It doesn’t take away from the fun at all. Seeing how they adapt the characters, setting and events can bring new depth and appreciation to the story because its a completely different medium. That being said the one issue I do sometimes have is when they diverge so much from the novel its a completely different story. That always feels like bait and switch. Fortunately, while I do feel that way about this drama, its still really good and fun to watch in its own right.

LOl. This may change but some of their deaths in later lives were kind of comedic because they were very pragmatic attempts to get back to heaven sooner.

IF they go by expectations based off book, he makes her drink extra amnesia potion which had an interesting effect on her in the second life. Either way, the clips from the trailer show her behaving in a way that suggest she definitely drinks it.

In the book this arc was the 1st lifetime and Prince Ning was bad person. However, the other immortal being Prince Ning is new for the drama. So maybe they are playing off novel readers expectations and he wont be that bad. As of episode 6 I think he sucks. Just another riff on the same character flaws that the emperor and second prince have. What I wonder is, if he is bad this lifetime, what does that say about his true immortal self?

Novel readers cant help. They’ve changed too much. The FL didnt have a past life. She was just a young cloud fairy. The ML was ancient and had ties to a master who he hadnt seen in so long he’d forgotten. There was some traumatic stuff that contributed but mostly it was just he’d been an immortal so long and it was too far in the past. As a drama this past identify plot seems to be fairly weak on hiding or not heavily foreshadowing secret identities. The FL was Cang Hai. This was clear from some of the flashes we got in episode 1-2 and also because in end credits the same actress is listed as playing Cang Hai. So unless they are just lookalikes, its the same person.

Nope. Basic basic premise of having hostility to each other while still needing to live out multiple lifetimes of fated mortal love remains. But that is it.

Yeah. He wasn’t really a big character but when we met him we learned he was a sexual sadist and his marriage to her was a trap to kill the ML of that lifetime.

Well, she doesn't like him. She did promise the very powerful princess she could have him. She’s also terrified of him destroying her or the marriage pavilion so she doesn’t want anything he’d want vengeance for to happen. Marrying her might make him feel he lost dignity later. In the book the added reason was the one writing their stories kept joking about how he loved “wife chasing husband” storylines. That pissed her off and she wanted to break that person’s plot.

Not sure what his immortal form is like but in the book Prince Ning was a very bad person. So in this lifetime at least he should be a villain.

He was a very old stone demon who once loved the big bads sister. And yes, he did show up several lifetimes and untied what happened to his love way back.

Shes hilarious but may not be everyone’s preference. Im not sure it will be generic in the end but so far every change they’ve made from the novel does make it feel that way.

Deciphering is BS. Even the most clear cut ending can have layers of meaning and execution to interpret. Most open endings are just lazy cop outs. I really hope they dont pull that here.
