I agree, Disney is ass, they have ruined many shows and movies but their are still lots of amazing English shows…
I admit there are some good western shows but those are for western audiences. Kdrama is special cause it is "Kdrama". It would just be annoying to see these asian shows start becoming more and more "americanize", losing their authenticity to try and draw in more people in the west. You are already starting to see it with some Kdrama/movies produce in netflix. Just hope those behind these projects don't forget to stay authentic to the story telling and culture. If this doesn't not work out, will start to get a lot of bland and generic shows that are all the same, and to a point where Kdrama's don't even apeal anymore to the rest of the global community anymore.

That's TERRIBLE news. Disney will poison K-dramas. There's a reason we watch K-dramas instead of Western crap.
Lmao yes!!! Lol a i am just like "We don't want to share this with yall anymore!!!" Man! Like did they not see what they did to mulan!? I feel like its gonna try and cater to more western audience and soon they gonna loose the specialty of what KDrama is. There's something about KDrama (that seems to rock with the rest of the world) that western tv shows cannot emulate.

I dropped my first Wuxia series because the flying weirded me out but once I learned more about the genre and…
lol u must hate watching DC and Marvel movies

Hmmm...You could try some of the older Wuxia dramas, like the Condor ones, but I can't guarantee than there is…
Its never been fully well adapted into live action though. Most drama, when adapting, seems to forget their is a limit to it. Its called light weight skill and its just suppose to make someone lighter in movement. This inhaces their speed and increases the height to which they can jump or slow their fall. I'd Like to refer to it as"parkour on steroids". The concept is that it is tied to ones breathing technique and concentration. Usually in the Wuxia genre, the higher your martial arts, the more likely you are able to demonstrate high levels of light weight skills that you are usually suppose to see on screen, the "flying".

I would say the best representation so far about the concept of the "flying" was shown in the movie Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon( and even then it wasnt the best). In the characters of Li mu Bai and Jen, these two are the only two to demonstrate advance light weight skills as they both practice martial arts of Wudang school which is a taoist sect( and in our real world) who's martial arts is was based off of the concept of tai chi. Their martial arts encourages a calm and tranquil mindset, making Wudang ( in the world building of Wuxia) one of the sect with the best light weight skill. But if your familiar with genre building of Wuxia, wudang is only second best in terms of lightweight skills. The Ancient Tomb sect( in the novel Return of the Condor Hero), a sect that predates Wudang by a hundred years, was the sect who held the title of those of those with best light weight skill.
In the genre of Wuxia, meeting a person who has good light weight skill is actually really rare, and to learn light weight skill is a blessing for a character in a wuxia story genre. So it is a little silly when you watch cDramas, they just have almost anyone be able to fly around like its normal, forgetting the basic element to the genre, which is ridiculous.

I was watching alot of Taiwanese dramas( or ones adapted from taiwan) thinking I was watching chinese drama. Once mainland started getting into the asian drama scene, I started noticing real big differences. There was always something refreshing and overly raw about taiwan dramas that made them (in my opinion) special than what we see now days.

Am I the only one who feels like Wuxia dramas always have a bigger budget and have overall taken more seriously…
If you haven't already seen it before, Chinese paladin ( Legend of Sword and Fairy) 2005. Series based off a xianxia game. Idk about other people, but would say that was the starting point of where xianxia ( as we know it now onscreen started) drama. Usually my reference to what xianxia was before the "Ten Miles of Peach Blossom phase"

no. Cause first off Zombies are not a thing in wuxia. Untame is fantasy, so in xian-xia. In wuxia, there's more…
But no, i think calling it wuxia is taking away what wuxia is. The untame fits in to xianxia because their are supernatural elements to it. Its hard to explain when wuxia has the light weight and internal skills too, but wuxia does not have any openly blantant elements of fantasy. A person can fly( what i describe as parkour on steroids) but it will be weird if you watch someone come back from the dead, shapeshift or conjour something from thin air. Them flying on swords in Mo Dao Zu Shi makes it very clear that its a xianxia. I would say wuxia has no ghost, demons, gods, immortals or somtimes "mythical" beasts.
Everyone in a wuxia story is human and everyone has the same capabilities to learn martial arts. Till this day, I don't thinks there's been an adaption of some wuxia works that has fully presented what wuxia is on screen. A good adaption would have to have the intense choreography of Crouching tiger Hidden Dragon and the intercret story telling like Game of thrones ( pre season 8). A good wuxia story is and adventure. One where it inspires you to go out and explore the world with nothing but yourself.

then we can also say huang rong is the queen of girl power for most wuxia nowadays with a strong fl, like legend…
Exactly! They try to have a huang ron character but all they get is a mary sue. They forget the part where hunag rong is flawed. Most of them are just mary sue's and are so bland.- same goes to the Yang Guo archetypes now days too.
Blizzardahm Apr 22, 2021
lol Ima gonna have to say that Yang Guo ( return of condor hero) is the original blue print for alot of the modern xian xia protagonist now days...

YES!. cause alot of these xian xia story also take alot of elements from Jin Yong's and other wuxia stories. If u know just a little bit about some of the classics, you can see how alot of xianxia characters are based of the old beloved wuxia ones.

it's a really awesome article ........ everything is clear and i loved the facts and the way it is presented.....…
no. Cause first off Zombies are not a thing in wuxia. Untame is fantasy, so in xian-xia. In wuxia, there's more of a real world setting element to it. There are no ghost, people cannot come back from the dead or fly on magic swords. Wuxia is more grounded in reality with a grounded world building logics around martial arts, ( exaggerating the "what if's " of martial arts). Xianxia is more fantasy and has a magic system.

I was really excited for this drama when I first heard about it but I have seen the main girl act on some variety…
I hope this is good cause i love the story, but was kinda disapointed when i saw the leads act. But when i think about it, i believe most bad acting is due to the director or sxript writer cause some dramas an actor can do really good and some they just do so bad. Like. Who would sit through bad acting and not call it out, thays how u know the dirextors at fault. just hope the director in this is a good one.

Just one question. When Miss Long fight, where all the long sashes suddenly came from? From her robe or just where?…
Yes like the old versions better. The hongkong ones where they actually incooperated kungfu aspects to it to make it more believable weapon. She has only one piece and uses them like a rope dart. Instead of a dart, attached to the ends are golden bells, hence why its called the" golden bell sash". I think they seem to be made with the same materials as her gloves, making them more durable to other weapons. Unlike li mou chou, xiao long nu does not like using lethal weapons, so this weapon is only use to disarm, hence why their are bells instead of darts. The bells are Used to hit the weak accupoints of the opponets body, unlike swords or spears, the sash can work around the body, so a person has to be very careful when dodging an attack from this weapon. But to use this a person must be very good at keeping up with the equilinbrium the sashes physics, meaning they have to keep it moving which requires precision and flexibility. Xiao long nu being able to use do this with ease is what suppose
to demonstrate her expertise in martial arts. The weak point to this
is that once you can intercept this and break the flow of the weapon, the user becomes open to attacks, that means one have to be-careful when using the this sash techniqe. It really reflect the style of the ancient tomb sect, which uses a "soft skill techniques" compare to skills like toad palm and 18 sudueing dragon palm.
