right, it's cultural differences. there's various, numerous Chinese dramas where the FL acts cute and innocent and yet because that's ok over there, and yet this is the one being dragged through the mud for "pedophilia". it's a real, serious thing to be accusing something or someone of pedohilia and I really, really wish people wouldn't take it so lightly.

i don't understand, if they can't understand or tolerate the genre, why watch? it's not like Chinese people watch American romance dramas and complain about the women power or the fact that they have so many sex and nude scenes.

try it and see if u like it, ignore the ratings some ppl are rating low for episodes that haven't even aired yet. feel free to drop if you don't like it. personally I find it really refreshing and love the relationship that the leads have, they have good chemistry

I'm assuming it's cause NF asked that question to WZ. you can see her demeanor shift after that q is asked, she may have felt a little discouraged that SC hasn't given any obvious signs yet

same. every time I watch an episode, get excited come to the page to see the discussion. and all I see are negative comments and ppl just picking it apart 😭I found better luck on twt though which is crazy cause twt/X is usually more negative

that's a bit of a fucking reach to say this show and Esther is promoting pedohilia no? pedohilia is a very serious issue and should be treated as such. tell me, in what way is this show promoting that? based on her actions and her voice? that's how the character was written in the novel. take it up to the novel writer. and besides, she only acts like that around her friends/the ML and acts differently around her family and at work.

also--there are various, multiple other cdramas where the FL acts in a similar way. are u trying to say those shows are promoting pedohilia also?

because of this drama I learned how to say wo xiang ni because of how many ppl were dying left and right lol

not defending her mom or anything but I feel this is pretty typical in Asian culture? not saying it's healthy or anything but it's pretty normal to critique your children and compare to other children. like why can't you be more like xyz. all that to say I FF all her scenes cause I don't want it to ruin my mood lol

🤷‍♀️ haven't heard any thing bout the reason it was cut. supposedly there are a lot of side characters and filler in the novel so hopefully that's what was cut

I just didn't want like 5 episodes dedicated to family issues/disapproval since they cut the episodes down to only 23. but considering how lighthearted this is so far, don't think that'll be the case.

got whiplash from ep 14 to 15. the sweet scene of them sleeping together, to her starting to realize she likes him. and then boom ep 15 when she wants to move out. poor girl is traumatized from her past 😢😭

very true for TTEOTM. the love was very toxic and you can kind of smell the bad ending from the very start. I don't know if it's possible if he would die and reincarnate again or die and become a True God again.

in Blossom, the ML had poison and was supposed to die, and wasn't given the cure until the last episode. it's a different drama (historical) but anything can happen-- really don't think he's gonna die.

this might help. their past lives ended in tragedy, she had unrequited feelings for him, died, and only after she died did he realize he loved her. on the previous drama (Ancient Love Poetry) he was in love with Shang Gu, the main FL who was also a True God.

but don't worry, they changed the names because of the copyright and some of the story is changed too. this can be viewed as a standalone drama but knowing the background previous life you may be able to find some Easter eggs.

LOL the ending is the book version that's the only way I got myself to get over it 🤣 the ost still makes me sad and the emotions come back (this one).

can you believe it's been two years already? the drama had a lasting impact lol. Chinese directors do like sad themes, but for this one I'm more confident that they'll go through a bunch of heartbreak/angst and have a one second happy ending. all the other dramas related to the series (last immortal, ancient love poetry) had a short but happy ending.
