I'm a sucker for historical dramas especially when Dilraba is hail to star in one. I've always wanted her t o…
Qing era? Do you mean something like Wei Yingluo in The Story of Yanzi Palace?? That one is full of palace intrigues, but the FL used her brain rather than any fighting skills. I am not sure, but I doubt Dilraba will want a role like that, although I must say Wu Jingyan did an excellent job, won many acting awards and became an overnight international star after that drama.

If you look at Reba's historical dramas, they are normally historical drama of an older periods (reference TMOPB, ELOD; and up and coming dramas TBW and LOA). She likes roles where she can fight physically, and Qing era does not seem to have a lot of stories where the FL can fight. She look gorgeous in older historical costumes and she can fight in those costumes. If she acts as a consort or queen in a Qin era drama, those costumes look really nice too, but are not meant for fighting.

As for Republican era drama, thus far, we also do not see her in one. Not sure if she is deliberately avoiding dramas of that era, but I think if there is a good script, she may well try those, and I think she will excel.

There is a rumour that Reba may act in a modern sci-fi drama called Ball Lightning. She has never acted in any serious modern drama, so she may well take up the challenge and act in that one. For sure it will broaden her acting range.

Jinnie, this is not boring. About 125 million people in China have watched this drama, plus unknown millions around…
Very good idea!! I saw you on the page of TLB. I think you will like TLB, based on the questions that you asked. If you do, you will like Reba's performance as an actress. And then, when you watch YAMG, you will see her transit effortlessly from a heavy historical drama, to a light modern romance drama. You will respect her acting range.

could you link the page, can't seem to find the drama even when i google it maybe it's called something else
My sincere apologies to you. It was rather late over at my place, when I typed that post. It should be My Fated Boy (2021).

Here is the link: https://kisskh.at/69073-love-me-like-a-child

Nice drama. If you like YAMG, I think you will like this as well. No love triangle. No break up, after they got together. It is a serious drama, with slightly more humour than YAMG.

He have a history drama with lusi who rules the world.
Casting decisions are not made by actors/actresses, but usually by producer, director, and sometimes by the major investors. Cannot really blame Lusi. And Lusi is young. In China, they love to keep investing in young stars, in the hope that they will find a gem.

The same thing happened to Dilraba. If no one invested in her, she would not have been a big star today.

On You Are My Glory Oct 30, 2021
While roaming around, searching for another nice modern romance Cdrama, I chanced upon one called My Naked Boy (2021). This one was screened around the same time as YAMG and probably got clobbered because there are no big stars there, except for the FL, which used to be Reba's colleague at Jaywalk studios. They even acted together in one drama. She is not a bad actress at all.

Nice little drama with intereacting characters, all very well acted out, and a nice storyline. I was totally surprised, but the bedroom scene showed even more skin than YAMG, but just one, lasting a few seconds. Thus proving that Reba and Yang Yang could have gone a little further, if they had wanted to, and still pass the censors.

Title My Fated Boy
This is a nice little drama. Probably got under everyone's radar because it was aired about the same time as You are my Glory and that one has two big stars, while this does not have any. But the FL in this drama used to be a colleague of Dilraba at Jaywalk Studios and they even acted together in drama before.

Even without any big stars, it is a good watch. Characters are interesting and very well acted out, and the story is refreshing.

Is this boring? (so many people watched this 😮)
Jinnie, this is not boring. About 125 million people in China have watched this drama, plus unknown millions around the world. And the drama and its lead actor and actress have won some recent awards. If it is boring, none of these would have happened.

As mentioned by Birdlady, you need to start with Episode one, in order to understand the context of the story. As you progressed from E1, if you are not a gaming person, those gaming scenes, you can still watch but put it to fast forward mode to save time, and quickly put to normal, once there are some conservations between Reba and Yang Yang. If you do not mind those gaming scenes, that is even better.

All those gaming scenes will end around Episode 14. There will then be some work-related aerospace scenes which you can also fast forward without losing too much context, if aerospace is not your cup of tea. They will get together officially in Episode 21, and from there till the end of the drama is a journey you will never forget.

The Long Ballad would be the best drama to start with, because it is her most recent historical drama. You will…
Oh, by the way, I do not just watch Reba dramas. Any good Cdrama out there, I will watch. I just don't have the interest, time or energy to comment on their MDL pages.

Yes, so many awards have been reported by so many people here in this forum. Yes, Reba has indeed gotten many new endorsements since YAMG, so did Yang Yang.

2021 is really a bumper year for Reba. Both TLB and YAMG did so well everywhere. Next year, she should win some acting awards in China. Those jealous anti-fans will turn into angry anti-fans.

The Long Ballad would be the best drama to start with, because it is her most recent historical drama. You will…
Sorry. Are you referring to me?? I only started an account in MDL, after watching the TLB (May 2021) and seeing so many ridiculous comments attacking Reba and that drama. So, you will not see on the pages of her dramas prior to TLB (e.g., TMOPB; ELOD; etc). Of course, I could have started an account in May 2021, and still go to those pages and comment, but I have no such interest.

So, clearly, I am not her spokesperson in MDL. Just a viewer who appreciates many of her dramas, especially her historical dramas.

And I learned a lot about Reba from many friends on the page of TLB, many of whom are here and many more will be coming, when LOA is about to air. Many of these viewers, they know me very well and vice versa.

