Yeah. He’s a psycho. Who dates a high school girl. Major red flag on predatory control issues. Which is disappointing because I vaguely enjoyed his annoyed face and deadpan reactions to the boys when he first came back to China.

Lets make it a little more realistic. WB had to defer his first year due to recovery and SY got the first B of his life because he spent so much time taking care of WB during recovery. But they got through it and all the good stuff above happens

They were interesting. If they really are the mid point of a larger story, I’d say they were very good. But if the worst happens and that is all we get I will forever be haunted by the last shot of SY. So maybe watch when you think you can handle that? Preferably after a season 2 has already started to air…

Maybe she wants to realize her unachieved ambition to bring the whole story (minus the domestic violence) to live action? If we get an amazing second season I’ll regret saying this; but I kind of wish theyd done a quick time jump showing an unearned happy ending over what we got.

Dude they are so gay. This started as an enemies-to bros-to romantic lovers. Its not ambiguous anymore. Unlike that ending.

In fairness the serious stuff WB warned him about was crazy to contemplate and intermixed with all of WB’s possessive jealousy it was probably hard to take seriously. People like MY are hard to recognize and its even harder to think they’d do something so fundamentally pointless (and or evil depending on your perspective) I think SY is less naive and more too smart to realize other people are that dumb.

I strongly suspect she’s a combination of the fairy Chu Kong flirted with before their punishment (she had one scene) and the woman the stone demon loved and lost before the story started. If that is the case she should become very relevant later on.

In the book the big bad they fought in their sixth lives wasnt fully destroyed. There were still shadow pieces of him about. He’d never recover but he could still sow discord etc. I suspect they’ve reworked that to imply the big bad of this story from 30,000 years ago is like that. However, who that big bad was is anyone’s guess. Im leaning towards the immortal playing Prince Ning or the heavenly emperor.

I have a theory based on the book. Its super spoilery.

Her character is alot like Yan Hui but snarkier (pay attention to the insults she throws out), lazier and totally terrified of the ML. Im not 100% sure I like this version as much as the book (she really hated the ML at first and it was hilarious) but than I liked Yan Hui better in the book too.

I know some people like the FL acting and some are on the fence. Some like the changes they made from the novel and some dont. The changes debate involves several characters being added and reinterpretation of the lifetimes. All that being said: its a good so far. I think the FL fits with the comedy and more dramatic moments.

She’s not whiney. She’s cunning and inventive while having the tiniest drop of the spiritual power almost everyone else around her has. She knows to please and placate the strong to protect herself. They also give her character a lot of the comedic moments so she’s quite extra on all things. Unless they totally tank her in later arcs she should be a badass most of the drama.

He was an emperor’s son in the last mortal life. They thought he was mentally disabled because his soul was incomplete and that caused issues. I dont remember what the FL’s origin in that life was but it doesn't matter. She wasn’t an empress in any lifetime. She had her full immortal memory in the last mortal life and dedicated her time to finding the ML and his broken souls. She immediately left wherever she started and raised the ML in a very rural setting.

I think you are right. It has to predate that at least.
