I will just address your first few points. Maybe others can address the rest.
1. You said hitting the old lady is attack for which the female lead could lose her arm. I do no disagree with you. But the female lead was willing to take the risk. I see nothing wrong with that. If she was caught, she will face the consequences. And later, she was indeed caught, but the male lead was able to get her out of trouble.
2. You said who will let someone into the house of high level court official so easily. I also agree with you. But, do bear in mind. They did send a carriage from the court official's house to fetch that lady musician. The female lead was dressed as the lady who was going to play the pipa, her face was veiled, but the servant of the real lady pipa was right behind her, carrying the pipa. So, it is very possible that whoever drove the horse carriage just assumed that she was the real pipa lady. It might have been impolite to ask her to unveil and check her identity, since she came out from the house of the pipa lady and the servant was with her. At the very most, we can say that security was lax by today's standards, but I do not see that as a plot hole at all.
3. You then said the son of a high ranking official falling in love with the singer is not possible. I would disagree with you. Since when social status differences have prevented people from falling in love? The classic story of Romeo and Juliet shows that people can fall in love dispite vast status differences. There are plenty of examples in real life where rich guy fell in love with women of lower status (and vice versa).
4. You then said the son could be kicked out of the house for insisting on having a relationship with the singer. This is entirely possible. Which is why this drama took so much pain to show how the female lead was able to win over the heart of the male lead's mother, and then the male lead's father. It was her intelligence that convinced these two elderly persons that the female lead, though just a singer, was worthy of being their daughter-in-law. Besides, her background isn't all that bad. She was the daughter of ranking court official and her family was destroyed because her father was falsely accused of corruption.

They are just basically ranking these 5 dramas in terms of view counts on Wetv, which is the international streaming arm of Tencent. In short, it measures popularity of these 5 dramas for interenational viewers like all of us or in countries where Wetv are licensed to screen the above 5 dramas. And YAMG came out on top. It just goes to show that not only is the drama popular in China, it is also rather popular overseas, using Wetv as the common yardstick.

This is a very nice summary of how many of us feel at the end of watching this drama. Happy to see them together, but sad because we can no longer see more of them on our screen. So, the only thing we an hope for is their next collaboration. If we really do miss them, the only way is to rewatch.

Story is based on a novel by Gu Man, who is also the screenwriter for this drama. Fans of her novel in China and overseas like her style of writing, so she is very popular. Story is simple, with not too much twists and turns. Little or no angsty. Just a simple love story between two people from two different industries, lost touch for years, finding each other again having not met for the last 10 years. The two main leads carried the show, making their unlikely love story sweet and believeable. There is charm in their dialogue, and humour sprinkled throughout the drama.
Tonight, two groups of people are watching in China. Those with VIP membership watching E31-32. Ordinary members E29-30 All these are very good episodes. So number should keep going up.
