Some of us have been waiting since September last year. To fill the time while you wait, can watch some other dramas that are currently airing or have just completed. May not be excellent, but good enough for us to 'kill' time.

May not be familiar to many of us, as most overseas viewers are only familiar with all the younger male actors like Yang Yang and so on. But, Tong Dawei is a big gun in China. If those titles are new one, I can probably find it on those unofficial channels. If they are old titles, YouTube would be best. Anyhow, there is time, since we are all waiting for TBW. I will try the unofficial channels first.

I fully agree with you that the best lawyers are those who can speak and act well. They have to make their case before a jury. Besides the technicalities of legal principles, good communication and acting are still keys to winning cases.

Indeed it is nice to see another booting ceremony involving Reba. The last one was for LOA, which booted 8 months ago. And she last filmed three months ago. Nice long break from filming.

We've had very little British legal dramas on our TV, but quite a few American legal ones, like The Practice, Boston Legal, and the famous Law and Order franchise. Most of these series, hardly any romance. I suspect British legal dramas are similar? Very little romance, but mainly focused on crime solving and courtroom proceedings.

If Ling Xiasu turned out to the ML, good choice. He has vast acting experience, particularly in modern dramas. Married Yao Chen, but they divorced and remarried.

You must be concerned, what if he is indeed the ML and Yao Chen is also acting this drama? Should be ok. They were divorced in 2011, more than 11 years ago. Whatever hurt there was should have dissipated by now. Main focus of the drama will be legal and crimesolving, so not likely for the screenwriter to write their characters as lovers. If the script demands that they speak to each other, they should be able to act accordingly.

If, in fact, they had only applied for license for 22 episodes for Part 1, that would mean all along, they knew they only had enough shots to take up 22 episodes for part 1, it is not that bad at all. It was deliberate.

If they had applied for license for 30 episodes, and the censors forced them to cut it to 22, that is bad, It may result in bad editing.

If they were indeed given license to air 30 episodes, and the post production team decided to cut it to 22, it is still not too bad. It meant that things were fully in their control and were not forced on them. Perhaps during the post production, they decided that lots of episodes were fillers and trimming the episodes may actually help the drama to be less draggy and have a better flow.

Your observation is spot on, regarding NPE and MTC. Fans of those dramas waited for long long time.

Our expectations for early airing of TBW were raised by lots of rumours in twitter, that this would air sometime in Feb, one of which even had a very official looking poster.

As long as we get to see TBW by April, it would not be considered late, considering how challenging it must to get the CGI right, and the Chinese New Year break, which halted post production work.

Supporting role could well mean that Lay plays a bad character. In his latest drama, he acts as a guy out for revenge. He does have that look that makes him look like a villain of some sort. Hope he plays a bad guy and Reba and her team out to get him. I will love that!

To have the chance to play a lead role in a big budget production, the way the drama industry operates, you need to be in a big agency. Only the big agencies have the power to 'fight' for their actors/actresses, to get leading roles in those big budget productions. I am a bit disappointed that HYX is not approached by any of the big agencies, to join them. Or, did she make the decision not to join them??

Sometimes, it could also be due to 'connection' or "Guansi". Some very young actresses (whose names I will not mention here), due to their parents' connection with the 'right' people in China, are given so many opportunitie despite their young age.

Either way, I hope HYX can be an artiste with a big agency soon, so that she gets to be the FL in a big production. She will definitely be able to perform well beyond their expectations.

Lay has close to 51m followers in Weibo. That is why producers and directors love to cast him, even if it is for guest and supporting roles.

If that turns out to be true, that is ok. That will help to bring in the traffic. Any potential damage due to his poor acting will be limited. If he shines, that will be a bonus.

I think this time it must be very difficult to go a good CGI because of the fishtail of Allen. They must be having a hard time trying to make it look good and not like a cartoon.

If Lay is the ML, chances of failure is going to be very high. Guy is only a few months older than Reba and has relatively little experience as the ML. In a drama of this genre, legal/investigative, a ML with vast acting experience is truly needed. Hope the producer and director make a wise choice.
