Lulu and Birdlady, MDL just confirmed. The screenwriter is Li Jing Ling. Our puzzle is solved!

If you found it useful, it is worth all the time I spent thinking and typing that post. And truly, any more romance, it would have taken away the core of the story. The writer of the source material would have been so so disappointed. But with the existing story in the drama, the 'core' remained intact, Li Changge's story is faithfully told, while some romance has been injected as a form of icing on the cake.

I think Birdlady is just trying to rally Reba fans on the pages that Reba has acted in recent dramas. She has gone on to the pages of The Long Ballad and You are my glory and have done the same and have not received any complaints from anyone. Not from Yang Yang fans or Wu Lei fans.

If you wish to use this page to remind Gong Jun fans to vote for him and any of his dramas, it should be ok. You will not recevied any complaints from Reba fans. We co-exist really well.

I do not think MDL set any strict boundaries on what can or cannot be done, particularly if it is just one or two posts. If you go to some MDL pages, they do even crazier stuff that take up thousands of posts, and MDL admins are not complaining.

I think it is important for Reba fans to get along well with Gong Jun fans here on this page, so that we can jointly promote this drama to anyone who come here. If they see us quarelling, it is a bad sign.

I checked the dramawiki page for The Blue Whisper. It did state Li Jing Ling as the screenwriter. However, near the top of the page, it also indicates that some information could be wrong. I usually use at least two sources, to check my info.

The dramawiki page also indicates that Li Jing Ling is the screenwriter for The Rebel Princess (2021). When I crossed checked with the MDL page of The Rebel Princess, true enough, it also indicates Li Jing Ling as the screenwriter. So, two different sources indicate Li Jing Ling as the screenwriter for The Rebel Princess.

But, interestingly, this is not the case for The Blue Whisper. Only dramawiki indicates that Li Jing Ling is the screenwriter, and dramawiki issued a warning, stating that some information on that page could be wrong. MDL page for The Blue Whisper does not indicate who the screenwriter is. I also checked a third source: https://cfen.si/2021/02/18/dilraba-ren-jialun-begin-filming-fantasy-romance-the-blue-whisper/. This one also did not indicate who the screenwriter is.

Hence, to be honest, we do not have a definite answer. If I were to venture a guess, it would be director Chui. Why? Because he is a very experienced director. If the producer can trust anyone, it would be him.

In any case, I have checked practically all the dramas that are based on novels written by Jiu Liu Fei Xiang. In all the MDL pages of these dramas, not a single one is screenwritten by her. I think she simply does not want to be the screenwriter. She is quite happy to sell the rights to her book to drama producers, and let the producers choose their own screenwriters.

Not really. This drama is about how two persons from two different worlds met after a long long time, and fell in love. The gaming stuff was used a plot device for them to meet. After E14, there will no more gaming stuff. From E1 to E14, you can fast forward some of those gaming scenes and not lose anything. But, not all scenes from E1 to E14 are irrelevant, only those which show them playing on their phones with very little meaningful conversations.

Once they get together, around E19, nothing will separate them and it is pure sweetness from there till end of the drama.

In case you are wondering how I concluded that the director of The Blue Whisper doubled up as the screenwriter, you can just look at this page itself. Right above, you can see the name of the director, but not the name of the screenwriter.

Now, not all writers of novel like to be screenwriters, but some do. If you go to the MDL page of You are My glory, you will see that it is clearly stated, the screen writer is Gu Man. She is also the author the book with the same name. Gu Man likes to be the screenwriter of all movie/drama adaptations of her novels. This way, she can ensure that most of the stuff she wrote is followed. Another example is Mo Bao Fei Bao, who also screen writes for all her novel adaptations into dramas.

But not for Jiu Liu Fei Xiang, the novel writer of The Blue Whisper. She does not screen write for adaptations of her novels. Not just for The Blue Whisper, but also other dramas like: The Legends (2019), Eternal Love (2022) and Back from the Brink (2022), all of which are based on her novels. She does not seem to mind that other people screen write for adaptations of her novels.

Hence, when I gave you my response, that the screenwriter for The Blue Whisper is very likely the director and not the author of the novel, I did so only after doing some research and noting some patterns among different novel writers.

Dilraba next historical drama, The Blue Whisper, will be shown soon. Likely in Jan 2022. This one is a historical fantasy drama, hence it does not have lots of historical context that is linked to Chinese history. Most historical fantasy dramas show the battle between good and evil, and, of couse, good always win in the end.

We have done our best and it just isn't working. But, we can take comfort in the fact that 2021 has been a great year for Reba. YAMG clocked 4.11B views and TLB clocked 3.39B, adding to a total of 7.5B views. No actress in mainland China can beat that, as of this moment. And even when 2021 is done, it is highly unlikely that any actress in China can beat that. TLB has also won a number of award internationally.

Hence, her millions of fans in China will be exceptionally happy, and will come out and vote for her and her dramas. We can count on that. In terms of number, we, her international fans, are no match for her fans in China.

Originally, TBW was planned for 60 episodes. 30 for season 1 and 30 for season 2. It seems they have trimmed it, and season 2 is not likely to have 30 episodes. But the director is likely to follow the novel. The trimmed portion will likely be side stories involving secondary characters, leaving us with greater focus on the characters played by Dilraba and Allen

Nothing stated. So, likely producer already bought the rights to the novel, has full trust in the director, and the screenwriter is likely also the director. If he does it, will not be the first time. Noble Aspiration (2016). Same thing. No screenwriter. Three directors. They likely decide on the script themselves.

Interesting!! You must be aware, TBW is the third collaboration between Director Chu and Reba? I think he was very impressed by Reba, when he directed Eternal Love of Dream. And then brought her over to The Long Ballad, and then again to TBW. I could be wrong, but in his long history of directing, Reba must be actress that he has most collaboration with.

They already started fighting? Reba fans against Johnny's fans? So sad.

I do not mind as well. For me, Reba filming a drama is definitely better than doing all those variety shows, even if she is paid well in those variety shows. I think the most important thing for Reba is that the script must be good.

I do not think she gets to choose whom she can act with. Usually, that decision is made by producer or director of both of them jointly. But, they may tell her who the potential male lead is and let her decide if she wants to be part of it.

I read an online article which also talked about that ice skating drama with Johnny Huang. Fan war arose the last time they acted together because of dating rumour. I think Reba fans feel that she is too good for Johnny. I doubt they were ever dating, but there are lots of crazy fans in China. However, I do not think there will be fan war this time, even if they act together. Chinese authorities pay close attention to such interaction and Reba's agency will openly ask all her fans to behave civilly.

Did not hear anything about the modern drama with Wu Lei.

So, still no official rejection of Ball Lightning?

I think at this moment, she has yet to make up her mind. If those are her three options, she will want to think carefully which is best for her career.

Whichever she chooses, filming will start only in Jan. So, she has time.
