The rate of increase of viewership keeps changing, so it is really difficult to tell. At the current pace, it means that when series ends next week, we are likely going to get to around 3.2B views. This is still a very good number, even though Tencent would hope for around 4B. It will place both of Reba's two latest dramas in the Top 10 in Tencent's drama list. Reba herself should be pretty happy.
If the episodes next week are as charming as those of the latest few episodes, who knows? We may well get to 4B.
If you have been waiting for that drama for a long time, you should be very happy. And it seems like a very different kind of drama from YAMG. I suspect many people from this forum will be moving over to watch TOOL, once YAMG finishes its run.
Reba is on a roll this year with two successful dramas back to back!! There are many rumors of magazine photoshoots…
Reba is on a roll this year. She has two big historicals coming up next year. If those dramas are also back to back success, she will have 4 in a roll. It will just show her consistency in bringing in big viewership numbers.
1. The Oath of Love. This drama is coming up real soon. 2. Immortality 3. Novoland: Pearl Eclipse. 4. Mirror: Twin Cities.
The above 4 have many many big stars.
Apart from the above, there could be 1-2 I might not be aware. Often, there could also be 'surprise' hit, dramas with less popular leads, but nevertheless, can do very well.
If viewership is compared based on the time a drama ends its run, then currently, the drama that is in fifth position is Rattan, with 3.95B views. If YAMG wants to be in Top 5, it must beat that number when it ends its run next week: 3.95B views. And Rattan has only 30 episodes, so the comparison is quite fair.
We also need to bear in mind. There are some very big 'monster' dramas coming up. Dramas that are potentially very big hits. At least 5-6 of such dramas coming up. So, realistically speaking, if YAMG can end the year as a Top 10, it is already an achievement.
I'm not getting where people are referring to this as an "Idol" drama. Gu Man's not writing "Idol" dramas. This…
I don't think you missed anything. I think Phoenix314 wanted to praise everything that is YAMG, but did not know that the phrase 'idol drama' refers to a drama with a lead that had just transited from a pop group to acting in a drama. Like those examples you have provided.
These 'idol' actors/actresses typically did not go to a drama academy or acting school, but merely ride on their popularity as a singer/dancer and bring their fans from the music industry into the drama/movie industry. In modern dramas, their lack of acting abilities may not show, but in historical dramas, it will be more apparent. I watched Cheng Xiao in "World of Fantasy", and the entire drama, her face has the same expression. Many months ago, I wanted to watch "The Legend of awakening" but when I went to the MDL page of that drama, many people said her acting is bad and there is no chemistry between her and Arthur Chen, so I did not even bother starting that one.
Both Reba and Yang Yang are not 'idol' actress/actor. They spent years in an acting school/academy before entering the entertainment industry.
I'm still wondering lool.... how's the romance in this?
Actually, quite a number of people asked this same question as you did. So, very long ago, many of us searched for a clue also. But, we could not find anything. He went to Tang territory many times, but you will see from all the scenes that he was there, he made no effort to find out who his birth parents were, although there were some clues which say his parents were from the Tang Dynasty.
Very likely, they died when he was very very young, so both his birth parents died young, and they did not leave behind any ornaments (like jade pieces, etc) or letter, to indicate who were his parents. Without any clue, he must have felt it was pointless to even try to find who his parents were. I think the screenwriters for this drama did not want to link him to any birth parents, in order not to make the storyline too complicated. Already, there are so many characters in the drama.
But, in the manhua, this was very different. There was a someone from the Khitan tribe who knew about his parents, and this person was in touch with Ashile Sun and he told him about his parents.
The scene with Rosy Zhao crying because she didn't make it in time.... man, i was so teary eyed, such an emotional…
That that one scene was really good. But Dilraba had far more crying scenes and she delivered all of them superbly. I lost count of the number. At least 4-5.
I'm still wondering lool.... how's the romance in this?
In the drama, we do not know, because he was never keen to know about his birth parents. The drama did not play up this issue. In the manhua, his parents were Khitans, who were enemies of the Eastern Turks.
Congratulations to You Are My Glory team for being #4 on Tencent's annual best seller list. We are not yet finish…
For Reba, she will be very happy. YAMG will likely rank just ahead of TLB. End of the year, both her dramas this year should be among Top 10, on Tencent's list. She is a ambassador for their streaming platform, so to have both her drama rank so highly, she would have felt that she has done her job.
Same for YY. He has only one drama for this year. But his second drama could be aired later in 2021. He should be pretty happy, as he is also a brand ambassador for Tenent.
It will be a pity if you do not watch at least a few episodes of TOOL. It is one of the most anticipated dramas…
Some may prefer more angst, actually. I am one of those who prefer a thicker story line. But I still support YAMG very heavily, because of Reba and the chemistry between Reba and YY is great! Storywise, I can hardly blame Reba/YY. Gu Man may have wanted her novel/drama to be lighter in terms of plot.
I read somewhere that YY asked to work with Reba for this project. If it’s true, can’t blame him. With such…
This is the version that I read earlier, that Gu Man had both Reba and YY in mind, in their respective role as QJJ and YT. It makes sense, honestly. Because who better to play a character like QJJ, then Reba?? She is about the same age as QJJ. She is a celebrity actress with lots of endorsement deals. I did not read the novel, but people did said that in terms of personality, Reba is very much like QJJ. As for for YT, Gu Man had already approached him quite a while ago. She knows he will play YT well.
If the episodes next week are as charming as those of the latest few episodes, who knows? We may well get to 4B.
