Epi 32 was so sweet, and OMG the contrast between the dinner at Song Yan's house vs the Mengs. I noticed a few changes from the book, but I guess that is TV drama for you. I also saw a lot of the comments about the episodes with no subs and the disappointment... well... Β―\_(ツ)_/Β― That is dramaland for you. Every time I see a novel adaptation I treat it as fanfiction.

No, not redemption arc in the novel. The fact that MYC gets arrested and detained is enough of a scandal for the family, even if he gets exonerated in the end. And also, XQ goes no contact with the parents.

I don't speak Mandarin, but "lao po" could mean both according to Google. In the novel translation I read, it was translated as "wifey".

In the novel a young firefighter from another squadron dies in one fire at a bar and lots of civilians as well. Some of the firefighters get hurt. This being a TV drama, who knows how they would change things around.

Well, in the book they talk about having children or not in the sense of XQ asking him "if my life were in danger, would you chose me or the baby?" and he replies "you of course" (because of the pregnant woman who died along with her baby. In the drama they changed her cause of death in episode 30). She then asks "how about if I am unable to have kids?" and he replies "Then we won't have any." But in the epilogue she already has a name picked for if/when they have a kid.

BTW, the poisoning is not in the book, but XQ getting mad at SY for scaring her yes. That's when he starts calling her wifey in the book 😁. Drama just combined scenes.
