It's kinda disappointing that the least remarkable actor is yang yang. He hasn't changed since i last saw him…
I agree on the part of Dilraba. She does seem to be carrying the show thus far. As an actress, she is really showing us what she is capable of. She aced her role in TLB and now is doing the same in YAMG.
But some viewers do point out the fact that Yang Yang is like that because that is the way the character is written. And Gu Man being the novelist as well as the scriptwriter for this drama do add credibility to that observation. I mean, if he was acting out of line with the script or novel, she would have pointed it out to Yang Yang or the director. And these viewers also mentioned that Yang Yang did act well with his eyes and with his micro facial expressions.
I have been told, in later episodes, he will emote more with his face.
As a whole, this is a great piece of work. So far, I could not spot any major mis-step. Information on the internet shows that this drama was actually shot on the island of Hainan. But watching you, you can hardly tell. You almost feel that lots of it were actually filmed in Shanghai.
Edit: Forgot to add. I find great chemistry between Yang Yang and Dilraba. I do find them being very comfortable with each other. Good eye contact. Strong desire to be together. Soon, this chemistry will carry the show, if hasn't already done so.
What makes you feel that JJ is looking more like a support role??
I didn't really feel it. I felt it was ok. She got to express her frustration in being rejected by him. That must have caused some dent to her self-confidence; and then the game part, she could not play, so she took the initiative to get him to coach her. So quite a lot of stuff were happening from her end, even if she was successful in her career.
I think in this drama, her character matured faster than YT. Very early on, she already knew what she wanted, in terms of relationship. It is YT who needs to develop, to understand his own feelings, and what he wants in a boy-girl relationship.
Yes I have noticed it and his eyes are so expressive. I don't know why nobody is seeing that his eye expression…
I have the same definition as you. I am sure Fairydustpuppy has the same definition too. So do many others who are here. Sparks can fly, even with eye gazes, as we saw in TLB.
If they can hit 1 billion views in a week, they will be keeping pace with Eternal Love of Dream, and well within…
It is indeed a bit slow. I watched it last year, when it was first aired. I cannot remember the exact episodes now, but many people suggested that you could skip the entire first part, and still not miss much. I think the first arc is when they were at the mortal realm. After that, things really began to pick up. It is a nice drama, actually. I did love it.
For a faster historical, and if you have yet to watch, you can try The Long Ballad. This one moves faster than ELOD. The actors and actress speak at a faster rate than in ELOD. And the plot is very interesting.
i guess there will always be complaints regardless how good a drama can be. like you said, i am also super thankful…
Yeah. Just have to try. Cause already come across at least 1-2 viewers who want to drop this drama, because of the game. Just hope to catch their attention and change their mind. The most interesting parts coming up. Will be a pity if they drop it now.
Yeah. I read that comment as well. But I can't really figure out what the commentator meant.
If the commentator is trying to say Reba is slow in understanding what the director's assistant is trying to say, Reba already explained. She said she mis-heard that phrase. These people spoke Mandarin, but may use different accent, or the assistant spoke too softly, so Reba could not hear her clearly.
If they can hit 1 billion views in a week, they will be keeping pace with Eternal Love of Dream, and well within reach to make this a mega hit in China.
Yes I have noticed it and his eyes are so expressive. I don't know why nobody is seeing that his eye expression…
Eyes are small (compared to the entire human face), and micro facial expression not easy to detect (unless those viewers are really attentive). Maybe that is why some viewers do not detect chemistry between JJ and YT. They did not look at how he acts with his eyes and those subtle facial expressions.
All this could be due YT's character, as a shy technical person. I think this should change later, once he responds to her romantic overtures openly.
Dilraba's role as QJJ is much easier to portay, because QJJ is a confident extrovert. She can use her entire facial expression (cheek movement, etc) and body language, and even outright words, to express her interest in YT. We already saw that she plain outright told him to his face, "I am interested in you, and I want to be your girlfriend."
You are asking me a question, am I right? Why I come here to comment so often? Is that your question??
I know you are not complaining.
Few reasons why I comment so much on this page: 1. Intially, to push back against people who attacked either Dilraba orTLB. 2. Later, because I learned quite a lot about certain things from interacting with people here. 3. English is my first language. So writing is a piece of cake for me. Commenting is effortless. 4. Later, when I became more knowledgeable about TLB, I enjoyed explaining stuff, so others can enjoyed this drama more. 5. Most people here are very civilised. Very little personal attacks. If there were, I would have left this page long ago 6. Last reason, I happen to feel that this is Dilraba's best performance in an historical drama, I really do enjoy it immensely. Whatever time spend commenting here was worth it
But, you are on the page of YAMG as well. So, you might know that these days I spent more time there, and much much less time here.
I just come here to see if any newcomer to TLB needs help. If not, it is ok. I don't really feel that I MUST say something here.
I just feel the day is coming soon, when I will not even take the trouble to check if newcomers need any help. Others will take over that role.

I actually feel bad for those viewers. Like they are suffering so much. Some wanting to give up the drama, because they see so much of those gaming around. Hoping to encourage them to keep watchingf. Not sure if it will work.
They really don't have chemistry.i know most of their fans can't resist about the way I told.but I have huge expectation…
Don't worry. I do not mean we need to have the same preferences. But I do mean we need to have the same definition of chemistry. So that we know we are talking about the same thing.
If your definition is different from the rest, maybe that is why others see chemistry and you don't, because we have different definition.

I think about 5-6 familiar names are still around. They may not comment, but they are lurking around.
It should make its way to Netflix Sweden. May just need a bit of time.
