Watching iQIYI’s MOBIUS on Viki US. I finished episode 6 tonight snd I am hooked. Bai Jing Ting is superb as is the rest of the cast. O/T. This is my second Bai Jing Ting drama with the 2024 iQIYI drama ALWAYS ON THE MOVE my first. Unfortunately I put AOTM on hold (or stop if you will) after episode 10. BJT’s performance in MOBIUS is an incentive to go back and finish AOTM.
I enjoyed the first 2 episodes of Wavve’s NO MERCY. I just read about it today and somehow I was able to watch the episodes on Kocowa. This is my first Gu Jun-hoe drama and I like his portrayal as a righteous detective. Honestly, after the miserable police work shown in QUEEN MANTIS, GJH’s Detective Park Jung-hoon is refreshing.
It is a shame that actor Lee Chang-min who gave one of the best performances in QUEEN MANTIS as boyhood friend Park Min-jae doesn’t rate a picture in the QUEEN MANTIS gallery above. The writer didn’t do him any favors either by killing him off.
I’ve heard people talk about Light On but didn’t really know what it was, Thanks for the rec!🎭
You are welcome. I finished BELOVED last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I believe iQIYI started its ‘Light On Theater’ series of crime dramas in 2020. The 2020 dramas were generally excellent. After 2020 the quality fluctuated but I thought 2025 has been a good year. Here is a link. If you haven’t watched, definitely watch BAD KIDS (2020). https://kisskh.at/775587-iqiyi-light-on
Through episode 9 and love iQIYI’s BELOVED. It is a worthy addition to iQIYI’s Light On Theater series of dramas. Also I really enjoy Wan Xiaoli’s OST that plays over the ending credits.
O/T. BENEATH THE UNDERTOW is also an excellent 2025 ‘Light On’ drama. On the other hand I dropped the 2025 ‘Light On’ drama THE PERFECT SUSPECT after 8 episodes.
I am still loving QM. Keeping my current rating of 10 stars BUT the police incompetence in episode 4 is mind boggling. Folks you are dealing with one actual psycho, one probable psycho and perhaps a mentally unbalanced young man. Let’s be careful out there!
I just finished Tencent Video’s 2024 crime drama FROZEN SURFACE. For the performances by the excellent cast especially MLs Chen Jian Bin and Hu Jin I gave it a MDL rating of 8. (I tend to be a generous marker lol). I love the winter crime dramas set in the gritty northeast China. Yes there were problems with the plot lines as indicated in the comments below. On a side note I found it interesting that here was another drama where official corruption was dramatized. On the political side was the County Chief and in the police was the forensics chief. Of course both were brought to justice in the end.
I pleased to see Jang Dong-yoon’s QUEEN MANTIS will be available to US viewers on both Viki and Netflix, however given the choice I will DEFINITELY watch QM on Viki. Undoubtedly the subtitles will be superior.
Song Kang reportedly cast in this. They are actively preparing for production, including castinghttps://m.entertain.naver.com/now/article/477/0000557441
Late but thanks for this information. I have added FOUR HANDS to my plan to watch list.
Netflix has an arrangement with SBS to air SBS dramas beginning in the second half of 2025 (like now). SBS’s THE WINNING TRY started airing on Netflix US on Friday, July 25. So as a US viewer I have fingers crossed that SBS’s QUEEN MANTIS will air in September on Netflix US.
First four episodes of this drama were quite solid with a phenomenal first episode.Directing is amazing, acting…
Glad to hear it. I am at the last five episodes of the 36 episode IN THE NAME OF JUSTICE and then will jump into UNDERTOW. Glad UNDERTOW is only 19 episodes (an odd number of episodes in a way). I dropped my last Light On drama THE PERFECT SUSPECT after 7 of 16 episodes and jumped into IN THE NAME OF JUSTICE. It wasn’t terrible by any means but it didn’t grip me like other Light On Series dramas. Light On dramas have been a bit of a mixed bag for me. iQIYI’s 2024 Light On drama LET WIND GOES BY (24 episodes) was awesome. One of my favorites of 2024.
Here is hoping that iQIYI will provide this Light On Series drama with real person generated English subs. (Meanwhile I have to rush to finish Youku’s excellent crime drama IN THE NAME OF JUSTICE having watched 25 of 36 episodes.)
