Since I still can't move on, I've been binge watching Love is Sweet the last few days. It's therapeutic seeing the two of them being so cute and sweet together.
For me what prevents this show from easily being one of the best xianxiaβs ever done is that it featured too…
The characters you mentioned were surely interesting, but they weren't really as important to the main story, so it's understandable that they ended up being cut. I would say though, that they should have cut Mo Nv and Ji Wu's story from the immortal arc completely. What they showed didn't really add anything to the story anyway. Showing that Mo Nv was a demon to begin with wasn't really all that necessary and she didn't do anything noteworthy. instead, they would have given us a more complete ending or given us more Pian Ran and Qing Yu.
To be honest, the way the Chinese government constantly interferes with their entertainment industry is a little much, but what can you expect.
Nian Baiyu was underrated. He was definitely one of my favourite characters.
I'm not sure if Tantai Jin loved her more than she loved him, but he definitely loved her differently. Like you said, he put her first. Always. The thing about Tantai Jin is that he never received affection from anyone before her. She was the first who protected him unconditionally (or so he thought) and showed kindness and in turn he started to love her. For the first time in his life he loved someone. So he imprinted on her like a baby chick. She was the only light he saw or most likely the only one he wanted to see. She became everything to him. All the things he did after falling in love with her just shows what happens when one person becomes your everything.
I don't think Susu loved him less, but there were other things in her life that were also important and those things eventually influenced her decisions. He couldn't become her everything, because a part of her heart was already filled with the other people in her life. I don't think he was the last choice for her. Yes, in the end she made the choice to save the world over saving him, but to be completely honest, he made that choice first. There was no discussion, no looking for any other possible option or just plain going though it together. Yes, he wanted to save the world because she's in it, because she wanted to save it and because she taught him to love the world. However, just because she chose to save the world in the end, doesn't mean that he's her last choice. Especially, since she wanted to die with him so he wouldn't have to leave the world all alone.
At least that's how I interpreted it. It's not easy to put into words.
I do see where you're coming from and there were many instances in the drama where I wished that Susu would just forget everything else and grab hold of his hand and not let go. But I also couldn't help understanding her point of view.

Hmmm.... I think a lot of people might share your opinion as far as Susu goes. A lot of people seem to dislike her. I must admit I'm not one of those people. She has definitely made some mistakes and there were times when I was disappointed with her, but it's not like Tantai Jin never made any mistakes. That's what makes this drama so good and why we all get emotionally invested. The characters are flawed and traumatised and pulled every which way by their circumstances and choices. What sets apart the characters I like from the ones I end up hating are the intentions of their actions. Both Tantai Jin and Li Susu act based on selfless intentions. They have people to protect and their own feelings end up taking a backseat. In contrast to that you have someone like Ye Bingchang, whose motives and intentions are always selfish.

Yes, me too, but his actions, while not exactly smart, are understandable. The demons were holding his whole clan captive. He was the cause of many misunderstandings, but that is not a fault in character, but rather circumstances and bad decisions. So no matter what, he still remains one of my favourite characters.
I'll be watching this no matter who ends up being cast. You never know how an actor or actress ends up performing, so it's always best to give it a chance.
Have you heard of this rumor??? https://koalasplayground.com/2023/05/18/c-rumor-has-bai-lu-and-luo-yun-xi-reuniting-for-the-third-time-in-the-high-profile-drama-adaption-of-third-novel-in-the-three-lives-three-worlds-series/
Imagine someone else playing ttjππCause i cant imagine that
Hmmmm.... I can't really imagine anyone else in this role, but to be honest that's how I usually feel when an actor or actress does really well. Luo Yun Xi was amazing . It's really beautiful to see when an actor and a character find each other. It's like this role was made for him and he went above and beyond to make him come to life. Unforgettable and absolutely mesmerising performance. We also can't forget Bai Lu. She also did an amazing job. Their chemistry was magical. Both are also very good at emotional scenes, which in this drama was a must.
