No, they don't break up. They do have a spat because SY lied to her saying he was not going into the fire scene when he did and gets hurt. She gets mad at him. But they kissed and made up (and literary fireworks flew). No idea how the drama will show that.

If the drama follows the novel: they will move in together and get ready to marry, after having quite the scare (one last fire before SY transfers). FL cuts ties with her parents but keeps ties with brother.

The drama changed the Meng's profession. Both Meng dad and MYC are in the armed police in the novel (someone from China can correct me, but my understanding this is kind of like a military police force). I don't know why drama decided to make them the stereotypical businessmen, but I guess it works in dramaland.

So I guess drama decided one dead pregnant woman was enough, so we are not getting that whole subplot of the pregnant woman who was in an accident and doctor tried to save the mother, but the husband and HIS mother demanded "save the baby" and they both didn't make it. And to me that was important, because XQ then asks SY what if it was me? would you save me or the baby? And he says he would ask to save her and not the baby if that ever happens. And I guess that means not another person threatening to jump out since we already had one of those with Suo Jun early on.

Meng Huanjin (dad) was a former comrade of Xu Qin's dad. In the novel, both Meng dad and MYC are actually in the police. They changed their profession for the drama. Chinese sensors? I don't know.
