I get what you mean about trauma being a theme in A LOT of her works. Like, why does everything always have to be so dark, twisted, sad and depressing with your characters, then use love and sex to rehabilitate them, therefore using the whole "love concurs all" trope? It's formulaic and repetitive, but still entertaining enough. I agree that TBNW is very good, although I'm too afraid to read her books given how dark the content probably is. I'm not one to be squeamish, but something tells me the woman's got one depraved mind I don't wanna be exposed to π«£π³π₯²

I hope so, that's good to know because in the show, by deliberately cutting out these scenes - if they exist - they are making her look pretty sh*tty π«€. Thanks for the info. That makes me feel a bit better about the situation and Phu's support group other than Cirrus.
I WILL EXPLAIN ITββββI watch American movies and series so I enjoy series like this. It's not that complicated…
This is what I've been saying this whole time! Glad we think alike. Since EP. 5, I saw A LOT of people taking Cir's "confession" at face value and getting ready to give up on the show WAY TOO EASILY. We are only halfway through, and people really believed for a second there, that variant Phu and Cir's romance was only in his head. I knew he could see parallel worlds, but wasn't privy/ aware of it ( Confession=red herring). Afterall, like you said, there were so many hints that told us the parallel world existed and wasn't a figment of Cir's imagination or a dream he had whilst in a coma.
There were definitely supernatural/fantasy elements at play multiple times throughout the show and Phu was shown to also be connected to Cir and the parallel world through his dreams as shown in EP.1. Plus, there's Jin and his power, and if Jin can read minds ( which still isn't explained how that's possible or why he can do that), why can't Cirrus travel to, or see parallel worlds? Although, it seems like he body swaps with different Cirruses so that's still a big ?.
I am Western, therefore I watch a lot of western shows, so maybe that's why it was also easier for me to understand what was happening, I don't know. But make no mistake, this show is a whirlwind of mystery, and I did have my share of getting confused a lot along the way of figuring out what the hell was going on.
Nevertheless, The Boy Next World is not over yet, so we'll see what's left to explore and uncover π€π over the upcoming weeks. I'm just excited about being right for once because I literally never am! ππ
Thorn said that everyone knows Phu wants to be alone that day and he doesnβt want to talk to anybody, so my…
I agree with you also. She bothered me a lot during her phone call with Phu in EP. 4 When Phu was sick. When Phu was clearly missing her, and all excited to finally see her again in person and eat her food, and she said she wasn't ready to return, he was obviously upset and on verge of tears. But once again, even sick and feeling let down, he put on a brave face and told her it was ok and she just easily accepted it and hung up. Phu clearly wasn't ok! His voice was trembling and he was going to cry. Seconds after the call ended he did! God, she actually does suck. Not as bad as Cir's mom of course, but still. None of the moms in this show is winning the "Mother of the Year" Award π
Thorn said that everyone knows Phu wants to be alone that day and he doesnβt want to talk to anybody, so my…
Yes, I remember Thorn saying that, but still. You'd think his mother would be exempt from that "unspoken" rule because her son is hurting and always will be just as she is, since you know, he did lose his father whom he clearly loved very much. Thorn didn't seem to care about the rule, and went to Phu's old house anyway to make sure he was alright. But Phu's own mother couldn't call her son? It's bad enough she practically abandoned him in Thailand when he was in junior high, but to not even speak to your grieving son who always puts on a strong front because you're too weak to see through you're own pain to acknowledge his? She could have at least video chatted with Phu. A mere phone call isn't enough.
In Ep. 7, I just realized it's Phus' father's death day and all, but yet, he didn't speak to his mother? Did they address that and I missed it? Or did they not bother talking to each other on this severely significant and impactful day that left both of them emotionally scarred? I understand the mom is hurting too and needs to be away, but so far from what we've seen, she comes off as kind of neglectful.
I ruined this series for myself by reading the book as soon as it was announced, never again!! Itβs a shame…
what do you mean? the fingers in the mouth is a soft kink, a display of dominance. Just because you don't get it, or it's not your thing doesn't make it bizarre. A LOT of people do it during s*x. Phu and Cir clearly like it a little rough and the fingers in the mouth show that. That's pretty vanilla all things considered. But if that's bizarre to you then π€·πΏ
BossNoeul said the actual scene was longer but bcs it's too intense the team chose to cutted it & put it in the…
I agree! After the last two NC scenes, they were building up to their official first time, and this is all we get? It was good, but I'm not gonna lie, I was expecting greatness β€οΈβπ₯π₯β€οΈβπ₯. It was too short, and I was expecting more passion, sensuality, and lovemaking. Considering it was their first time, it looked like they had sex only because Phu was sad and needed comfort from his boyfriend, which is true, but the scene gave off vibes that they've "been together" countless times already and didn't need to take their time and ease into it. But who knows? Maybe hard, fast and a little rough is how they like it from what we've seen so far π€. However, MeMind or whoever's, excuse for not including the full scene, or for shortening it, is a copout. The editing and pacing work of this scene proves that they saw an opportunity to make more money from us via putting the full scene in the boxset, and unfortunately, they'll succeed ππππΏ They gave us the Cut/ severely watered down version of the most anticipated scenes of this show in an already supposedly uncut version, just so we'd pay more for the box set? GREED!
