Ok, I do not have the precise answer, but I think a pretty good one. I think ranking is related to rating. So, you see, even though Doulou Continent has 5B plus views, its rating in MDL is only 8.4, which is much lower than TLB at 8.7. So, I think the MDL uses some measures of the rating to determine the ranking of a drama. The figure that we see here, 8.7, is the mean or average of all raters. I suspect, MDL may not even be using the mean of ALL raters, but perhaps the mean of the most recent 1000 raters, or something like that.

But, the mean of all raters is a good guide. Usually the higher the rating in MDL, the higher the ranking. The number of views is not important in MDL, because number of views only applies to viewers in China, while MDL is more for international viewers like all of us.

Sad to say, I am very technologically challenged and don't really know how to use those accounts. But, you can always send me a direct message in MDL. I do not mind.

Ah? How can you get bored when they got together? So many things were happening. Most people here find the most interesting part of this drama started from the time they got together, because that when their chemistry really began to show. from all the hand holding, hugs, eye gazes, their dialogue and so on (apart from the kisses and more adult kind of stuff). And, of course, needless to say, their kisses were really passionate.

You said you were not turned off by the video game. Did the high number of kisses in YAMG somehow made you feel uncomfortable?? Because YAMG does appeal to slightly older viewers, mainly those 20 and above. I would say, ideally, those who are already working adults, because some of the work issues addressed in this drama, students will not be able to understand.

I give you my word that I will start watching You are my hero. If nothing else, just to determine why you find chemistry in You are my hero, but not here in YAMG.

Yes, I think it does. But one person alone rating each episode 10/10 may not be enough to boost the rating. May need hundreds of us, because there are now so many raters and some have rated this drama rather low.

Actually, Bai Jing Ting and Sandra Ma are quite famous in China, even if they are not as popular as Yang Yang and Reba. I googled to find out about Sandra Ma. She started as a child actress, so lots of viewers in China must be very familiar with her. And Bai Jing Ting has acted in quite a few dramas, so he is also fairly well known in China. Visually, they may not be as beautiful/handsome as Reba and Yang Yang, but they are sufficiently appealing enough for many viewers.

I did not watch You are my hero, even though I have heard good things about that drama. It has a fairly high rating in MDL, so I think that drama must be fairly good. My guess is that a complex or heavier storyline and good acting made that show very popular in China.

I think a slightly different formula is used in You are my glory. This drama has a simple storyline. There are no misunderstanding between the main couple once they are in a relationship. So, it depended on romance to 'drive' the drama. As such chemistry between Reba and Yang Yang is very important, because to come across as a loving couple, on-screen chemistry is very important. And on-screen chemistry is not just a result of number of kisses, but the quality of those kisses. They must seem to be 'real', and not merely acted out by Reba and Yang Yang. Chemistry is also seen from the way they are comfortable with each other, and their body language like the way they look at each other, hand holding, etc.

The reason why you see so many people are in love with this drama is that many people see lots of chemistry between Reba and Yang Yang, and not just because they are pretty faces. There are lots of pretty faces actors/actresses out there who cannot act.

You said you were not bored watching all 40 episodes of You are my hero. I am just curious, were you a bit bored by You are my glory, because of the video game in the early episodes???

Ok. You finally did it, finished the final 2 episodes. Ok, this drama, the plot is simple. There isn't a lot of twists and turns. No big villains around. Their exes are easily 'disposed of'. So if you are watching to understand the storyline, indeed watching it twice is more than enough.

I think this couple has just discovered that besides that video game, sex is another of their common interest. So, they seem to do plenty of those before marriage. I think the Chinese society is slowly changing. Used to be sex before marriage is a taboo. Nowadays, even in real life, looking the examples of celebrities in China, there seem to a lot of that happening (sex before marriage). If celebrities are willing to take the risk (of pregnancy before marriage), I think more and more average couple in China must be finding it ok.

To help us understand the basis of your evaluation, which drama in your opinion is a great drama, that does not rely on famous leads and pretty faces?? That has fabulous chemistry?? And interesting storyline? Maybe just name one or two??

Have not heard of it. Just checked the novel. Seems that it has an older woman with younger man theme. Sounds quite appropriate for them, as Reba is much older than Leo. But Reba is linked to so many new projects, we hardly know which are the projects that she will finally take on.