Can I tackle an entire MDL comment section regard to information about Reba and her acting abilties? I can, if I have to. But, fortunately, I do not have to. There are lots of Reba fans here. They have lots of information regarding Reba too!

Am I a loyal and dedicated fan of Reba?? I think from TLB onward, I can be considered one. After getting to know her more (from other Reba fans), I have deep respect for her, not just as an actress, but as a person. A commentator Fairydustpuppy, on the page of TLB, once described Reba as an actress who is beautiful inside out. Fairydustpuppy only made one comment in this section so far, but she will surely make more comments later.

Is Reba lucky to have a fan like me?? I guess so. She has many many fans in China to defend her. Internationally, she has many fans too! Here on the MDL page, together with many of my friends from TLB page, we will be some of their most ardent and loyal supporters. But mainly, it is from TLB onward. She has too many dramas; we do not have the time nor energy to 'defend' all her performances.

Wow ... some anti must have done a massive rating on Tencent site a day or two ago. From 7.8 to 7.5 overnight.…
I think we no longer need to worry too much about its rating on the Tencent site. Word of mouth would have gotten around in China, so people are still going to watch this, despite all those attacks and its current rating.

For a modern romance drama, YAMG has the highest number of views in whole of 2021, losing out only to Crimecrackdown, which is a modern crime fighting drama with massive following in China (it has 5.24 B views with only 28 episodes!). On Tencent's platform, YAMG ranks 5, TLB ranks 6, in terms of viewership.

One on-line article mentioned that for whole of 2021, across all genres, YAMG is the most profitable drama for Tencent, beating those historicals that have much higher views.

Do you mean swap in the sense Leo will go with Lusi and Reba will go with Yu Ning? Half of it is true. Leo is…
Understand. But that drama did very well. So, he must have learned something, how to write script that does not make viewers angry. Furthermore, the directors for LOA are very experienced. I think if there are some things that they do not really like, they can discuss with producer and scriptwriter. I do not think the others will allow a lousy script to ruin the entire drama.

I recall the producer of TLB mentioned that they did not like the initial script for that drama and went to consult Xia Da, the artist of TLB.

The same thing can happen here, if the producer is not happy with Rao Jun's script. He or she has the power to ask Rao Jun to make changes, or he can allow the directors to make changes to the script during the filming process.

Many GJ fans aren't that worried though. At least I haven't seen anything like that here or in twitter. In fact…
Scriptwriter Rao Jun's latest work is Ancient Love Peotry, and that one seems well received, which should give us some confidence that he will not mess up the script for LOA.

I have little doubt that Han Ye's character is going to be equally important as Anle's, nor do I have any concern that fans of all the cast members will get along and support each other here in this forum. When we support Reba, we will also support all the other characters, as the entire team needs to do well for the drama to be successful.

The people we need to watch out are anti fans of Reba or GJ. We will see them here, once the drama airs. In fact, some time back, some may have already come here. Once we unite and push back against these people, they will not be able to create too much trouble for the rest of us.

just wanted to make it clear that although the drama schedule leaks are from weibo, it is taken from the conference…
Yes, it is totally possible for them air TBW earlier than Q3 2022. Filming of TBW took less than 4 months, pointing to the likelihood that they have trimmed the number of episodes to around 43-44. With that few episodes, they do not need all that much time to do the CGI and editing. They have already worked on it for 4 months (filming ended in June). A good CGI company should be able to complete the job in another 4-5 months. In theory, they can air this by March-April 2022, thus giving them plenty of time to air Legend of Anle in late 2022. It is also to Youku's benefit to air two blockbusters in 2022, instead of one.

For many of us who are Reba fans, the last drama of hers was YAMG and that one ended in August. If TBW can only be shown in Q3 2022, it is a long wait of close to a year, which is ridiculous. Q1 or Q2 would be great.

Yes, that is the thing. Lots of people are speculating, since we do not know what will really happen till the drama is aired. We can only hope that Rao Jun, the scriptwriter for LOA, will not do anything silly to jeopardise the success of LOA. His latest historical, Ancient Love Peotry, was well received. So, I think he is now a better script writer than in the past, and he will not create unnecessary love triangles, if there is none in the novel.

Definitely. I am sure we will see lots of Han Ye in LOA, when the drama is aired.

Furthermore, what we are talking about right now is adaptation in the drama, not the novel itself. At this point, before the drama is aired, we do not know what will actually happen in the drama. What happened in the novel may not happen in the drama, due to changes made by the scriptwriter Rao Jun.

I have a question!I've been following the filming of this drama because of GJ, and both he and Dilraba look great…
The Long Ballad would be the best drama to start with, because it is her most recent historical drama. You will be able to see her acting skill in a historical, before watching Legend of Anle (which is also an historical). Watching TLB, you can see her horse riding, sword fighting and arrow shooting skills, tumbling, plus many others. She could be using some of these skills in Legend of Anle.

Thanks Fairydustpuppy! These links should clear up the confusion. So cool that three Chinese dramas were nominated…
With her physical resemblance to Li Changge, this role was always going to be hers for the taking. I think playing Li Changge must have also impacted her personally, in a way playing QJJ in YAMG would not (even though she did really well playing that role too). The changes that LCG went through, that have touched her personally.