In my opinion, the actor who plays Nord, gives a performance that some viewers might find underwhelming. While…
Did we watch the same show? No one makes facial expressions and cries like Bas, except for Earth. But during the emotional scenes, Bas was breathtaking and looked so sincere, especially in episode 15, during his reunion with Johan (Maxky). Bas's comedic performance, body language, and laidback acting were very relatable to many audience members and helped them resonate with his take and portrayal of North's personality. I think Bas did an excellent job. He is one of the rare actors in the industry who seems to have a lot of range regarding his acting and I can't wait to see more from him. That's not me being biased, I'm just stating facts. I really do not understand where you are coming from, but I guess I don't need to.
Look, the bitter truth is, if you're complaining about not understanding what's going on, that's not the series'…
I love and agree with everything you said, EXCEPT for the part where you spoil Cir has a fiancee π. Alot of people may not be aware of that, so you may wanna tag your post as a spoiler, even though her actor shows up in the cast list. Just in case people may not be aware
Yes BossNoel as well as FortPeat can give "lessons" to other bl actors for sure! πLets call it Sizzle lessons…
No, seriously. No joke they should be intimacy coordinators. Sex educators but for film and television because so many actors don't know how, or feel uncomfortable acting out realistic NC scenes or even simple makeout sessions. Even though it is part of the job a lot of the times, most still can't seem to pull it off. I don't know if it's the actors or the directors, although I don't know why the director(s) wouldn't want performances that aren't as authentic, passionate, intimate, and/or as emotionally thought-provoking as much as possible π€.
I don't think so. I think the "lie" is a red herring. It can't be that simple or easy, there has to be more to the story. Otherwise, what's the point of learning about Jin's mind reading? Why is Cir's mom such a crazy, unfeeling, unemotional, life-controlling b*TCH? How does Cirrus know SO MUCH intimate details about Phu's personal life? it doesn't add up. There has to be more to the story that even P'Cir isn't aware of than his "I wanted you so bad that I made up a fantasy in my mind and I had to have you so I made up this lie to make you mine in real life" bull. Plus, what's with all the light flickering in episode one when Cir was in his coma, and it seemed to also be happening in Phu's apartment? What about Phu's "dreams" about their alternate lives together as a happy couple that we saw in ep.1? There's definitely more to the story than meets the eye. we will see. I think he really can jump through alternate worlds but maybe isn't aware?
i've only ready their book so idk if its other things too but they own a big electronics company that also does…
Wish they would have shown this in the series. Sounds so entertaining to watch. This is the kind of stuff I'm talking about. I know they can't include everything thing, but it's like they purposely omitted all the best parts of the novels and interconnections just to mess with us ππ. I REALLY wanted to see the more dangerous, sexy side of both Johan and Tiger both up close and personal. Why showrunners?! Did you even read the books, or did you get interns and the author to give you keynotes and the condensed version? Now I feel bad for complaining so much because I did love season 1 overall, but I keep coming back to the fact that there could have and should have been so much more WOW due to the source material.
Earth's acting is pretty good. What we need is to see him be challenged and take on more serious roles, and to…
Totally agree! For someone nearing 30, he/they shouldn't have to beg for more mature roles. At this point, it should be a given, like come on guys. I don't know what's going on, or if (sorry, I don't know Earth's pronouns) his/their agents are afraid to tarnish his/their brand but it's getting ridiculous at this point. Let them grow up!
Is it only me that does not see any chemistry at all between Ter and Pond? Whenever, Pond tries to hug/kiss Ter,…
Honestly, I did like them overall, but I have to agree and I understand your frustrations. They would have been way more entertaining to watch if Ter were more receptive of Hill's physical affection. Every time Hill tried to get close romantically, Ter would be passive and squeamish. It got old pretty quick. I loved watching Hill's devotion and love, but I quickly got tired of watching Ter's evasiveness. Like, you're boyfriends but when your boyfriend hugs you or tries to kiss you on the cheek or forehead, or gives you a peck ANYWHERE, or says the sweetest words to you that comes from the heart, you're like "what are you doing?" or, "What are you saying?" πππ€¨ I did really like Ter, but when he acted this way all the time around Hill, I kept thinking, What are YOU doing, and what are YOU saying? Hill has made it clear he loves you and wants to be with you and you love him, so why are you dragging you're feet and playing so hard to get? Talk to him about your fears, likes and dislikes, and show him some affection too. Take some initiative as he does. Wtf?! The direction of HillTer had me so confused, like I was genuinely wondering what New was thinking when he directed Pond and Earth to portray these characters this way. I'm still scratching my head when it comes to HillTer because the portrayal of their relationship seems like a waste when they could have been great, and their chemistry could have shined so much brighter than it did π«€ππ
