I didn’t think his acting was particularly good or bad. I would need more episodes before I make any definitive conclusions about anyones acting. For the first episode I saw it as mainly introducing the mood of the show & establishing characters personalities. Yes, there was some cringy aspects for me (which I didn’t mention because people have already commented on that enough lol) like the whole Italian mafia sequence but after deftly using my fast forward button I was good. Oh & his English skills are good I can’t even imagine how I would sound trying to speak Thai while acting lol.
After watching the first episode i love how they introduced Kinn. I love the whole mood that they set up.While reading the book I often felt like the whole Mafia thing was kind of not believable and just a plot device lol. Like the stakes were never high enough for me to feel really engaged. But after watching the trailer I love the dark mood and sense of violence . If this is done well it’ll definitely be one of my favorites!
Apo looks so similar to Luca Pasqualino no wonder I think he’s so hot lol. & I just finished the novel and wow…
To the people that read the novel is the second family like Kinn’s uncle and cousins? I probably missed that if so but I’ve been wondering lol. Also I hope they omit the whole “wife” and “husband” thing in the drama that irritated my soul while reading the book lol.
I have a question has Otomo always liked men? In the beginning of the movie he wasn’t that resistant to Imagase like you would imagine a “straight” man would be. Even from their first kissing scene he was moving his head lol was it like this in the manga?
This fell flat for me. And may I even say was a little boring towards the end. The actor playing Cha Si won was okay. However, the one playing Da un in my opinion was very stiff. There were multiple scenes where he just couldn’t emote & resorted to blank face it was a little funny. I would’ve loved seeing more buildup to what made Si won start liking Da un it felt a little hasty. I enjoyed this directors previous work immensely but yeah this wasn’t it for me.
I feel like some significance could be lost on some viewers. Such as the singer switching to singing a traditional Korean song. This was very dangerous thing to do during that time as the Korean language was basically banned & it most definitely resulted in her death. So yeah that scene gave me chills. Also, the significance of rice, someone already goes into that below and links a really good article but yeah this series is so good! The little details.
Wow they’re making me feel some sympathy for Koh Hansu. I hated him in the novel & loved Isak. Him and Sunja’s scene together omg the sexual tension & chemistry. That scene of them together she literally melted into his hand.
Also, that scene with him and Isak the tension lol. Isak handled himself well he got him where it hurts “my son”.
I feel like in the drama Hansu is a much more interesting character maybe because I can see his expressions? Like he’s very layered he obviously loves Sunja but his pride prevents him from telling her that. Also, he’s jealous because another man will raise his child and he’s worried for her and his child but he hides that and leads with anger & contempt. Im not ready for the Japan arc 😭
Also, this really shows how there can be two kind of loves. One passionate and fiery and the other slow and steady it grows on you. I find the latter lasts the longest but you never forget the first.
I know the time period was rough but is there much "anti-japan", "the japanese are devils" in this? This is a…
What does this comment even mean lol? And simplifying the period as just “rough” is so disrespectful. 🙄 You know the Japanese committed so many atrocities during this era so any “anti-Japanese” or “Japanese devils” sentiments had by the people they were actively oppressing during this time period is completely warranted. But no the show actually does a good job of showing some nuance which the book did not have!
I loved the book and the first 3 episodes encapsulated the feeling of the book so well. I cried so much! It really made me think of my grandmother. I don’t know how this will do for the audience on mdl… just by reading the comments already I don’t have high hopes
Really loving this so far! The set & costumes are really nice! Also, I love how different the female lead is compared to the usual female lead in Chinese dramas! I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of Dilreba , just a casual viewer. The kings woman is one of my ultimate faves though! Allen Ren has surprised me I was really hesitant to watch this because I didn’t know how the chemistry would be, but I’m already feeling “the feels”. I’m also loving the side characters! I’m just sad about the sub situation looks like I’ll be rewatching when they come out. The subs I’m currently watching aren’t the best but are enough for now!
Here's link of picture diagram of who is who in the drama. Hope this helps.https://kisskh.at/photos/rAodm_3https://kisskh.at/discussions/yu-jiao-ji/71871-who-is-who-in-tbw-list-of-casts
Thankyou for responding & yes you were right I wanted to understand what was going on in the 1st episode since the subs were so bad. But I read the novel up to chapter 3 so now I have an understanding of the characters and everyone’s intentions/ what’s going on! Thankyou again for trying to help!
