have to stay on the episode for at least 15 minutes, for the view to count.

I have read lots of online articles and none of them mentioned anything about people being forced to watch. The drama had a lot of product sponsors. All those product sponsors would have complained, if Tencent had cheated, and we would have read about it.

So, just ignore all those people.

I think I came across a similar tweet. Lady in red ancient costume. Must be the same drama that you are referring to. The tweet said no ML has been signed up. But, if the script is good and she takes it, it will not be difficult to find a suitable ML.

Of course it is ok! No one says it is not ok. No drama can appeal to everyone. Just as this drama did not leave a lasting impression on you, those that did leave a lasting impression on you may not leave anything on anyone here.

Watching and enjoying drama is all a matter of taste.

Yes, he did reject her; twice, in fact. But, first rejection, they were still in high school. He was not ready for any kind of boy-girl relationship. After high school, they went their separate ways and did not meet again, till they were 29 years old. 2nd rejection, he thought he was not good enough for her. He later realised that she does not mind their different status in life or income level, or whatever.

She will accept his apologies and they got together. And once they get together, there will be no breakups or misunderstanding. Yes, lots and lots of romance. This is a romance drama.

I showed you all those numbers for Evernight and YAMG to illustrate the fact that both dramas have already been rated by huge number of raters. You would only get biased ratings when a new drama has just been released, and only 10-20 fans or antifans rated that drama, or even a few hundred raters.

Evernight got 8.4 simply because out of the 3000 plus raters, many people who watched that drama and who took the trouble to rate it simply felt that it deserves a mean score of 8.4.

Likewise, out of the thousands of overseas viewers who watched YAMG, the mean has gravitated toward 8.8 because a huge number who watched it and who took the trouble to rate it simply felt that it deserved 8.8.

There is no under rating or over rating for either Evernight or YAMG.

And talking about fillers, Evernight has 60 episodes of 45 minutes, while YAMG only has 32 episodes of roughtly 30 minutes. No need to be a math genius to guess which drama made greater use of fillers.

The biggest culprits that used fillers are historical Cdramas (or even historical Kdramas). Particularly dramas from years ago. This is why censors in China have been forcing producers in China to make their dramas shorter and shorter, by taking out unnecessary stuff.

Why is the rating in YAMG so high? Yes, you are not wrong in saying it is not about the story. Because in Douban, the rating of this drama is higher than the rating of the original source material (which contains the basic story behind this drama). In short, this drama outperformed the original novel.

And it succeeded in doing so because of the superior acting by the two main leads, who made the original story believeable. There are other production factors that helped this drama too, but the key would still be two main leads, since the storyline is rather simple (compared to a historical Cdrama).

Watching a drama is all about taste and expectations. The high rating here is just a reflection that this drama has met the taste and expectations of people who watched You are my glory, expecting romance. They got what they came for, and felt that they saw two people deeply in love.

Likewise, for Evernight. It only got 8.4, because lots of people, relatively speaking. were not all that happy with that drama.

Like I said, we are talking about thousands and thousands of raters, not just hundreds. These people, one must assume, have watched lots and lots of modern dramas and historical dramas, before deciding on their ratings for You are my glory and Evernight.

That is just our guess, because lots of people have asked why no actual kiss between Ashile Sun and Li Changge. We have eliminated all other possibilities, inclusive of the followeing:
1. It cannot be the pandemic, because there were really kisses between Mimi and Mujin.
2. It cannot be the director, because he has no problem asking his leads to do real kisses (eg. Eternal Love of Dream).
3. It cannot be Wu Lei's age, because an actor as young as he was (while he was filming TLB) also did a real kiss with the FL.

Anyway, this is not a big deal for many of us, because romance was never the main focus of this drama.

Just for comparision, Evernight was rated by 3210 users, and has rating of 8.4; this one was rated by 10478 users and rated at 8.8. Guess the numbers speak for themselves?
