Punishment would have been the same. The Emissary was literally waiting for BJS on the platform. The punishment would not have changed simply because HRY showed up. Why would you even think that???

that is NOT why people are giving a different perspective on things. Those of us that can understand BJS's logic has nothing to do with appearances. Also the fact that we can see that he looks at HRY as an equal yet at the same time as someone he wants and needs to protect. People make mistakes. He realizes his mistake but at the same time never blames HRY for her mistakes (and she has just as many as he does.)

Where do I sit? I am on both of their sides. Sorry, but I honestly cannot be against either given the circumstances. Plus I believe that they both truly love one another . I need a middle seat LOL

He took both of their punishments. His along with hers. If you go back and listen to the conversation he had with the emissary on the platform he says that he is taking hers as well. That he sealed her powers on earth and that would be her punishment (this was his way of appeasing the emissary so that he didn't go after her) but as far as the divine punishment that she was supposed to take BJS took her portion as well.

Not precisely a long time on his end. You need to understand the difference on how time works in the heaven realm vs the mortal realm.

Yes, they share a power source. But their powers differ greatly. Yin and Yang. They balance each other with their differences. Just because she is as powerful as he is does not mean that her strengths are the same.

correct. But the point I was trying to make was that he wasn't sure what punishment would be inflicted. Either way, he was trying to protect her in his own naive way. And if they were both unaware that she was pregnant themselves, there is no way they would have figured it out up in the heavens. They don't send a doctor in to check you before a punishment.
But you are correct, anything is possible. The problem is that you don't know those possibilities in the moment.

Then you really should do more research on the divine punishments. They can be anything from some lightning bolts to completely erasing your existence. And you have to remember that he wouldn't have known what punishment that they decided to mete out for her offenses so in his head he probably was worried about it being the worse case scenario.

Yes, she suffered in the mortal realm and I would tear apart anyone who harmed my child, but at the same time he wanted to make sure she lived and that was all he was concerned with when he made the choice to bind her power. Also, just for another thought. If she had gone up to take the divine punishment she probably in all likeliness she would have lost the baby there and then

BTW he had warned her repeatedly that there would be consequences for her actions of interfering in the life's of mortals. He begged her to be cautious and to stop. She promised that she would and then went ahead and slayed the drought dragon. Don't get me wrong, I understand why she did it but that does not mean that she was oblivious to the fact that she was putting them at risk.
And even though he had asked her repeatedly to not interfere, he still couldn't bear to have her be punished. In his brain he was protecting her the best way he could come up with on a short notice, given the fact that Heaven had sent the Mandate for him to bring her before them to face judgement and be punished

He went and took her punishment for her. He didn't tell her that so that she wouldn't fight him on it. He was too naive in thinking that she would be safe in the human realm during those 10 years. Also, it wasn't 10 years for him because he was in the heavenly realm, which basically would mean that for him, he would have been gone for hours and at most a couple of days for recovery. I am really tired right now, but if I remember correctly, in Chinese lore, 1 day in Heaven = 1 Year on Earth. And she was on earth for 6 years before their son died.

I am guessing that he is acting like this to everybody because he isn't sure who is a spy now. He isn't trusting anyone. If you are putting on an act to throw someone you need to put the show on for everyone.
